Should I complain?

This pissed me off most. I was thinking of> writing a letter of complaint but it would probably> be thrown in the trash can. I was at the airport in> france. The guy had labelled our gate on the ticket.> So we went to the gate to wait. So to get there you> have to go through the scanner. So my friend went> through first. Then I was taking my jewellery off> and my shoes. I was about to put it in the box and> this old man was like- ur too early. I was like but> my friend has gone through. Then he aggressively> grabbed my friends tray and pushed it to my side. I> was like no thats my friends stuff she has gone> through already. Then he grabbed my shoes off me> which had my jewellery in and through it through the> machine. My ring, bracelet and watch went> everywhere. I was like omg I'm never going to find> them in that machine. He looked at me like he didn't> give a shit. I was totally shocked. He didn't even> apologise. So I was worried about my jewellery in> the machinery. The people were like searching me as> everyone got searched and I saw my watch grinding in> the belt and I was like can I get my watch but they> wouldn't let me. I managed to get my jewellery with> the help of nicola and they were diving through my> bag. Seriously I felt soo traumatised - I think the> guy thought I was going to cry. This was a different> guy- nice person. He was like its ok, I just have to> check to make sure. I was just soo annoyed by the> whole ordeal. Amazingly I got my stuff back but my> watch is chipped as it was grinding in the machine-> all because of that stupid old man. Seriously- I> know they have to do checks but you just don't treat> people like that. So that was my worst experience of> the trip. The old man was reaaly agrressive just through observation of his> behaviour. Maybe I should complain. Not sure if> there is any point. I just want an apology not> compensation.

Should I bother or would it be a waste of time?

I think the man should be fired and the airport owes you a new watch.

I had a similar situation in that my luggage was lost and then when it showed up, the NEW large bag was void of handles-completely torn off! I was told to write and complain. I did, they were not willing to pay me the 130 bucks lost on my new luggage. So, what was the point?

I'm surprised they even took the time to respond. I guess sometimes the system works.

OMG!!! Guess what I got this morning. A letter of apology from a manager from the airport.A higher authority manager will be looking into it further. I feel soo much better now!

hi people,

thanks for your advise. I will complain just to see what happens. Nothing to loose.

You DEFINITELY need to contact customer service. There was absolutely no need for that man to be so rude to you. Miserable people are just downright hateful. I know because I work with one. Sara, stand up for yourself and do the right thing...report him! You do not have to accept unacceptable behaviours. And I am sorry that he upset you so much...you are so sweet.

Sarah_sweet,

I had a similar problem at an airport last year in Basel France. I sent a well-crafted letter detailing what happened and I did get a response. I didn?t ask for compensation and if I were you I wouldn?t in this case either. You never know, maybe your letter will be enough to make a change. If we don?t let people know about problems or situations when they occur how can anything be changed. Just my thoughts for today

I would and I'd tell them you're sending the bill to repair your watch! Hell YEAH!!! The frickin' french think they can push anybody around... It's just not right and they need to know that!

I think you would have to know his name to get any satisafaction.

Contact the security company anyway and see they say. I'm guessing they'll say there isn't anything they can do. It might not be worth the effort. TLR

Complain if you think it'll prevent his crude treatment of others...

If you can get over it and accept that some people are just that way, then let it go. Thinking about it will only cause you unwanted stress.
