While she's busy distracting him, you give him the quick one, two 👊🏻👊🏻 and exit stage right (or left) together!

I wouldn't be packing my bags anytime soon if I were you.  Most Asian cultures, which are family centered, are patriarchal.  Women are placed in subservient roles and even adult children are expected to be obedient as long as their parents are alive.

I don't have a great deal of experience with Asian women in America but I have dated Chinese, South Korean and Vietnamese women who would not have anything to do with Asian men because those men still cling to those outdated attitudes about women.  One of the things that I was surprised to learn is that there are American men who only date Asian women because of the perception that they dote on and serve their men.  A rather derisive term for these men is "rice chasers" and dating sites and travel agencies cater to them and plan rather expensive trips to China to find Chinese brides.

Although my experience has been limited I also found some cultural differences that I couldn't live with.  I understand that some men would find them rather endearing. The marriages of the women I knew, were arranged marriages.  Love was never a prerequisite.  It all seemed to revolve around money and clinging to their ancient culture.  The Chinese woman I dated would send money back to her mother in China.  The thing that I found disturbing was that the mother would give that money to her son.  This poor woman was being subservient to her brother.  The other thing I was at odds with was that this Chinese woman disowned her daughter and has not spoken to her for the past 5 years.  Her daughter came to the States when she was 5 years old.  She was disowned because she became too Americanized and was disobedient.  Her daughter just finished her PhD in Political Science from GWU and her mother didn't even attend her graduation

Mariage in American has changed.  Whether you like it or not some women do want to pursue careers outside of marriage.  The gloomy picture painted of marriage in America seems to cling to the old archaic notion that a woman's place is in the home. I feel, and think most women would agree, that a woman's place is whereever she chooses it to be.  Women are getting more educated and are getting more grad and post grad degrees than their male counterparts.  More men are become Mr. Moms and quite a few single women are deciding to become moms on their on.   It's all about choices and women in America have more choices than ever before.

No, chivalry is not dead it's just more difficult to find.  Enterprising women will find it.

No worries.  I was joking on the moving there part. It would be nice to find a happy balance.  Sadly, they too, deal with unfortunate circumstances.  Your stories were very enlightening and informative.  Thanks for sharing your interesting stories.  😀

The world is just not as friendly a place as it used to be.  Some people seem afraid of their own shadows.

I remember a time when these blogs were comprised of a large group of very diverse individuals from across the country and around the world.  No subject was off limits, most everyone participated in almost every new blog and new members were happily welcomed.

What happened?  The blogs have become as bland as a cold bowl of porridge.  Most new blogs die an early death.  I haven't been here long and doubt I'll stay on.  I've made of few comments on several blogs and, other than rmac, no one chose to respond.

Sad, but so very true, ZAC!  Seems like we live in a whole different world 🌎 these days!

This whole site has changed, as well.  Very little interaction.  No more days of chat open to everyone.

Yes, rmac and a few others, are long time dependable commenters.

Hang in there, and thanks for chiming in! 😀

Don't tempt me! 😀   I thought of you last night, when my daughter and I went out to eat.  A young boy held the door for us. Then, on the way out, I held the door for 2 children and their father. That seems to still be one thing that many still follow.  Now if only other common etiquettes and courtesies, would be followed as well.  And even on a bigger platform, more love, peace, kindness, selflessness, goodness, and generosity,... and less hate, war, hurt, selfishness, and crime.

Aww thats sweet ..You see we just have to show to the People

that there is still a Room for chivalries.. You and me have learned a lot of good things from our Parents ..besides Good

Manners and Right Conducts are integrated in our Curriculum

from Elementary to High School ..and when I was in College my Parents sent me to a College run by the Nun's that I also wish I want to be 1 of them but my Dad had opposed and told me I will just messed them up ..Lol ..because I was so full of life ..so there is no reason for me not to behave good ..but I did enjoyed my childhood and as a young Woman...NO Regrets..Haha..

Asian cultures are not old fashion, I would not phrase it that way. They understand the value of family, and responsibility imposed upon on all adults to make sure that their kids are safe, and women are protected at all cost. As far as us man, who cares lol

I am not implying by any means North American culture is bad. Just some people have walked away from good old principles of a family which were practiced here as well. We are one self-centered, materialistic society now..oh well

For me, "old-fashioned," is in essence, saying "good old principles."

This reflects the way that I was raised, but is sadly, hard to find these days.

Aww, how sweet.  I love it when little ones are already holding doors for people. I taught mine to do the same, as do I, and I even do it for the men.

Sounds like I need to move to Germany, and explains why I'm the way that I am, as I'm mostly German!

Hope you've been well! 😀

Practicing chivalry is fun.

However, if ever I should be so unfortunate as to be attacked, while walking about with a lady, I expect her to be on my attackers back scratching his eyes out while I am hitting him for all I am worth.

No time for being a delicate little flower then

@RMAC,

Love your Comment and its supercalifragilistic funny ..

But I have seen those scenes in Films..

I honestly feel sorry for women in US or even Canada as I have lived in both countries and Asia. Over here Parents kick even girls out of the home after college, then they go from one boy friend to another, work till they find a decent guy to marry him, they continue to work and pay half the bills or less, get pregnant, get few weeks of maternity leave, back to work, child is raised by day cares, two bitchy husband and wife get home pass 6 pm for dinner, pick kids from day care on their way back, husband spends sundays in shorts watching football game, she cooks clean, sometime even cuts the grass. The saga continues.

On the other hand lol in Asian cultures...

Daddy and mother raise the children together. Dad Pays for college, get them the best education, never let especially the daughters to leave home till they get married. Husband works like a dog and wife stays home and enjoys life :)

Yes there are pros and cons of both societies, however honestly I do feel bad for women here. Women are like roses, must be handled with care and North American men are lazy bums making their wife to work and pay bills. I just can't believe that men here even expect a women to pay her fare share of dinner bills while out on a date. Ridiculous.

Now you really have me thinking that I'm living in the wrong country!  I'm old-fashioned, so the Asian culture sounds more fitting.

:) I have a bad habit of deleting old comments for no particular reason.

If women in North America allow men to remain, a gentleman, Chivalry can be revitalized in the US. It does exist in most part of the world as women over there are much smarter and they prefer to be the puppeteer rather than the puppet a.k.a man :)

Let's not confused equality with the pure beauty of feminine power. A relaxed, well rested, well loved, well eaten healthy woman is what we all man want. We have enough of pissing contest at work with our fragile egos and then to top it, deal with a woman in pants at home.....Nah!

Like the fragile egos you mentioned... some of us women still do like being treated like fragile ladies, at least to an extent.

Now you've got me thinking that maybe I'm living in the wrong country! 😀

The head waiter at an informal Irish pub said, "That's my job," when I was pulled and held the chair for a lady.  Her response, "Never too many gentlemen."
