I try as much as possible to avoid following the celebrity culture but that of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie could not be avoided even if one lived in a cave under the surface of the earth.  The start of their relationship was marred with rumours of infidelity on the part of Brad Pitt, but hey as I always say only the people involved know the truth of the situation.

In spite of these rumours they seemed to go from strength to strength expanding their brood to six and progressing to cement their relationship with a wedding just 2 years ago but in all they were together for 12 years.  I really admired them for how they pulled together to parent the kids and were supportive of each other’s careers.

It is a real shame to hear in the news today that sadly their marriage has also become a statistic; they couldn’t make it to the end.  My heart really goes out for their kids.

I hope for the sake of the kids they will pull together to make the separation easier and smooth and co-parent as they did when they were together.

Oh no.  I was soo hoping Jennifer Aniston's marriage with Justine Theoroux will last but unfortunately it didn't. A part of me wishes for Jennifer and Brad to get back together now that they are both single?  I don't know guess we'll have to watch the space.

I am not denying that they have not done good things..kudos to them.

I just don't see them as a role model for people. That's all.

I think we'll be here all day on the role model issue

What I find ironic that they have prenup about money but no clause about kids lol. That just proves my point it's well orchestrated drama.

With 400 million of net worth they could have opened over 1000 schools and changed the life's of millions.

I think they did a lot of good though building schools and helping orphans and various people in need.  They built houses for survivors of hurricane Katrina if I remember correctly?

I would rather they had not gotten divorced, but they did not ask my permission.  Likely would not have followed my advice anyhow.  I feel bad for the children.  They had no choices involved either in the selection of their parents or the divorce itself.

They seemed to have it all together but sadly their marriagge didn't work.  I really feel for the kids as well.  Thanks for comments

Well this is the reason I don't like Hollywood actors as role models. They portray a fake life style; I have spent some time with few LA actors in my life. They are all on pills each day, cocaine addicts etc. not all but most.

They adopted kids like someone has a hobby of collecting cabbage dolls, now divorcing each other and little children brains will get tortured for no reason. It is enough of the struggle to be adopted and now more drama to deal with.

Just imagine how our kids were affected with no lime light on them when we got divorced. It took me good 15 years (with the help of his mother) to have my son grow up to be normal kid. And I am talking one kid. This is just irresponsible behavior. Period.

There are days when my son gets all frustrated about his mother (she still got some growing up do) and I always remind my son that always respect his mother regardless of her some short comings, BECAUSE the best decision she ever made was to give me full custody of him, never dragged me in courts, never asked for any money etc. She put him first!

So till I die, I will always be in her debts and I will always respect her as person who gave me a beautiful child.

Unfortunately they are splashed everywhere and one cannot avoid them.  Hmm impact of divorce on children should not be underestimated at all in any shape or form.

I just read Angelina has been granted temporary full custody.  I hope someone whispers to her she will definately need Brad's support with the girls in the not too distant future.  The boys during the teen years is a walk in the park.

Good evening all!

Loved Mr. and Mrs Smith.  Never really cared but regarded them as a cool couple.  My concern is with the children.  Poor babies.

Remain blessed.

Yes the kids are the main concern; especially born in the limelight and having to mourn the demise of their parents' divorce publicly.

It was a bad joke on my part. I don't think guys really care that they broke up thats what I meant.

In all hoensty, when I was a young man I really liked Angelina as woman as well as an actor. I hope their kids grow up to be happy persons. Well they got 400 million in assets. Should be a smooth divorced but they may fight over custody.

On the other hand Brad is available now. Which one of you is making the first move?

You will be surprised how many guys care

While many smirked, I have to say, I was just broken hearted to hear the news.  They were my favorite couple!  I thought they had it all:  bright, talented, compassionate, generous, sexy, beautiful, successful....totally in love and gorgeous family.  I thought together they had somehow defeated the challenges/scars of how they were reaised.  Both suffered less than optimal childhoods.  Him:  Abusive father;  Her:  Abandoned and rejected by her father.

My heart totally goes out to this family and hope they will somehow get past all this trouble with their dignity intact.  The dirt is sure to fly.  The poor children!

Diana thanks for your comments; divorce is not easy on the parties but for the children it is even more difficult.  I was sent a link of an episode of The View where Jamie Lee Curtis talks about the pain of children of celebrity parents going  through a divorce; no one could have put the experience better than she did.  I wish them well during this difficult time.

My daughter was telling me that she heard they were arguing on an airplane (their own/private im sure),,then one of the kids (oldest probably) jumped in and iI guess the way he treated their child was the deal breaker. Someone reported the incident as well and investigators were waiting. Brad had been drinking.

A low key divorce is really hard on the kids let alone on such a world stage.  My heart really goes out to the kids.  Not only do they have to deal with the divorce but the unwanted attention as well. Thanks for your comments

Hi Maryclaire, it looks like the children are being used as a bargaining tool; I hope they are able to resolve their differences amicably.  Thanks for comments
