This question is for the people who are self made millionaires or wealthy, how did you get started, and what did you do to become rich? I want to start my own business on eBay or something like that, but I am having a hard time trying to do so. I have a part time job as of now where I work only 2-3 days a week, 6 hours a day, and I'm not getting anywhere. Please help! I have been trying to sell a few things on eBay, but its not enough. I want more. Thanks in advance.

City girl, you can never get wealthy 10/hour. there are only so many hours no matter what.

When you sell your time, it is finite, when you sell what you can create in weath for others, then you bargain out your share.

Early in the game you get less because you have to pay the cost of entry.

Later you get to keep more. Figure out what you do well, take a chance when you're young.

If you can sell, go for a plan that has profit sharing commissions; that way, you do better with the company at the same time.

Also, start a small business in your home, no matter what it is--writing childrens poems for sale on the internet; walk peoples dogs; anything that pays--take that extra money and save it and get into the stock market or bonds--when interest rates are high.

When you can make enough every day that you can make more with your time than working for the 10/hr, then do more of that. you can never get rich working by the hour, I've lived it and it works. good luck on your future success!!

not complicated

step 1--Got it from my family
step 2--work smart & smarter each time you do a new biz
step 3--never marry a golddigger in your whole life, he'll take 50%, unless you have him sign a prenupt

1--win the lucky contest?? out of control over that
2. yep, smarter and harder is a tandem
3. if you start with a pile, expect to pay for everything including the golddigger. you knew that when you took him in. There is always more money, don't sweat the small stuff. just live in the right state

I have only had negative experiences selling on there. I tried selling wholesale items, but someone else always managed to find a wholesaler selling cheaper than mine.

Aside from all the great advice that everyone posted. You must do another thing.

You must be observant. Look at and study people. Understand that people have needs. NEEDS=MONEY Focus on a business that helps people meet those needs. Take care of the the details and be ready to work really hard. Don't be afraid to mess up. 37% of all millionaires filed for bankruptcy at some time in their life before becoming wealthy. Don't give up. Hang around with affluent people. Rich people are everywhere, most rich people don't flash their money. Hang out at the country club....get someone to take you or volunteer or something but get in there. Network with these people they have knowledge that you do not possess

I just want to touch on a point here... you ask how 'self made' millionaires did it? Because we already know how the other ones did it! By deceit.

Ron I totally agree. I have been in corporate sales for 20 years and will only sell things I believe in. But selling has to be in your blood and you have to love people. Im not wealty but happy.

Desire. I used to go to Garage Sales, and auctions and reselling on eBay. Doing it just a few hours a night I was able to clear 1000 a month. You can also go to the USPS web site and get free priority boxes as many as you want for free. They will ship them to you. It doesn't take alot of time just state you send packages out on a certain day a week and only accept Pay pal that way there is no waiting for checks. If I can answer any other questions just ask. Nancy

Ask yourself if you are an exceptional sales person. If you are not then you shouldn't venture into business unless you are passionate about your product or service.

For Anything that you may desire, you need to be passionate about it, dedicated to it, positive no matter what, and you need to set your priorities accordingly.

Thanks for humoring me Sunshine. We all like to feel people are listening to us, even if we aren't saying anything particularly original. It's amazing how much I sounded like an old man in that last post. I think just last week I was playing guitar in bars, hitch-hiking across country and sitting around campfires with long hairs talking about the secrets of the universe. Oops, that was 30 years ago.

That WAS just last week for me.... lol!

I became wealthy by not doing what was expected of me, you don't need a PHD, you need chutzpa and persistence. excercise your body and your mind and stay strong. read as much as possible, follow the moons and get out and meet as many people as possible. Go to wall street, get your series 7 and learn how money is made- the old fashioned way. get involved in real estate. and when people tell you you're crazy or want to know what are you trying to prove, then you know you're doing something right.
and thank God everyday for whatever you have.

If I may use this analogy: you can do what most people do and earn $10 per hr, or work hard and earn $15 per hr, or work hard and smart and earn $100 per hr.

There are various principles of leverage that one can use to create wealth. But this principle alone will only work so far. You need to combine it with other techniques. Obtaining and maintaining a broad educational knowledge base is crucial to creating wealth.

Personally, I keep myself abreast of current events, various sciences, technology, business events and principle developments, cultural knowledge, sociological pattern developments and so forth....I think you get the idea. Everything you educate yourself on and read will become useful whether for its knowledge value or the new possible insights directly or indirectly it may bring.

Developing an abstract mindset also helps with business and wealth development. For me personally, I own a dozen different businesses ranging from construction to software development; all this from that quiet geeky kid that no popular girl in high school or college would go out with. I was late bloomer in all respects. I am now glad that I was so. It has helped me immensely.

At a recent high school reunion, I was surprised that I was the third most successful guy from my graduating year. Kinda funny hearing other classmates talk of their $10K credit card limits when I have several cards at $150K.

By studying hard and then working extra hard, scrimping and saving....and believing that the sky is not just the limit...but the beginning to wonders untold.
