** Knock, knock,... Aaw shoot !,... Run & Hide ? ... **

How do you, or should we react when someone we do not wish to see knocks on the door ?.

For example the ex-lover, Jehovah's witness,  paper boy, "Snake oil salesman", Tithe collector, neighbor borrowing sugar, and so on...

Or perhaps you see the lights on, at a friend's place where you have "an open invitation" for coffee or a cocktail.

You stop, knock on their door, ... and obviously they run and hide.

Is any of this behaviour rude, impolite or acceptable ?.

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Puff, puff,

It's truly wonderful to ' see you ' back on The Boards once-more. You were missed, for sure.

The innocence of children, is one of the most treasured parts of our lives, all of us having been there at some point in time.

However, the three year old whom you've quoted, is an absolute ' original ' , without any doubt., albeit unknown to him. Assuming that it is not a concocted story of course.

Getting back to business ; Any thoughts on why there are so many ' hidden profiles ' on the site lately ?.

In other words, ... Why do people wanting to meet others, go into hiding ?. .... Anyone know ? .

Help me understand.

Thanks,

~~ S. L. ~~

~~ To All ~~

Just a little observation, which reminded me of this topic that was created several years ago.

I've recently noticed that, there are many ' hidden ' profiles here, much to my surprise.

This begs the question ; Why would anyone want to ' hide ', when the reason for being here in the first place, is to meet a special someone ?.

I am obviously missing something, so kindly fill me in.

Thanks,

Interesting question... :)   Stress comes from resisting the moment. :)

Your observation on this topic,  is very accurate.   Love that closing line.

It always amazes me,  as to how few people, can put themselves in the other person's shoes,  before getting their panties in a wad or knickers in a twist.

I feel that it is equally important,  whether dealing with a stranger at the door or loved ones,  who get taken for granted all too often.

Thanks for your follow up question.  I had a hunch that you may be curious about the cliff-hanger events that led up to this topic.

It's a long story to relate here, somewhat personal, but i will gladly share it by e-mail since it covers an entire chapter in one of my non-fiction book projects.

I may not continue to ' blog ' here much longer, due to obvious reasons.  I will however, remain grateful for the friends and intellectuals like you, who made it enjoyable for the past seven-plus years.

It would be delightful to meet you and other seasoned writers, should the contemplated get-together, ever come to fruition.  Or any future travel agenda that may fit the occasion to do so.

Fond Regards,

Ken.

Hi Ken, wow, that would be grand to keep in touch. I'm not a member here though. Sorry for the delay in responding, had difficult times with the writing. I'll check back here for response.

Also am going to leave this site after, wish to thank the few ones I had so much pleasure to laugh with, like Bepositive, and her remarquable friend, or Diana, just love that girl :).

So you won't continue to blog here.  Interesting..perhaps many will also move on.  Hopefully, you will keep in touch with the group you have come to consider friends (by email).  And they will let us know how you are getting on.

A bientot for now.

Thanks, that's sweet SL.Your contribution here is as well original.  I can see the list is long, the variety is on the "menu". Now curious as of what happened on Christmas day. Overall, we may make an inventory, well I think it's already done; and study or dissect each one (sorry, i'm in a writing process and a bit obsessed about the right words). Ok, really what happened? it appears to me that some type of business contacts, for instance didn't go well.

It's a bit slippery on here hehehe Does make any sense what i'm saying?

@MaryClaire

I love the trains over there....nothing beats them.  So far (Stateside)haven't tried AMTRAK so it would be an adventure for me..smile

@ROC - Correct! The DMV is terrible with snow events.  We are just (even as I type) being plowed out of 3 ft.

Now this fellow is a delicacy my ex-inlaws LOVED..smile

So...leave Squiggles the Squirrel ALONE..lol

A good night!!!

Good evening!

All sounds good.  If MC and SL are crossing the great "pond" for a gathering, I can roll on the mighty AMTRAK.

Now...if I could just get out the front door.  The highest snowfall in the DMV is 36.5″ and it's still coming down.  Well... to be expected since December 25 was 67 degrees.

Remain blessed.

Thanks for the gracious comment. Always refreshing to hear from you.

To answer your question, ... I usually write from my personal thoughts and feelings.  This topic came to mind after a few unusual incidents on Christmas day.  Will spare you those details for now.

There is much more to the topic.  Such as, business and personal phone call screening.  The lies when a commoner calls for an appointment with an egocentric low class hero, the likes of whom could be politicians, lawers and other self proclaimed celebs.

The list goes on, including the all important call for a date, privacy issues and behaviour sources.

Feel free to elaborate on any such or related experiences, be it serious or side splitting funny.

KEN , sorry for the coconut throw ..I hope your brain is not juggled and shaken ..Hahaha ..

Hey , I didn't know you know something about coconut milk ..I advice you not to use it ofter ..it is very rich in fat ..it causes "High Blood Pressure " ..I will tell you something  ..my Birthplace and the whole region is known for its yummy recipes using coconut milk ..when I left the place in 1980 all the people I know are still alive but when I came back for a vacation in 1988 , all of them are dead even the people younger than I am because of Hypertension ..

Ken , I think thats a very good idea that the group will meet  , maybe in summer ..For me , the nearest city is New York , its only 6 hours from Munich and it is halfway for everybody ..What do you think ??

** Maryclaire2000 **

Most likely, the environment caused their early passing away, seeing that you are still around and full of ' vim & vigour '.

Coconut-milk cuisine should not be any more harmful if accompanied with a fine Sauvignon Blanc, Reisling or Gewurztraminer,  for example.  Wine acids do break down fatty substances in general.  The French are famous for eating, drinking and smoking everything sinful, yet have a low cholesterol related incidence of death.  Moderation being the key factor.

Coconut-milk in spicy exotic cuisine is just truly fabulous... everyday and twice on sundays, Mmm !.

You suggestion for New York sounds good, working on it.

Cheers,

Ken.

Ken,

Finding a place (that we would all agree upon) is a wonderful idea.  It would be so nice to meet all the happy bloggers in person.  We should all put our thinking caps on.

** bepositive & All **

My thinking cap is leaning towards an outdoor get together in the Summer.  A farm, camping ground, back-yard or similar.

' Voyager ' Michael had contemplated a get together at his farm in New York, but I seriously doubt that he will follow through after his ' grenade tossing ' fracas.  I will send him an invitation though, can't hurt to try.

Now that we all have had the pleasure of seeing a picturesque green pasture replete with ' Trigger ', wouldn't it be memorable to land in that back-yard with a hot-air balloon ?.

Then we shall see if Roy Rogers runs and hide, ... ha, ha.

Ooo K, Markey, ... just kidding !.  Well, sorta.

Another tranquil option,  could be Boston.  There we may have a real Tea Party with ' nibbly bits ' and then some.

But seriously, i have an intellectual crush with a lady there, who selectively comments here periodically.  It would be special to meet her, a pillar or column of inspiration.

If all else fails, we could storm into Prez Fishy's Domain.  Brain food season and spawning time too !... What could be better ?.

We may even get lucky to have a Moose B B Q, with a fine Chianti.

Where are you Prez ?... Don't even think of running to hide.

Puff, puff,

Ah, wonder why this question? :). But interesting. I would say I always try to treat ppl with same respect of culture, gender, social position, in situations that interest me or not. Maybe because i'm curious about everyone, but basically, because we live in a very individualistic and violent world, some humanity and compassion is in order for me. Being kind is the most important to me, I cannot stand unjustified arrogance.

In the case of silence or running away, I would qualify this behavior as avoidant, and I try not to do that. I prefer to communicate, negotiate, instead of giving the cold shoulder.
