Sometime last year I saw a video of school kids as young as maybe 5 being taken through safety drills in case there is a gun shooter in their school.  It sent chills down my spine and I thought children are not able to be children anymore.  Instead of waking up and getting excited about the friends they are going to meet in school and the games they share in the playground they have to worry about the possibility of a shooter in their school every single day.

Fast forward November 24th 2017 and I decide to take a stroll through London’s Oxford Street to check out the Christmas lighting as well as the possible deals on ‘black Friday’.  About 20 minutes into my window shopping whilst still talking to a customer service assistant, I notice a sea of people just running towards the exit and we ask the question what is going on and nobody answers but just heads for the exit.  Another stream pf people run towards our direction to the exit and shouted gun shot.  It was the scariest moment of my life.  We were just running, as to where we were headed we didn’t think about it.  Suddenly a Good Samaritan appeared and directed us towards a CBRE building. We all like sheep being herded just flooded this building.  The staff directed us to their basement and provided us with water, frequent updates from their security, connected the TV for us so we could listen to the news for update and also opened their Wi-Fi so we could easily connect to our loved ones outside.

There was a couple with their baby who I would say was about 2 to 3 months old.  Another young lad about 7 just dropped on the floor in panic and his mum kept reassuring him that we were okay.  Teens were crying all around us and shaking like a leaf.  I was just frozen.  After about an hour we were let out as it was safe and we had to make our individual journeys back home-wherever it may be.

The fear, panic and pandemonium is something I pray I never have to experience again or any one for that matter let alone little kids.

It turned out the gun shot was a false alarm.  What became clear to me from this incident is the world is definitely not as we knew it even a few years ago.  If we return home safe to our loved ones after a hard day’s work we ought to give thanks and be truly grateful.

@funtimes, the world is definitely not as we knew it and I don't want to be the prophet of doom but it is getting harder and harder to see good in our world today. Thanks for comments

I know..in our time parents used to kick us out of the house and would say go play outside, now we tell our kids why are you out? where are you? who are you with? Talk with your friends on snap chat....lol

Las Vegas shooter, 5 Million in the bank, but just wanted to kill people for fun I guess. he spent months planning for it, but he is not a terrorist..lol

We glamorize violence, combined with mental illnesses, religious BS, egocentric personality disorders and then money tied to sell of firearms CHEAP. What can you expect afterwards? Just another normal day in the 21st century.

Just 2 minutes ago, my son's school tested the emergency school automated system where you get a phone call, email if some shit happens at his school. Last year, one teacher caught a kid loading a gun inside the washroom. In the US almost every school now has a safety lockdown routine practised few times a year. Its a battleground, within cities, counties and then we have countries fighting with each other in the name of capitalism and religion...
