Smoothies- any favourites?

I bought a smoothie maker the other day and I have been experimenting. So far I've encountered my first major blunder when forgetting to check the tap on the smoothie maker was off while pouring fresh orange juice, only to find that it went all over the table and floor. Oops!! However, they taste great and are healthy especially if you lay off the yogurt and stick to the fruit. Tastes great and is good for you- yey!
So I was wondering if you have any favourite recipes you'd recommend?

Hey Sarah & BnB!

Thanks for your replies. It sounds like my machine just can't take the frozen fruit? I'll try putting in a bit at a time, but it does turn into a sludge that won't budge lol!

Hey Sarah,

My reply got deleted I guess. I'll try again.

My favorite is strawberry/banana. Yummy! I use to use a mix called strawberry fusion. Made the drinks creamy.

Hi ready4unow,

my smoothie maker was cheap from the january sales only ?10. However, had no instructions though. My smoothies only take like min or so. I do chop some of the fruit up a little before I put it in the smoothie maker. As If I didn't the blades would get stuck probably. I havn't tried to crush ice in mine yet. If yours is like mine - it has the three settings 1,2 and P. As far as I was aware the P you just need to press one and it continues to blend, whilst the others you have to hold down. Maybe just try the other setting for your blending. However, I'm no expert at the moment.

Although realising now a smoothie maker is just a blender with a tap. I wouldn't venture and buy an expensive one.

I've been trying to make smoothies lol! Have gone through 2 blenders, the first was a piece of garbage, didn't have enough power to blend anything, so took it back. The 2nd blender is a Cuisinart and even advertises "great for smoothies".

Don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I pour 4 oz. milk, 4 oz. water into the blender first as it instructs to, then I put 1 cup of frozen fruit, mango, peach and blueberries and hit the mix or ice crusher button which works like a pulse button (again like it says to do) and it doesn't freakin' work! I keep having to unplug the blender, stick in a spoon to mix it away from the blade, plug it back in and try this process several times before it even begins to mix. Takes 25 minutes just to make a smoothie! Never mind the electricity it's consuming lol!

I've tried the ice crushing thing with ice & it works great, I must be doing something wrong? Any advice?

My first blender was $20.00 on sale so once again learned you get what you pay for, but the 2nd was $85.00. Maybe I need to be spending more? I'd love to know which smoothie machines you're using?
