So I got asked the other day by my daughter about why i say that I'm spiritual, but not religious. And I told her that my issue has never been with God, my issue is with the Church. I'm going to say it, and I honestly do not care about the backlash I get for it. The majority of Christians are two-faced hypocrites. Always saying one thing on Sunday, and then never living up to what they talked about Monday-Saturday. And then want to criticize people who do not go to church but are doing good in the world just because they WANT to, not out of necessity or religious hysteria. Talking about if you do not go to church you are not living the life of Christ. Who ever said that going to Church was a requirement to justify being a good person. There have been, and still are plenty of just good people in the world that felt that they do need to go to church to validate that they are doing good in the world.

I'll use me as a perfect example. As I said in my last blog post, I never claimed to be a millionaire. My salary is $70,000 U.S. a year. I'm not ashamed to say it. For where I live in Tijuana, Mexico, I live VERY comfortably. I'm very self sufficient. Anyways, I'm a former homeless Navy Veteran, for over a decade. My story was actually featured in a video for Spectrum (which at the time was known as Time Warner Cable). I do not work for Spectrum anymore. As I stated in my profile, I work independently now. Soon as I purchased my house here in Tijuana, you wanna know the first thing I did? I took in 3 Navy veterans who happen to be deported from the U.S., helped them get themselves cleaned up, and helped them find a job that coincides with their skill set. 2 of them work for tech companies now, the 3rd actually works for American Express. All here in TJ.  I didn't need the good book, a minister, or any clergy to tell me to do that. I just did it because it was just the right thing to do. There are plenty of homeless people like I was, who aren't on drugs, alcohol, don't have any kind of criminal record, don't have mental or physical disabilities, are college-educated, and are not just looking for a hand-out, but a way out. And like myself, and a whole lot of you, would not qualify for the services of the homeless social services system, because the shelters cannot get funding, or make money off of you if you are not disabled in some way.

Anyways, back to my point. I just do not believe that I have to be a RELIGIOUS man to be just a GOOD one. I don't need to go to Church to validate that. I am not against the Church. It has it's place in the world. But I'm honestly tired of people who truthfully feel that if you do not go to church, then automatically "You're going to hell!" REALLY? I do not know if I am going up top or down below. I'm not a saint, trust me. Nor have I ever claimed to be. EVERYONE has done some things in life they wish to forget.  All I know is that I do not need to justify doing right by people just because it's the right thing. I have never needed that.

Let me know your thoughts

Jesus died on the cross for your relationship, not your religion. I agree with you as well. I am very spiritual And I believe in being a good person, and knowing my savior. I strived to identify myself with any religion. I’m still struggling. I do read the Bible, and I do pray. I hope one day I’ll have a understanding.

@Ivory35A ,

You said it well ...the truth is even people who go to church

can go to hell as well ..I remember when I was a little girl a devote Catholic had said bad things about a person after she

just had attended a mass . In my innocent thought I asked my

Aunt ..will she go to hell ? She said yes ..Well , that is only one

situation ..

Very brave of you to bring up religion and money in a comment. I strongly agree. Your relationship is between you and God alone. It is your soul and we all die alone.

The church paints a picture to the world but the meaning behind it is a lie. Church now a days is watered down and full a lie
