Well, I dated for a while a lady who had us checked.  Even though our star signs indicated we would be a disaster, her "expert" said, "Ïf you both work at it hard enough you can make it."  Man knew how his bread got buttered.

Perhaps, consulting with the so called ' expert ' , was the first mistake the lady made.

It most likely instilled in her mind, a negative feeling, regardless of how truly good the relationship could have been.

Then again, there are ' ladies ', who consult with their ' girlfriends ', or children, for opinions in a potential relationship.

That behaviour can be even more disastrous, if ' The Experts ' don't approve.  Usually they do Not,  out of pure jealousy and or selfishness.

Well, gracious cakes. I'm probably opening a can of worms... but that's okay. This is my sister's specialty, not mine, so please forgive any minor errors.

Not only is there a Sun sign...based on bitrthdate, and nearly the only thing the general public is familiar with. Do I believe that there are certain major traits that fall into this catagory. Of course. But I'd bet you could take 100 people, give them the positive aspects of all 12 Zodiac signs and every single person would associate themselves with the positives possibly from their own, but also likely even more from the other signs. Does this make astological signs bunk? No, and I'll elaborate.

Depending on the date, time and location of or births, we have a Sun sign (what we talked about above), a moon sign, and also a rising sign. All of these make us who we are.

Now let's throw in the facts that all of the planets (and each planet ruls certain aspects) at your exact time of birth were in certain houses (total of twelve, on a graph it looks like a circle bisected 6 times), and all of these major (called "ruling") planets are scattered around for your particular exact time and date. Each of these houses rule what are major to most humans... business success, money, relationships, etc. There are favorable, unfavorable, and neutral relations to the positons of all these planets that can be used to predict areas that will come easier, as well as, harder to each of us.

Now certainly if you go to this extent (and there is software out there to make it a no brainer), you can compare your comprehensive chart with a love interest to see if you are both on the same path, or not.  The areas you are most likely to possibly clash. But there are no guarantees.  For example, I know that this lifetime (mine) is all about compassion, relationships, and boundries for my soul growth. Does that show in my full natal chart. *sigh* Yeah. In fact the written description of who I am based on my natal chart had me thinking "Holy bejeebees, this is a roadmap to the core of my being and must never fall into anyones hands."  With that said, I can't say every person who would get one would agree, but it's interesting and insightful.

So SilverLion, I think (for me), if we're simply talking Sun signs... well it's not resonable to turn someone away.

Here they are again, with Trappist-1, It's parent star, that has a similar role as our Sun, but with a much longer lifespan, being cooler.

The biology may be complex, with  " Super Intelligent Aliens ", due to the age of The Planets, and No Such Nonsense as being ' Illegal Aliens '.

This is very exciting, my friends !

Houston ! ...  We have a great sighting out there.  It's The First Realistic opportunity to find evidence of Alien Life.

No, No, Not Illegal ones, there is " No Such Entity ", as Illegal Aliens anywhere in our galaxy.  Take a close look at the 7 New Earth Like Planets, we have discovered today.

They are orbiting a star named ' Trappist -1 ',  and the planets appear to have water on them ?.

I would say thank-you for the compliments but I cannot since they are tied to something I don't believe in and are speculative. Anyone can take any character trait especially the ones that are complimentary and apply them towards any so-called sign, frankly I find it ridiculous.  There is an argument that there is a 13th sign, it was quite a while ago that I read about it.  It can also be said that the constellations originally had to do with God and the bible refers to them, they were twisted later.  I have barely learned about the descriptions in Bible Study but it was interesting.

SL, you fit in more in Cali since you seem to be liberal. That's all I have to say on that matter.

**  Jenknee  **

But of course, ... Those complimentary character traits were generic and a generalisation.   The intent was to get your attention and reaction.

Thanks for being astute enough, to figure that out.

To date, no one has come forward to confirm or deny Compatability based on Astro Signs.   I'm pretty sure, many have had, either harmonious or disastrous results based on the compatability chart.

Since it is a feature on every profile here, It would be interesting to hear from those, with past experiences.

Stan is amazingly quiet on your blog re this his favorite subject.

**  rmac22  **

Yes Sir, I agree with you regarding Stan and his favorite subject.  In fact, when I wrote the header to this topic, I was tempted to say, ...  " Stan, This One is Dedicated To You ".

However, ambivalence kicked in, when I recalled Miss Diana ' BeWell ', as being an equally ardent scholar of Astrology.

Perhaps when the election frenzy subsides, they may both find solace in the planetary positions for 2017, and share with us, their anecdotes thereof.

Good evening Silverlion!

I was a tomboy up until the age of about 30.

Never liked dressing up, wearing make-up or other girly stuff.

When I backpacked I was truly in my element.

Once whilst traveling to see the works of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, I stopped in a small town in Spain...can't even remember the name.    I never worried traveling by myself.  However, whilst walking a busy street (in search of great food) a Spainard stepped in front of me mumbling something which I immediately assumed was offensive.  Before I knew it words that would shame a sailor came flying out of my mouth.  Here is a lesson about bad words, they are always understood.  Doesn't matter what language they are spoken in.  Long story short, I was brushed off as being a crazy American and left alone.  Oh...the food was FABU...dang I wish I could remember where it was...smile

I have grown a lot since then.  However when pushed...I do see red and advance with horns posed.

Remain blessed.

**  Dolcedileche  **

I just can't imagine you seeing red and advancing with ' horns posed '.  Thanks for those nice pictures, by the way.  Very sweet.  Perhaps it's just being a Taurus, that makes you feel like one ?.

The tomboy part, ... Yeah, I can see you giving the young men ' a run for the money ', being very atheltic.

It has been a while since I last hung out in Spain, mid seventies.  It is where I had discovered the joys of a good Tapas bar, followed by an afternoon siesta, in Madrid.

We have plenty of Tapas bars here now, so the next time you come over, we can go Tapas hopping.

Je vous souhaite un joyeux Noël,

Interestingly, Wiseman's books are both iffy and rife with questionable methods, in itself.

As one of the reviewers so ardently rationalized, that his great hate of Astrology, stems from  Virgo Impotence.

I wonder what Stan has to say about that ?.

It is a bias based on studies that have looked into it and concluded that it, Astrology, is not valid.

See for example: Quirkology: How We Discover the Big Truths in Small Things, Richard Wiseman.

A short look on the internet leads one to know that there are raging arguments refuting the refuters.  Makes your head hurt.

I think I will let the subject rest.  : - )

Interesting perpsective, Thanks.   I can concur with your feelings, in the romance department 100 %.

" Square Peg in this state of California ", you are ? ... Now that may be aside from Astrology, but I can relate to it, all very well.   When I decided to ' go west as a young man ',  from New York to L A.,  my intelligent peers thought I had lost my mind.

When I asked them why they had felt that way, ... The answer was ;

" That place is full of fruit and nuts, as in fruitcakes and nutto's, who sue each other day and night ".

Well, after 25 years of living there, my East Coast buddies may have been Astrologers, in their own capacity.

I shall reserve ' the rest of the story ' for now.

Insofar as you being a Cancer, I would venture to say that you are, highly intelligent, sensitive, very caring, family oriented, protective, faithful, creative, and intuitive.

The last sentence regarding your beliefs, is pretty hilarious !... well said.   I think it most probably echoes the sentiments of just about everyone who reads their Astrological ' character traits '.

Not so sure, that one can justly say, to honor Kelper for Astrology, " is like honoring Him for his weakness ".   That comes across as a personal bias.  Even though many may regard Astrology as a pseudoscience at this juncture, who can say if we have only just ' scratched the surface ' of it ?

Case in point, .... Among 3,458 soldiers, Jupiter was found 703 times.  Chance predicts this should be 572.  Wouldn't it be interesting if, of all the celestial movements conceivable, a great many could be correlated with personality traits.

Any thoughts on that ?

The question by the OP was:

How much faith do you place on Birth Signs for compatibility, when choosing a soulmate

Not only do I not care whatsoever what anyone's "sign" is, IF the person I am interested in gives any credence to his so-called sign and horoscope then i can't really take him seriously and usually move on quickly.

You asked , i told.  Astrology is another reason why I am a Square Peg in this state of California.

Kepler is honored by the scientific community for making the first steps away from the Ptolemy model of the solar system.  Yes, he also believed in Astrology.  Per the scientific community honoring him for Astrology is like honoring him for his weaknesses rather than for his strengths.

My own belief in Astrology is to the extent it says nice things about Aquarians it is true.  Everything bad is says about Aquarians is nonsense.  : - )

Thanks for picking up on my error.   Yes, I did mean ' when Astrology began to blossom ', and I believe it to be the period during The Renaissance, when there was rekindled interest in science and Astronomy as well.

With regards to Kepler, my understanding is that there was no clear distinction between Astronomy and Astrology during His era.

Perhaps the reason why, one can earn credits in Astronomy, History and Psychology, ... while studying 'Astrology' at the new Kepler College in Seattle.

The Reagans had a long history of involvement with Astrologers and Psychics.  They were friends with Caroll Righter in Hollywood, attending his " Zodiac Parties ", prior to The White House days.

Jean Dixon was Nancy's personal advisor.   Merv Griffin later introduced Nancy to Joan Quigly, when they decided to make a run for the Oval Office.

Subsequently, Nancy had retained Quigly all during The Reagan Presidency, and consulted with her on all important scheduling.   It was no secret.

I think it is ironic that a College named Kepler is teaching anything about Astrology.

Re “…when Astronomy began to blossom,” did you perhaps mean “when Astrology began to blossom?”  Astronomy is a very old and legitimate science.  They are quite different.

I think everyone taking Astrology seriously would be a good thing to lose.

I did not know President Reagan consulted with an Astrologer.  Maybe that explains his belief in supply side economics.

Time and location of birth likely does have something to do with personality.  Babies born in northern latitudes in the winter likely have a more sheltered life for the first months of their life than those born in the summer.  This likely has some influence on their personality.  In horse and buggy days that influence would likely be  more profound than now.

Thanks for your observations, and opinions on this topic.  You are quite accurate and in tune with a lot of what it seems to portray.

However, in keeping an open mind, ... What are your thoughts regarding The Kepler College ?

As someone experienced in The Education Field, do you perhaps feel that we kind of lost track, so to speak, with what had been a very important part of life during the period when Astronomy began to blossom.

As you may know, former President Reagan always consulted with an Astrologer, during His terms as POTUS.

For folks who believe in astrology, their personalities will show significant correlation based on the answers they give to tests aimed at validating or not astrology.  For those who do not believe in astrology, no correlation whatsoever.

Despite repeated scientific proclamations that astrology is utter nonsense large numbers of people take it very seriously.

I don’t take it seriously.
