Once again, maybe this has been beat to death, but here goes. I notice a fair amount of discussion about "rich", "millionaire" and younger women and older wealthy guys. not as much for the ladies, but there is an undercurrent of the "pool boy" syndrome going on these days.

I thought it might be interesting to hear from interested parties what they think makes someone "rich" or "wealthy".

What does "millionaire" mean to you?--It used to bring out a vision of the Great Gatsby or a glamour ridden lifestyle.

How much money, or wealth, do you think it takes to live "well" with the trips to all the best places, drinking some good wine and the discretion to buy whatever you want when you want it? I'm not including having a G-5 or something, but being able to ride in the front of the jet bus when you want so the goats and chickens aren't feasting on your 1oz bag of peanuts as you sip the tasty bloody mary mix!!

I've found over the years that expectations of what it takes to be "wealthy" changes as you move up or down the economic ladder. In the end, it might just go to "how much is enough?"--JP Morgan--One more Dollar than I had before!!

You've got it right about my camping style, Blue. My idea of roughing it is not remembering where I put the room service menu! LOL

And where do I put my guy when he visits my little studio? Well, when HE comes over ... we won't be sitting!

LOL

well I always comfort myself thinking about Col. Sanders who went down twice before he rode the big chicken into the sky! you may have a point but poverty does not breed character. money is not the root of all evil, it is the "lack of money" to quote old Rev. Ike!! you may be right though and we wouldn't be doing what we are now doing without that experience. what are you franchising? So your guy won't be sitting? and here I figured you were a sit in the lap and let's figure out where we go from here kind of girl!!

Kaitie, as an artist, the layer of golden eggs, would it be fair to say that the only camping you'll consider is a holiday inn?>? sure beats rolling over on tree roots in the mud!!

Katie girl, it would be good if I could spell the word too!! your attitude is right on point, I've done very well and lost it all at least twice so I know what you're talking about. Ive come to understand that there is always more money, so it is only a piece of the puzzle. Still, "more is better", so we keep going back for more. nice note, where do you put your guy when he visits? does he have to sit on the books and stretch frames?

Blue, I think of the word "millionaire" as just a buzz word, a frame of reference to differentiate the ordinary guy on the street from people who have more money than brain cells. LOL

I guess if a person works 9 to 5 & makes $100K or more a year, depending on their age, they could conceiveably be a millionaire. Then there are those who actually have millions!

How much does it take to live well? Well, I've been worth a couple of mill "in theory," years ago, but today, because I'm stubborn & won't let ANYONE take my years of blood, sweat & tears & start profitting from it & ordering me around, I've been able shut down, walk away & start all over again.

Today, you wouldn't believe what I live on per year. No, really, you'd fall out of your chair if I told you. I live uber-modestly. LOL

I'm an artist & a writer. I blow my money on my work first; paint, canvas, brushes, printer cartridges, big sheets of plywood, silver & gold wire, semi-precious stones for my jewellery-making, plus I'm a sucker for tools, I can't resist buying any new tool or art material I see, even if I have a ton of stuff at home. LOL
(Art supplies to me are like shoes to most women, although I DO LOVE shoes!)

I live in one of the wealthier districts of Toronto, The Beach, right on the lakeshore but my apartment is tiny & stuffed full of stacks of paintings, computer hardware, jewellery, my soldering stuff, Dremmell bits & my Tetley tea.

I miss travelling. I've wanted to see the world my whole life & have never ventured further than Lauderdale every spring. I let my work tie me down. But if I had a man who wanted to take me places, my work could wait! My ex was only into fishing & camping. (yawn)

I'm a goose who lays golden eggs. I'll make my fortune again, MY way next time, but til then, I ride the subway & don't care about cars or merlot or Gucci or Prada. I just need a bed, a TV with cable, my music and a lot of space to paint. Eccentric, yes, but sexay! LOL
