The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently gave the green-light to four chicken processing plants in China, allowing chickens raised and slaughtered in the U.S. to be exported to China for processing, and then shipped back to the U.S. and sold on grocery shelves here. Is this the dumbest thing you ever heart of, or what ?
The purpose of the little know Act is to screw more factory workers out their pay ( or make them unemployed altogether). By the way you may be the one who ends  up sick. Here's how it will work, and more importantly why. It seems the farm workers in this Country make a whopping $11 per hour. If they ship the chickens grown here to China and have them processed there, where they can pay the workers $1 per hour, (with no medical benefits)and then ship them back here, the difference between $1 and $11 is more profit. But there is another problem, China's food and safety laws are almost non existent. Remember the toys they shipped us that your kids were putting in their mouths, when it turned out the paint on them was poison. Mad Cow, swine flu. You have a Congressperson, you know where Washington is, are you going to say SAY SOMETHING, OR NOT?.

Hi Jenkneee,

Always good to hear from you, here is your info.

Below  is a form letter for you and your friends, all you need to do is sign and send  it. Address it to: Mr. Andreas Keller, director of international equivalence staff, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington, DC .  Also send a copy to your Congress person, and your Representative.

As to the Community Garden you want.  I think your City already has one. Contact Temecula City Council, tell them that you want information about Your Cities Community Garden. As you may or may not know, the plots are about 8 x 8 feet. If you don't want to pay for one on your own, ask the council to put you in touch with a senior citizen, make a deal with them, you'll work the garden and split the food with them. If the Council can't do that, go to the garden and ask some of the other members.

P.S.  Please remove picture of yourself on the pool table from your profile. As it tends to make me want to play  with you on the pool table (strike that, smile). I meant to say, it makes me want to play a game of pool with you on the pool table. I don't know if the last sentence is any better than the first, see the problem (smile).

Good luck !!

Dear,
Mr  Andreas Keller,
director of international equivalence staff
U.S. Department of Agriculture,

Please notify me immediately as to what steps you're taking to fix the problem listed below.

Please notify me immediately also of the names of all members of the House of Representatives, who backed you on your green lighting of the bill mentioned below which you signed.

I am upset over the recent decision by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service to allow American raised chickens to be shipped to China for processing. U.S.’ consumers put their trust in the USDA for the maintenance of proper food safety regulations. Shipping poultry overseas to a country with a history of numerous safety problems, far away from USDA inspectors and oversight, is unacceptable.  At the very least, the USDA would need to guarantee regular audits of Chinese factories, while the FSIS would need to stay true to its commitment of stringent inspections.

Keep American chickens home. Not only am I concerned for health and safety, I would also be happier knowing that chickens raised for meat were not subjected to any additional and unnecessary stress. I am also worried that the USDA would not give consumers enough information for them to make an educated choice. While the birds may have been raised in the U.S., shipping them abroad for processing alters the product considerably. The USDA should require a tag separate from the country of origin label to signify where the meat was processed.

I am deeply concerned with the new rule that allows chickens to be sent for processing in China and hope you will reconsider your decision. To ensure American safety, please keep all meat processing of domestic livestock within the country.

Sincerely,

Hi Knowitall,

This latest fiasco is infuriating to me. Not only will that do this with a country that has poisoned toys but they literally poisoned our pets with bad dog/cat food and babies with tainted baby formula!!  Even without China's poisoning, the aspect of taking jobs away from U.S. citizens on purpose is wrong!

Do you know that this meat will not be labeled as being processed in China?!  We can't get our food labeled as GMO either. Over 60 other countries have banned GMOs, out supposed great country can't even label warn their citizens of the food they're consuming.  It is sickening to me, figuratively and literally!!

Where is the outrage?!  When we will collectively do something?  There was a vote for GMO labeling, it didn't pass!! Post some email addresses or ph. numbers of who to contact, please.  I belong to a local "Say No To Gmos" Facebook group, it is part of a larger group. We all have to start somewhere.

I just need a second location where I can be self-sustaining..actually I need a first location, lol. I forgot to write down the name of one nice lady who has acreage in California and was possibly willing to allow me on her land if I contributed.  Unfortunately I don't have the connections to those underground living areas when the shtf and we know it will.  It is only a question of when.

Here is one good thing for people to do for consuming healthy food- hydroponics or aquaponics.  I will try later to post a good video title for it.  Growing vegetables and farming fish in a small area of your backyard is what it's about. Only a dream of mine that I have.
