My first husband was of the opposite political party than I; something I learned later on, really..Truth is, I didn't follow politics at the time and gave it no thought.. But we didn't get along at all! We were like night and day..and had nothing in common.

Second husband and I were of the same political perusasion and got along great..we were soulmates, really, and it was quite traumatic when he died..We just had a general meeting of the minds on all levels.. so different from the first one.
What do you think?..

I know who you're talking about, BlueEyz..It's James Carvel and I think his wife's name is Mary Madeline or something like that..
They are an odd couple. They will pasionately argue different viewpoints right on television and still manage to smile at each other. He did work for Clinton, as a writer I believe, and she is now working for Bush!..

I've seen it work in action. A few years ago I remember there were two commentators on the news, one worked for Clinton and the other was with the RNC. If both partners agree to respect each other's points of view and love the person unconditionally, it can work. This is especially true when both see the value of being Ying to the other's Yang. Unfortunately, all relationships experience conflict and this may be too obvious a difference to survive such conflicts because it would be a natural spot of criticism. This is a great blog - I really appreciate when people post thought provoking questions!
