I started web design 15 years ago. At the time, I was a marketing manager for 4 hotels and a restaurant. My boss decided he wanted to cut out the middle man so re-building and maintaining all the websites would now be my responsibility as well. I knew nothing about web design but I bought a book about HTML and read it in one weekend. I was hooked!
I feel like web design is the culmination of everything I had done in my career up to that point. I had been a legal secretary, executive assistant, bookkeeper, operations manager, and marketing manager. All of these experiences helped me build my web design business.
After learning web design basics and discovering that I loved it, I took more in-depth classes to enhance my skills and less than a year later, left my Marketing Manager position to start my own company. My boss at the time became my first official client with my new business. I’m so thankful to him for pushing me past my boundaries because he helped me find my true passion.
