Or....Gee...is this asking too much....A moderator that checks out the complaints. Oh ...I'm really overstepping my bounds now....Sorry ...I won't ask that again. Get a clue MM.
You'll never see my $19.95 a month rewarding incompetentce again, either.

Pete, how does your plan keep fakes from trying to scam us?

PS - the first time I saw Deliverance, I was taken to it as a first date by a boy when I was really young. I was so disgusted and freaked out by it, I never dated him again. LOL (I think it was the "Squeal like a pig" scene that shocked me so much). Another boy took me on a first date to see "A Clockwork Orange." Same result. LOL

I think the best solution is to require an alternate non-preferred membership at a minimal charge of, say $1.00/month which would allow you to simply post comments. This membership would have to be paid with a valid credit card. Surely there's no one here who can't afford $12 a year...

The only reason these misfits continue to prosper here at MM is because they can be completely anonymous with no way of ever determining who they are. A perfect example is the recent removal of HellMatch/Laura fake profiles from the blogs yesterday. 24hrs later the blogs are once again flooded with this loser's NEW fake profile rabbikatzpuzzler....
    -----
That is a great idea! Did you write to MM and suggest that?

Life ... not so fast! I'm not a member! And I am allergic to credit cards. I cash all my cheques and royalties and hide the money under a rock in my yard.

Since I have been on this site, there have been innumerable fake profiles. What I don't understand is why they all have to be cruel. This seems to be the standard among them. They love to start trouble. You would think that MM would come up with a way to detect them and nip the problem in the bud!! The other problem is we all complain about the hostility these trolls seem to thrive on, but it takes forever for MM to "investigate" and remove to offending trolls from the site...

Tomi....it will never fuc*king happen. MM is too clueless.

In the time I've been here, every single troll has been a non paying member. To become a paid (preferred) member requires one to identify oneself (valid credit card). The unidentified troll has easy, anonymous access and is free to disrupt and pollute the forums and blogs. Once MM finally gets around to closing the fake troll profile (usually after a couple of weeks of disruptive behavior), the troll simply opens another free fake profile the next day and is back in business.

When I first joined there was alot of debate about restricting the ability to post comments in the forums to paying members so as to reduce the troll problem. Unfortunately, there are alot of sincere non-paying members who contribute greatly to the forums (and now blogs) but who, for a variety of reasons can't or don't want to fork out the $20/month (understandable).

I think the best solution is to require an alternate non-preferred membership at a minimal charge of, say $1.00/month which would allow you to simply post comments. This membership would have to be paid with a valid credit card. Surely there's no one here who can't afford $12 a year...

She kind of cringes when you refer to her as "Grapes." When you think about it, she looks very unlike a grape, however, her beautiful face seems full of hope. So, if you nicknamed her "Hope," for short, it would not only suit her, but it would make her feel more like a woman and less like a small, oval fruit.

    Just a suggestion.

Ahhh my Brilliant Katie. You know as well as I do her nickname was derived For more than three centuries, South Africa has been producing wines in its fruitful Cape...The Cape of Good Hope Wine Company imports quality, boutique wines from South Africa's Cape Winelands, a mountainous area with soils and terrain ideal for winemaking. When consumers see the Cape of Good Hope Wine Company's trademarked seal of quality, they can be assured they are purchasing high-quality wines.

That is why Dave4u and I (Weelassy) suggested her nickname many moons ago...She is just as brilliant and sweet as the best wine one can devour. I find it hard to believe she would finds it an insult when one say Grapes....She is the best grape on any vineland.

The Cape of Good Hope Wine Company imports quality...And That she is.

Real profiles, I suggest sticking to other real profiles but as you are real and subject to projection and delusion, you can check out a fake profile now and again. I strongly caution you about getting emotionally involved with a fake profile. Of course, I offer tissue and a shoulder should that happen to you.

A troll is someone looking for attention, right? Using the same logic in reverse, a troll detective is the exact same thing. Those of you who continually accuse others of being trolls thrive on the attention you are getting and enjoy stroking your own ego by doing it. You don't care who you're accusing as long as you have something to post about. As long as you continue to accuse people of being trolls, you, in turn, are FEEDING the actual real trolls! It's a complete and utter embarrassment to you and it's so sad that you really don't "get it."

Keep doing it...I frankly don't care. But what you've done is driven away great people from these threads and scared new people into not wanting to post. The trolls didn't do that, YOU did. Then, if you accuse someone who's really not a troll then you apologize to that person, gee, I'm sure that really makes them feel warm and fuzzy, and willing to participate! It's YOUR fault these threads are what they are, not the trolls. Trolls come and go, we all know that. They end up getting themselves into trouble, ultimately being deleted from the system. Guess who remains? YOU! The real trouble makers!! JUST IGNORE THEM!!!

There will always be fake profiles/trolls, who gives a s*h*i*t really? Are you going to accuse me of being a fake/troll now too because I'm not a "preferred member," have my profile hidden and no picture uploaded? Go right ahead! It seems that's the standard criteria you've all decided on as determining factors which makes someone a troll, and I've been a participant here for a year and a half.

Get off your high horses for a change...all of you.

Dont have the pleasure of knowing you but i wholeheartedly agree.Well said.
However do you know what though,i am watching a pattern develop here and anyone who is educated enough can also see it.Its not really about trolls and fakes because if it were when it was established i was not a troll the spiteful accusations would of ended. Why is it i have only been accused of being a troll by women not men? Maybe there is truth in the old saying about green eyed monsters.

Dear Bootie, your identity has been cleared, but to answer your question about why it is (mostly) the women: it is because they form about 90% of the forum!
And if you take a look at the BlondeIndian's level of contribution, which I quote (from this thread, let alone her 100's of other charming posts) before she quickly removes it again, you will understand a bit better about new and old trolls or just simply strange members and why it is such a sensitive theme.

C'mon J, tell us how you REALLY feel! LOL

I've been chatting online for over 10 years, almost when public Internet first started. Back then, jerkheads who disrespected another poster and began behaving like an idiot, unprovoked, and calling people names and starting altercations were called "flamers." They didn't do it often because if they started trouble, everybody would snap to it and bombarded the "jackhorse" with rebuttals and reported him or her to the host and was banished immediately. Back then we had zero-tolerance for shite-disturbers and if one incident of name-calling or insults occurred ... the hammer came down on them quick and hard.

Everyone despised trolls and there was no pride in being one. It was the act of a moron, knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing, slack-jawed dinkbrain.

    Still is.

Your points are valid but not really feasible is it?

    1..There are some non-fake people/members that doesn't have a web-cam......so that's out.
2.. To speak on the phone, one must have reached a degree of familiarity with the other person...unless you have the time to get to know them, that's out.
3..... Now this is the tricky part, you can ask for that and they will probably tell you....but you have to be willing to let them know yours as well, as they say; "What is good for the Gander is also good for the Geese"
There must be an easier way to know, but until then....you just have to take everyone as they say, unless they are hurting people( which is definitely not acceptable)....they are to be left to their devices.....who is who here anyways, unless of course you get to meet face to face.....and even if you do.....how can you be sure?.......
just treat everyone as you would like to be treated....with respect, honesty and the benefit of the doubt..
    just my opinion..

The forums have always had a problem with fake profiles. Regardless the reason people use them, we may as well face the fact they are out there.

The question is how do we forum members know who to trust as a real person? Usually if someone is a Preferred member is one way. But may not be infallible, it is only $20 bucks. Then there are non-paying members that most of the time fall prey to being suspected as fakes.

    I have 3 recommended solutions:
    1) Ask the suspected person to view their webcam. (not all will have one)
    2) Ask to speak on the phone
    3) Ask for their TCP/IP address and web service provider. It is so easy to trace from there.

Look we really do welcome all new people. We simply want a safe forum that is (relatively free of strife). Please understand we have seen fake profiles cause so much trouble.

If you want to prove who you are contact one of the Preferred members (of the same gender if you are uncomfortable) and offer to contact them with one of the options above.

Anyone else have additional ideas to share?

I met a guy right when I got to calli, he said he owned a house in Bev/Hills, a winery, all kinds of stuff, my friend googled him and he was a fake and i called the guy on it, what a pipedreamer,lol...

The meeting I called for is in Holland, Michigan. I'm quite sure I will be attending by myself as far as MM is concerned. I will however, have 12 young baseball players with me so I will in no way be lacking for activity. The games are to be played during the day, leaving evenings free in the event someone should show up.

Although a small city, Holland is very pretty and the majority of it's citizens are decendents of the settlers from Holland. I would never compare the two because the original is much too beautiful to be compared with it's namesake. Another glaring thing missing is the red light district. I guess that's an American thing, you know how stodgy we can be about morals.

Anyway, you are definitely invited. It may just be the two of us, but you said it only takes one. Devo is busy that weekend. I'll leave the light on for you, but won't look for you till I see you coming.
