Seriously I don’t get why the post pictures of better looking guys not theirs. And like the last guy that messaged me felt offended like cmon we want to meet the guy in your profile picture so if that person is not you of course we won’t be interested

I have been scammed a few times,  Not seriously in sense I lost a lot of money.  There are ways of checking.  One is if their cell phone signal is coming from a tower in Phoenix Arizona when they say they are in South Africa.  Instant affection is another.  That one you may want to watch awhile.  One it is a lot of fun.  And two, maybe instant chemistry at a distance can happen.  They will give themselves away soon enough.  An almost sure clue is they will put up with anything.  You can't make any written dating mistakes bad enough to scare them away.  Again wait awhile.  It is possible you found someone unusually tolerant.  A good thing right.  They will give themself away soon enough.

If you challenge them in a text and you get huge multiple texts back faster than anyone could possibly do it.  You are not dealing with a real person.  You are dealing with a set of pretty pictures and ten fat men in a boiler room.

I am still in love with that one set of pictures.  Wish she was real.

I thought it was the site’s job to at least VERIFY PHOTOS. Forget the income - make sure the people are for real.
You shouldn’t allow anyone to sign up if they are not going to post a photo that was verified. Before I signed up I was happy to read that you guys checked before allowing someone to become a member.
Well, you don’t!

I'm surprised you played along with him so long. You have brains matched by few here. How did he initially capture your attention? I would assume his written English (and interpersonal observations) would be the giveaway, upfront, for someone as savvy as you. You're a lousy target, if the scammer only had the sense to read opening line of your profile, and indeed your username.

As a male, I haven't received one scammer proposition. Don't know what to make of that.

I have a little free time so I play along either their game then give them my excuses tieing them up in their own game. Money and inheritance always comes up. Something should be set up on this site to quickly get rid of them and expose them in their states or countries.

I encountered a scam this morning. My experience: 1. He wanted to get off the MM site right away, to texting or email. 2. He deleted his MM profile almost immediately, but sent info via email or text. 3. Always texts, never calls. Says he likes texting. We have been texting for a few days now. Have not met him.  4. Asked for money this morning.  Mine gave an excuse that he was on a business trip in Turkey and his wallet got stolen. His bank froze his account and card. His camera wasn’t working and he needed a new one  to do his job. Wanted me to arrange to have a camera sent to him. Nikon D5600. They are about $600. He said the consulate gave him the contact info for a diplomat who could arrange expedited shipping and the whole thing could be  done  for $1200. Diplomat wanted to be paid using an iTunes gift card in denominations of $50 and $100. The scammer said he’d pay me back “with interest” once he got back to the United States. I said that was quite a lot for shipping. He insisted he was legitimate, sent me a photo of his passport, and even sent me a photo of a bank statement showing a lot of funds, but all  currently “unavailable” to be withdrawn.

I called the US Embassy in Turkey. They said no US diplomat would do such a thing. Moreover, it was the fourth call this week that the US Embassy had received regarding similar requests. The scammer got very incensed and indignant  that I would not send money, and blocked me. Whew!!!! Dodged a bullet there! Interesting experience!  Now I will be more careful. To echo another comment made here, he did say in his MM profile the brief time that it was up, that he was widowed. Probably to get sympathy.

The truth is, the internet has opened up a vast new world for millions of people in ways that could hardly be conceived a generation ago, but while it has created a myriad of opportunities for online entrepreneurs, it has also opened a floodgate for scammers, especially platforms like this, therefore it is very important that all members act with due care.

Here are some of my observations about scammers. Early in the conversation they mention that either their parents have died or their spouse died. They don't use good English grammar. One particular red flag is when they say they look forward to reading from you soon. Another red flag is when their profile shows they are living in a different location than what they tell you. Finally, if they delete their profile shortly after exchanging numbers or regular email I get suspicious. If I have any suspicions I request a video chat before putting much effort into the conversation.

Hi, I'm new to the site, and have experienced what others have written here, concerning scammers. I have learned to be extremely careful, and hyper vigilant, which I notice becomes a problem with my search for the right person, because I don't want to scare away a REAL prospect!!

Can you give some suggestions??

I am getting bombarded daily by users that are "currently unavailable".

@ MsSmartandHot ,

Don' t worry you are  not the only one who got such

experiences .. I think  most of the members here too.

It is a blessing in disguise ..those guys are not serious .

I always send a guy for verification specially if he wrote

more zeros in his Networth and Annual Income..

That means we are doing our job.  Unavailable usually means they were scammers and we blasted them off the site.  Keep those referrals coming in!!!   Stick with members that are either paying members or have his/her photo verified.   Happy searching......:)

Most show they are widowed as well. They ask how long you've been online dating and what your experience has been, always ask for an email address.
