I can't stand the fact that people have nothing better to do and make it their mission to catfish people because of their own insecurities.

This is what makes it so hard to date online!!!!

They take advantage of your kindness and it really hurts.

Hopefully this site is different.

Shout out if this has ever happened to you.

Reference MaryClaire2000,

E9 in the Air Force are addressed as Sargent or Chief. The LTC rank a dead giveaway when saying they are a Sargent. if you are aware. For the Air Force the new rank insignia is 3 stripes over 5 under (if that’s understandable).

Trust but verify. Look for a trend that things don’t look or feel right to you.

@JayEnyd ,

Lissy, Men or woman it happens to both. Since Nov 2017 I have been in contact with 170 women on 3 dating sites. I have seen everything you described. And it’s not generational. I am always respectful. I state and show it in my actions that I’m a man with integrity and will always be honest and straightforward. I’m always kind. But, yet someone sent my profile, prior to me coming to MM, to every dating site on the internet. I didn’t deserve that. But, I deal with it and learn. I continuously improve who I am, even though I’m older now. After 30+ years out of the dating life I have updated my dating philosophy and even what I need to provide to the next woman in my life as it pertains to intimacy and her wants and needs. To easy today to have your love interests head turned and someone steal them away.

I’ll close with this. Trust but verify. In verifying you see a bad trend end it. Do it respectfully and be kind, but, do not lie. There is no good reason to ask someone new in your life for money for any reason. Financial obligation starts at “I Do”. An electronic relationship is not a relationship. Relationship begin when you see and experience the others life in person everyday.

Good luck in your search - Jay

But he didn’t realize he was emailing a Vet. When I called him out on it the emails suddenly stopped(sarcasm) lol

Yes. It’s so difficult to be taken advantage of. Ask a lot of questions. Even if a man is older, don’t think he is wise or genuine.

I am a victim of a classic Tinder catfish. I was speaking to such an attractive guy and we were really clicking. I got all excited about my new flame and showed my friend a picture of him. She took one look and proceeded to burst my bubble, telling me that he was using pictures of a famous YouTuber on his profile.

He messaged me later that day asking what I’d been up to, so I said, “Oh nothing… I’ve just been watching episodes of Catfish all day”. He blocked me – such a shame.

Be generous wih your interior soul, but if you give what is meant in marriage only, then the pain is greater. Integrity is attractive, lust is fleeting

I get scammed 4times a month minimum. Asking for money is very common. On the other hand easy to find out. City girls at a popular bar in a major city like Frankfurt are not so much different though:))

Catfish is a title given to fake profiles. Certain catfish profiles are managed from Africa and are used to financially scam people looking for love by leading them into a virtual love story and then once they are under the spell requesting their help. Once the money is sent, they vanish into the thin air and to the next victim.

Other type can be married man looking for adventure etc. that's the light cases.

I am extremely new to all this and some advise someone said is that if you might be interested in someone, ALWAYS do a video chat in the very beginning of talking to someone, so you can at least see who your talking to

A TV Doco aired I believe is helping people to distinguish some of the hallmarks now of the Catfish play. Never once happen to me in all the years I've been online thus far, but it is pretty prevalent based on this below:

Jul 7, 2015 - To "catfish" is to "lure someone into a relationship by adopting a fictional online persona." The person doing the deceiving is the catfish. Nev Schulman, the subject of the 2010 documentary, first brought viewers into the world of deceptive online relationships as he attempted to track down an Internet love.

OK, I'll bite, what does Catfish mean?

@dadgad56 ,

Catfish is one sort of fish which is slimy and slippery ..you can

catch it only  with a special catcher and it could be found in muds ..

and rivers now that you know what is it you can associate catfish

with men ..or do I have to explain it  ??
