I've read several comments by online experts that the two genders prefer different types of pictures. So the question to the females is do you agree and if so why?

The experts say that most females are turned off by male profiles that contain a picture of the male without a shirt. In fact females focus on headshots of males. They also prefer at least one photo in a suit or tux.

By contrast males are reluctant to invest much time with a female UNLESS her profile has several full body length photos and at least one in a swimsuit or workout gear.

Interestingly both genders irritate the other gender by doing what comes naturally. Females prefer profiles with mostly headshots so thats what they do for their OWN profile. Males prefer revealing full length photos of females so they create their own profile with lots of shirtless photos etc.

Perhaps it would be valuable for the site to make that gender based suggestion in the directions?

I was reminded how stark this contrast is when I met a woman recently off the site. Her profile was almost all face shots and one full length from an angle. So I asked why. She went into a sermon about how many guys she wont email back BECAUSE they have a shirtless photo or two! Obviously she has strong feelings on the topic.

We had a nice conversation about it though. She had no idea that I almost decided not to meet her because of her lack of photos. I can't possibly meet with everyone so I have to be judicious about my time.

I wonder how prevalent this feeling is among women and men though?

Lawyer Linda...I think the site suggests people take pics of things that interest them so the other person can get an idea of what the person enjoys or feels comfortable doing.  I have a request for women.  Please take down pics which are more than a year old.  Guys can tell which are the newer ones.  We really don't care what you looked like.  We like to see what you look like.

I honestly dont focus on how the picture is taken or what is someone doing in it, I try to analyze the person.

Tho,it is nice to see a photo with a"story"(sense, from good angle and all)than someone under bathroom light.

But oh well (:

And shirtless guys..well whatever ((:

This is a precarious subject, we all realize men & women 'process' things differently. Here is my input. I don't mind seeing a man without a shirt if it's in an approptiate setting & not 1 of 10 groomsmen in a wedding photo. Lol. I actually prefer to see one. All in all, I think most romen are more forgiving about a man's imperfect physique, and get by with a few extra pounds easier than a woman can through a man's rye. It is natural for a man to have his shirt off in many places so it's not as if its nudity. What I like to look for is if he cares about his appearance enough to be groomed. Let's face it, we are in the age where even men being groomed is fine & looked at with acceptance. What I don't care to see on a man is long, unkempt chest hair that winds like a vine & continues on his back. I know everyone has their own preference, but nowadays there are many great procedures to at least make it look like its under control & off your back. Lol. I guess I keep myself 'groomed' and just think it looks nice on men also. I also like to see face shots as I think you can tell certain things about a person when you see their eyes & if their smile or facial features show a genuine person is in the profile they write about themselves.
Other side of storY, which is my opinion of myself. I believe I have a swimsuit pic here, but it's not a close up, just enough that u can see that I am thin with some curves. The real me as I look on a beach. The rest are not pics of me with barely no clothes on as, I am on here and being viewed by who knows (maybe a friend of daddy's) or strange men I know nothing about.
If I am wearing a teddy, garter belt, etc., those are moments that I would only share with someone I care about & am intimate with. Now ladies, don't be upset as I am only speaking for what is in my comfort zone & am not here to judge, but only to explain what I like & why my profile shows what it does.
Best wishes to all finding their own happiness!

I'm jumping in here late, but I just joined ... I wonder what the "experts" have to say about men who posts pics of themselves: playing a guitar ... Standing in the bathroom to take their own pic in the mirror ... a photo of their Harley and nothing else ... pic where it's obvious the woman he has his arm around has been cropped .... I personally don't mind a shirtless pic IF it's in the appropriate context, such as an action shot while someone is boating, swimming, etc. Otherwise, a recent pic with an attractive smile and enough body-shot to determine whether there is a weight problem is sufficient for most women.

Its a turn off to me as well. Guys who have pictures of them in the mirror with their shirts off come off arrogant and cocky to me.

I,too,am new and I am listed on the other match (without millionaire). I have learned that woman seem to be more moved (at least at first) by what they hear and men seem to be more moved by what they see. I, being a man, am interested in seeing as many pictures as possible including head shots and full length shots. I don't want to see pictures of your ex, your children, your pets, your mother, or your summer vacation. Then I will read your profile. Works for me.

Quoting Raelene2000:

Thank you I am a newbie and I don't have photos of my self as I am the one taking the photos of friends and family. I don't mind the shirtless photos but I won't be as I believe that some men would want to date for me for my body not who I am, i think that is what most woman think they want a man to love them for who they are and not what they look like which is quite contradictory as most woman wont bother to see the great man behind the acne scares or work weathered skin that is why the eyes do it for me you can tell a lot about a person by their smile.

The same reason a gal is unlikely to chatter to a man without a shirt on the street.

The veneer of civilization is very very thin and we gals like to feel safe rather than to risk madmen and getting hurt.

It is a matter of decorum. I'm not so shy that I can't ask to see but I am somewhere between turned off and repulsed by something shoved in my face without first asking permission.

Go figure.

I am a woman and I agree with the experts! I am immediately turned off by and will not wink or respond to a man who has shirtless photos (even the really buff ones.) Why? I really can't put my finger on it but it is, nonetheless, a turn off!
