Is there any hope for divorced people?

The divroce rate for second marriages is 60%, and 73% for third marriages. If your parents were divorced, you're at least 40 percent more likely to get divorced than if they weren't. If your parents married others after divorcing, you're 91 percent more likely to get divorced.

If you don't know how to appreciate, support and respect your spouse in your first marriage, you probably won't know how to do it in your second and third marriage either....

Many people who are divorced go on to meet and marry wonderful poeple and have amazing marriages the second (or even third) time around. Marriage requires continued effort, passion, loyalty and mutual satisfaction on numerous levels...but most of all it requires commitment. If the two people are not committed to making the marriage work and if they are not committed wholly to each other, it will not likey survive. My parents had the most awe-inspiring marriage and I know that great love is possible. Be hopeful and optimistic...I have a happy and full life that I know would be even better with a great man next to me. In the meantime, I strive to become the best version of myself that I can be, and to be the kind of person I would want to marry.

UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS!
POOR OR NO COMMUNICATION
MARRIED FOR LOOKS RATHER THAN PERSONALITY
MARRIED FOR THE WRONG REASONS
NOTHING IN COMMON
UNABLE TO COMPROMISE
DIDN'T PUT EACH OTEHR FIRST
NEEDED TO HAVE OWN INTEREST OUTSIDE OF PARTNER'S INTEREST
MENTALLY NOT PRESENT FOR THE OTHER PARTNER
NOT SUPPORTIVE

Probably because the bad relationship skills that lead to the 1st divorce are still present in the 2nd marriage.
In his book A Lasting Promise, professor Scott Stanley, the leading researcher on marriage, list 4 behaviors that are prevelant in broken marriages.
