  • Alexander Wang On Taking the Leap Into Fashion. Posted by Admin

    Alexander Wang

The season has changed and many are pulling out their fall clothes and packing away summer. This time of year also brings out the fashionistas as they head to some of the biggest fashion shows from New York to Paris. Alexander Wang took over New York this September with his creative execution of a runway. We wanted to know how this young designer got his start to becoming a fashion icon. MillionaireMatch got the scoop.

“I think a lot of people look at me, and look at my age and immediately have this perception of the brand,” Wang said. Wang took the risk of starting his line when he was only a sophomore student at Parsons School of Design. “It was at this moment where I felt I was ready for a new challenge,” he said about deciding to leave school. His intuition told him to take the leap and it was right.

A San Francisco native, Wang was later offered a job to work with Diane von Fürstenberg at the age of 20. He said no, because of his commitment to his own label, Alexander Wang. “The best thing about my job is being able to create something and then seeing someone on the street wearing my clothes or bag,” he said.

For his New York Fashion Week 2018 show, Wang decided to do pop-up shows, which he called #WangFest, around the city of New York. The former creative director of Balenciaga said about his line, “There’s always some sort of irony.” Wang enjoys mixing hard looks with softness, and other peculiar touches. “The inspiration process is very organic. It’s always a reaction and a dialogue with everyone that I am working with,” he said. “It’s always to tell a story and to build a connection with the customer, and an audience. I think if you don’t have those two things, it isn’t worth it,” he explained.

Wang also says about his creative process, “There always has to be a reference to something.” He admits his love for sportswear and music and how it influences his work. At this year’s show, Cardi B. was one of the musical performers which seemed to take the crowd’s excitement through the roof. One tip he shared for younger designers, “Never feel like you have figured it out. You always have to be prepared for change and for something to go wrong.” There are times pieces need to be changed just hours before the big show. There are times he experienced changes with the venue or set design. Wang is always ready. “It’s a lot of hard work and a lot of behind the scenes,” he said about the things the public doesn’t get to see.

Women’s wear was Wang’s first venture, but since his 2005 start he has added menswear and accessories. If you’re lucky enough to be in the Big Apple, you can go to his flagship store in lower Manhattan. “Sometimes our customer is a lot younger. Sometimes our customer is a lot older,” he said. “It’s much less about me and more about the brand,” Wang proclaimed.

  • Sweetening Up Your Life with Lisa Sugar Posted by Admin

    Lisa Sugar

The sweetest thing you could do for yourself is create the life that you want. Lisa Sugar, co-creator of PopSugar, did just that. Working as an advertising executive, Sugar was craving to create content as a writer. That passion lead her to launching one of the most popular women’s sites on health, lifestyle, beauty and celebrity news.

“I finally felt wise enough to share some advice,” she said regarding her book Power Your Happy. The mom of three who also runs the company with her husband has a lot she can share to entrepreneurs looking to take the leap. While trying to land her foot into entertainment, she realized that it wasn’t an easy thing. Advertising would fill the void temporarily, but she knew she didn’t want to do in her 30s. Sugar then moved to San Francisco, but soon found that she didn’t want to write about technology. Any chance she could get whether before or after work and even on her lunch break, she started writing posts for PopSugar.

After a year of writing, the site had a million unique impressions. Sugar knew that this was not just a site, but a business. Women could read, “Anything from a political stance to buying new shoes.” The power couple grew the brand while growing the team. What women loved about the site was, “We have been fan friendly since day one.” No celebrity gossip on this site, which also helped Sugar land interviews with stars like Beyonce.

The Sugar couple is seen as a rarity. A couple that works together and successful have a happy life, just isn’t celebrated as much. “I never intended to work with my husband. I never thought we would work together, but we do,” she said. Even though people see them as a power she simply thinks they are, “People who lift each other up.” She advised, “It’s important to surround yourself around people that you are going to learn from.”

The staff at PopSugar is 75% women. Though celebrity news is always a hot topic the most popular vertical on the site now is health. They’ve evolved with the times to include lots of video content. “You have to be faster, stronger and better everyday,” she said regarding competition. “We talk to our audience and editors about being more clever about stories and angles,” Sugar added. She has been lucky to find the right team to keep them ahead of the other media sites out there. “The combination of finding great people who are passionate about finding things first, building those relationships with brands and talent,” said Sugar.

One bit of sweet advice Sugar offered for those who may be on the path like herself, trying to do their passion as a job. “You can find yourself in a job where you are not inspired,” she said. “If you don’t want your bosses job you may be in the wrong place,” said Sugar. This may lead you to finally taking the leap on your own dreams.

  • Founder Spotlight: Lavinia Errico of Equinox Fitness Posted by Admin

     Lavinia Errico

When considering a gym to work on your summer body, the choices are plentiful. From women-only to spa-like gyms, the choices can come with some amazing amenities and the price may show it. Equinox has been a brand that stands for luxury and quality for over 25 years their doors have been open. Since then, the brand has expanded and acquired several other fitness companies. We got the scoop on how co-founder, Lavinia Errico, decided to change how we view working out.

“Like every entrepreneur, you start with something that you are yearning for,” Errico said. She recalls the after work life of many New Yorkers in the 80s. Everyone would run to happy hour at the end of their day, then to a lounge and a club all in one night. Errico wanted to bring that same night out feeling to the gym industry. Her and her two brothers decided to open their first gym which was called Westchester Health and Fitness. “We just started creating it,” she said. Once she made the decision to stop thinking about the idea and just make it, there was no turning back. “We never thought about not doing it. I felt as if it was something beyond us. This is your destiny. This is what you are suppose to do,” Errico continued.

Errico and her brothers ran the club while still working other jobs. Though they were building traction, money was still tight. So tight, they had to barter with other businesses just to stay afloat. They kept pushing and opened their first gym in 1991 in Manhattan. The decided to go with the name Equinox. Today, Equinox can be found in major cities from Los Angeles to Hong Kong. The fitness brand boasts some of the most popular fitness instructors. In addition to have worldwide locations, Equinox has several subsidiaries including SoulCycle, Pure Yoga, and Blink Fitness.

Things changed for Errico personally when the company sold to The Related Companies in 2006. Instead of being on cloud nine, she fell into depression. “My identity was all of Equinox,” she said about waking up and not working at the gym. “I had never been so alone, scared and uncertain of who I was,” she added. In true Errico fashion, she went on a wellness journey to get herself out of the funk. She realized that one can be incredibly fit yet still unhealthy. “In order to be fit you have to spiritually healthy, mentally healthy, emotionally healthy, and physically healthy,” she said. Errico had done the deep work. Now, she lives in her truth everyday and helps others create a more mindful, healthy life through wellness events.

For those looking to get out of their funk, she offered a few tips. “Define who you are and what your boundaries are and values,” she said. “Boundaries are important to recommit,” she continued regarding allowing yourself to be evolve into a better version of yourself whether it benefits others or not. Errico also said, ‘Be conscious of your thoughts, words, attitude, behavior, and feelings.”

If you plan to get the summer body and beautiful mindset, we guess you better head on over to Equinox.

  • Brandi Glanville Is Still Queen of Reality Posted by Admin

    Brandi Glanville

We first met Brandi Glanville on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The beautiful, fit reality star brought the excitement everywhere she went. Glanville has continued to light up our television screens with several reality shows later including Celebrity Big Brother and most recently Marriage Bootcamp: Reality Stars Family Edition. What is the secret to keeping to staying on everyone’s radar? MillionaireMatch has the scoop on her thoughts on being in the spotlight.

“There was drama but it was mostly to work on ourselves,” Glanville said about her experience working on the show Famously Single. Glanville was married to actor Eddie Cibrian for eight years before he moved on to date singer LeAnn Rimes. “He knew he was marrying somebody with a big mouth,” she said lightly. She signed on to the therapy styled show to get her back into the dating game. “I tend to recycle and sabotage things when I see a red flag,” she said. She admits that she isn’t quite ready to put herself out there fully. It took her a lot of time to put her heart back together in addition to going on the show, “To figure out why we are single and what we are doing wrong.”

Glanville then hopped onto Celebrity Big Brother and Marriage Bootcamp: Reality Stars Family Edition, which she is joined by her dad. “It’s an experience I never experienced before,” she said. Glanville has been working out her relationship with her dad in front of everyone which is hard and shocking at times. Being in the spotlight and airing your dirty laundry is not easy, but for Glanville it pays the bills. During her run on RHOBH, she admits that she beefed up her storyline to stay relevant. The other women didn’t need the paycheck as much as she did. So, a little family drama keeps her afloat. Glanville keeps the pot stirred. Recently, she made an inappropriate gesture towards a castmate’s husband and flashed everyone including her dad while wearing pasties.

Her thoughts on working in front of the camera for so long, “There’s highs and lows and you don’t know what is going to happen.” Glanville said most of the drama lows happened during her run with RHOBH, but being on Celebrity Big Brother had its perks. She enjoyed not having her cell phone on her all the time and dealing with the anxiety of constant emails and people contacting her. She’s also been able to see herself and the changes she wants to make, especially her quick temper. Glanville reflected, “I’m working on changing that.” We believe her.

If you can’t get enough of Glanville on the television screen, you can tune into her podcast, Brandi Glanville Unfiltered. You can hear her side of the story with Celebrity Big Brother recaps and she talks to other celebrities like Claudia Jordan. To keep up with the queen of reality, check her out on WeTV, Fridays at 9:00 pm or her lively Twitter feed @BrandiGlanville.

  • Josh Allan Murray: After The Bacherlorette Posted by Admin

    Josh Allan Murray

As The Bachelorette gears up for their 14th season with Becca Kufrin looking for the man of her dreams, we wanted to hear from some past participants of the hit show. Bachelors and bachelorettes from the past are either still looking for love or celebrating another year together, and maybe even with children in the mix. We had a chance to chat with Josh Allan Murray, who was the winner of the tenth season of The Bachelorette. After ending that engagement, he gave it another shot on Bachelor in Paradise. He left the show engaged, but a few months later that relationship ended. Two major breakups are hard, but Murray is bouncing back better than ever.

MillionaireMatch: What are you putting your energy into for 2018?

Josh: My focus is always on my family but on top of that, I am dedicated to expanding my F45 Training Gyms globally and helping as many people as possible better their health. I also am very involved in philanthropy, especially an organization called ESP (Extra Special People) in Athens, GA. I have hosted a couple of charity events this year with more to come. I have a passion for kids, especially those with disabilities and those less fortunate. I try to do all I can to help better their lives. A major goal of mine this year is to also be more active dating and finding that special someone I will spend the rest of my life with. I feel so fulfilled in life but I’m missing my partner in crime and I pray I find her this year.

MM: What has changed about you since your engagement to Andi?

Josh: I learned a ton from my experience with her. Most importantly for me, I’ve learned what I don’t want in someone I want to spend the rest of my life with. I have become more cautious with who I date and to make sure I get to know them well before pursuing a relationship more seriously.

MM: Tell us three things you look for now before getting serious with someone.

Josh: First, I want to make sure they are genuinely a nice and kind person, not just putting on a front for the outside world to see. I want a woman who loves family and wants to have a family of their own. I have been with someone in the past who is extremely disrespectful to their parents and I will never be with someone like that again. It’s a major turnoff for me. Also, in this world of social media addiction, I want someone who focuses on what's real and what’s in front of her, not worrying about getting on Instagram and Twitter every 10 seconds of the day. If someone is constantly on their phone, I’m out.

MM: What do you do for personal development and improvement?

Josh: I enjoy reading - ‘Jesus Calling’ and ‘The Purpose Driven Life’ are daily readings of mine that help a ton. I also enjoy reading about other things I’m interested in and/or working on with business and my other entrepreneurial ventures.

MM: Is there something that people would be surprised to know about you?

Josh: I’m a homebody and I don’t like pizza as much as they made it seem on television - remember people, tv is highly edited, don’t believe everything you see.

MM: What has been your biggest relationship mistake?

Josh: My biggest relationship mistake was getting engaged on television without getting to know that person off camera and seeing how they truly are in real life. I wanted to find love so bad that I made decisions I shouldn’t have and most definitely wouldn’t have in the real world. Rushing into an engagement just to please everyone else is a big mistake - live and learn though.

MM: Do you plan to be back on television?

Josh: I don’t plan on going back on television. Although, I never planned on going back after The Bachelorette or Famously Single or BIP or Champs vs. Stars. But at those times in my life when they reached out to me, I made decisions to go on those shows for multiple reasons - one was to learn more about myself and how to date again - the other was to take a shot at finding love one last time - and the other was to compete for a huge prize for my charity of choice.

MM: How do you stay inspired when it comes to finding true love?

Josh: I know in my heart there is a missing piece I want so badly - a wife, kids, a family! I try to stay faithful that God will introduce me to her when the time is right and I need to continue just doing good and being myself and she will come. It’s not easy to be patient though, I’m more than ready!

We look forward to what cupid may bring Murray in the future. Until then, we can both keep up with him on social media @joshallanmurray.
