One of the most common things women seem to do is try and put us guys in the "friend" zone.  It starts innocent enough.  They share their feelings and you listen attentively.  They ask for advice and you offer it.  Next thing you know you're a friend where she dumps all her problems--especially about the guy who treated her like a slut.  But thank God she has you as a "friend."  You are in the "friend zone"--that frustrating place no better than hell where intimacy is not allowed!  How could they want to be intimate with their "friend."  Been there guys?  Done that women?  Stop it!  Very, very few of us men want to be your friend (unless they are gay).  After we are boyfriend and girlfriend we will be your best friend.

It's also the opposite. Lot's of guys say they are a friend, then get upset when women think of them as "just friends."

Mean while some one will ask us on a date, then say how important it is that their lover is also a friend. Then some one else is dating your friend. If you care for or love some one, tell them. Don't say you are a friend, then get upset when some one thinks of you as a friend.

Every one experiences rejection/unrequited love. Not only men. Everyone. Men are not the only one who desire a relationship with some one who has no interest in them.

I was recently put in the "friend zone" by a man.  It was brutal.  So it can happen the other way around.

If you've been put into the "Friend Zone" then chances are that person can't get beyond FRIEND with you. Accept it and move on to finding a person to date...

Just my 2cents.

Orlando,

Hoping is so right. I never try to put a guy I am remotely attracted to in a romantic way into the friend box. All males in my life that end up in the friend box end up there because that is where they belong!

I cannot transition someone from the romantic box into the friend box very easily, but it might be possible if the romance fails, but I could never transition someone from the friend box into the romantic box......it is so weird. Been there, done that and it was a right disaster, so NEVER again!

Liv.

Quoting Orlando__:

Quoting Hoping4Love2000:

ORLANDO--

When a woman puts you in the "FRIEND" box, it is B/C she was never interested in you in a "romantic" sense to begin with...

Should any of you men find a woman that does this, and you don't want "another friend," then it is UP TO YOU to disassemble it from the start! Otherwise, she will continue yacking w/ you like you are one of her girlfriends.. Esp. if she genuinely likes you as a man and wants a man's opinion.

BIT OF ADVICE? If a woman mentions her boyfriend issues to you right away.. 1 of 2 things:
She is either not ready for a relationship anyway...

OR, she is not interested in you...

Any smart woman who is ready for a relationship that is attracted to you will NOT be talking to you about another man!! She will be drawn to YOU and what YOU are about!

I used to get stuck in the friend box many times.  I've learned over the years to avoid it.  I generally tell them I can't solve your problem but I can take you away from them with a date.

I don't consider it a woman's "problem" if she tries to place a man in the "friend" box.

It simply means, SHE ISN'T INTO YOU in a romantic way...

A woman who IS into a man for romantic endeavors, is asking about the man.. Not speaking of her ex...

If a woman places a man in FRIEND box, he needs to determine if he can be friends with her, or if his physical attraction outweighs this. If it does, he should part ways. If he is okay w/ "friends, nothing more," then he may very well have a really great friend.

ALL IN HOW YOU VIEW THE GLASS! ;)

I like your approach. That line would change things for me and allow me to come clean as to wheter or not I feel you are a possible match.

I also agree with Hope. If a woman wants to talk about a past relationship while on a first date with you, she is not ready for you.

I do believe that our past experiences and relationships mold us into who we are today and it is important to learn about your future mate's past, in order to understand him/her. But, the chemistry must be there from the beginning. I would prefer to be asked for another date at the end of the first one. If we liked one another well enough... who knows?

What is wrong with being a friend. How can two people form any relationship if they do not start out as friends first anyway. We are not all compatible with everyone we meet in life, so it is understandable why you all are just friends instead of a romantic relationship. You will and she will know when the right person comes along. do not force it, it will happen for you.
