Sorry to edit your post, Devo, but I wanted to focus on this point.

Count me in. Sometimes I choose to ignore drama, other times, as with the little frog, I was relentless in having his posts removed (as I believe a couple others were) and he's gone. Most of us have probably read the most recent cruel remark from one particular angry person. He's now on my hit list. A couple other instigators are on the radar.

I can tolerate a little drama. What I cannot not tolerate is hateful behavior and trailer trash remarks.

I don't know why I always forget this course of action. I see somebody being rude and obnoxious and my first response is to leave it for a while so my indignation is reduced, and then ... literary retaliation.

But, it won't stop if we don't tell MM about it! I'm with you now, on this new campaign, Red. This current "scourge of the forums" has started so many idiotic topics, some just for the sake of ticking people off, that he has shoved all the good, enticing topics into the twilight zone.

Jumping into the fire is a normal first response for many of us, katie. I know for me, it has taken a lot of restraint to resist but have managed fairly well (at least from my perspective!). It is the far over the edge remarks that I cannot and will not ignore.

When the one we're referring to gets "0" responses to his new threads, then it will be his topics that go into the twilight zone. Hopefully, you find as I have, that removing unusually cruel remarks brings true satisfaction.

Don you are such a trouble maker. I have a feeling that you would rather be elected to be in charge of compiling breast shots of all female forum members and then run a contest to see who can guess what breasts belong to which faces you all know and love. I think Sharp had mentioned something about that. Sharp, how did that go again? No Don, it doesnt mean to connect all the breasts to your face. LOL.

Devo,Sharp and Grapes... if we could just maintain the sort of light, informative, sometimes goofy banter we have as a group, and with any other men and women who know how to express their thoughts while respecting others', this forum could crawl back up to a level where we'd all enjoy it again.

Katie I agree. I think the forums have started to head in the correct direction. One thing we can do to improve forum etiquette is all agree privately or publicly to ignore people that repeatedly post troublesome threads. Sort of like the action taken against the last not so nice young man that has departed the forum.

Would it not be nice to let different people be the thread moderator for a week or month. Maybe have elections or something to that affect.

Oooo I want to be elected first I could delete all of Sharp's threads. lol.

That attaching breastsessessess to faces sounds like a good idea. You go first.

Awwww Aimee that was so sweet... So you think that some have outgrown it, and dont perceive it in the same light as before? Its nice to see it through fresh eyes.

Well, maybe not so much outgrown it but when you become a regular on a forum, with other regulars, you get used to the way it is at that time. Then some of the people you have had so much fun with, leave. Most of the people always leave at one point. Then you'll miss those people and it will take some effort to get connected to the newer people who don't know the inside-jokes or about the former posts. Most often the newer people will start topics who were already there earlier on too. That's when it becomes less fun.
Just the rythm of a forum I guess.

Ive been around here for about 6 months now and I guess Im still considered a newbie also.

I have been a regular on a forum and started missing the good ol'times when things got less funny.
Now I just try to stay a newbe ;-)

As a newbe here, I can only say that I don't think these forums are much different than other forums I've been reading or am still active on.
There hasn't been a forum yet where I haven't seen somebody write about the good-old-days.
Not to be mean or anything, but it is simply true.
When you first start participating in a forum, everything is new and interesting. When you stay for a longer time, and you become a regular poster, you get to know the others and have fun. Then there's always something (mostly someone) disrupting the pleasant atmosphere, regular people leave, and a bunch is left wondering why the fun you had in the beginning, is gone.
By that time, a new group has arrived, who are having their "good-old-times" right at the moment you think it's all less interesting. After some months (even years maybe) the 'new' group starts posting how much fun it used to be.
There's a certain rhythm in these virtual communities. You join, you have fun, you move on.
I like this forum.
I like reading grapesofgoodhopes' wise replies, cutiebooties witty remarks, beautiful poetry and even angyson's fights for equality.
Guess I'm working on my 'good old times' now...

I just want to say to anybody who is reluctant to post for fear of being flamed ... please, don't feel shut out. The regular posters here, like myself and many others are all good-hearted, fun-loving nutbars who only go into "argument mode" when:

- somebody says something obviously rude, vulgar, disgusting or otherwise provocative, just to get attention, (we will NOT disapoint them ... if negativity is what they want MORE of),

- somebody is so desperate for validation from strangers that they create unlimited insipid, moronic topics for threads, hoping people will post on them, (which is the limit of "needy" in my opinion)

We like to post "intelligent" opinions on each others' observations. We like to read ideas we haven't thought of before. The majority of us don't have a problem with a controversial comment, if it's not meant as a slap in our faces.

This forum is not blather-friendly! Share your thoughts and give us something to chat about. Don't be shy!
We welcome EVERYBODY who has something to say. The more the merrier.

Greetings to all and especially to those who sent messages of concern for my Grandmother.

Thanks Sharp for creating a thread worth posting on. Like Hondo, I too have neglected to respond to messages in a timely manner. Often times as a result of reading the forums, getting disgusted then immediately logging off. Other times it was due to having limited time. To anyone that I may have slighted by a delayed response, too brief of a response, or no followup responses, I beg your forgiveness, and promise to do better.

Best Wishes to all the new couples and don't forget to invite me to the weddings. lol

Sharp, when I first started reading the forums I did not initially post for several months. You are correct that a lot of people read these forums that do not post. If you want an idea of how many look at the number of reads on some of the blogs.

My opinion of why the forums do not attract more posters:
A) Negative postings & attacks.
B) To many threads introduced kill / bury the good threads.
C) You are forgotten if you don't post regularly.
D) Some of the people are not made to feel welcome. A simple "Hi, welcome" to newbies can make a difference.
E) SPRING is here and some of us have a life! lol. - We get busy and don't have as much time.

There is one more thing I agree with. When I author or post in a thread regularly the number of winks I receive goes up. So ladies really are reading these threads.

More to the point...the forums need a better mix, and a higher percentage of men taking part.

As in real life, we tend to say a lot fewer words and it gets lost among the deluge.

Also, most of us have the good sense of not "getting between the dog and the fire hydrant" or in this case in the middle of a chick-fight.

The atmosphere on the forums does seem to be a little more antagonistic than in the past but then some of the thread topics and author comments are sure to incite trouble.

As long as I've been around here, the men posting have always been in the minority. I've always found the comments someone will post on the forum offer a far better insight into who they are than the standard issue CV profile.

In fact, I was fortunate to meet a very special woman through these forums, something that would not have happened had we not participated in the various discussions and discovered an undeniable compatability. So, obviously, the forums can be a great experience. :)

PS: No, it's not Sharp...lol......don't want any rumours to start. Glad to hear you're doing well Sharp. :) Sounds like you guys in Calgary need a good chinook to jumpstart your gardening season.

Thanks for your concern Dorma. I am here, read some of the threads and ignore others. Quite frankly it is not fun to be here any more. I haven't even talked to my very good friend in a few weeks. A few others have sent me emails and for the most part I've written them back. I mean to answer them all, but sometimes when I log on and read the forums first I just get disgusted and leave without answering. To those I owe an email I sincerely apologize.

Hi seattle welcome and thanks for the tips on Ebaying I meant to thank you..Because I found it informative Thanks..I am trying to launch a makeup line with a world renouned international make-up artist www.sevelin.com
Sharp is always above board and dignified..Seattle
You are truly classy...See The forums were fun for like two months when a certain female was gone she has pretty much insulted every woman on here and so I am guilty of making catty remarks to her after months of watching her be beyond cruel and instigate matters she makes up fake trolls that compliment her and defend her trust me when she was gone it was fun on here..
But if you re-read old posts all point to her Many men here have told me that she is one weirdo and to avoid her even they know,They know some of the other posters appear when she reappears like sween and I am questioning another one as well.
This is strange she does this..
So my apologies I to would like it to be fun again and thanks for the info..

Sharp,

I read the forums for a long time before I jumped in as well. How about your strong group picking up where you left off?

As we are being honest, I am embarrassed by how some have acted on the forums. And the spelling is like a punch in the eye for me. Why is it that women are abusive to other women and feel that it is perfectly OK to do so in a public forum? I find it inappropriate and I know others do as well.

This should be a fun place to get to know others and develop friendships, but it is a place where one wonders "do I need body armor?"

The blogs have also watered down readership on the forum side. The intent of a blog is that it serves as an online journal, however it seems that questions that are better suited for forum are posted there. (I think the counter has its appeal). There are a handful that post in forums and blogs (generalizing here) but it seems like some reside in blogs and some in forums and never the twain shall meet.

Devoted, you have welcomed people to the forum and that is a generous act. It is clear who is friends with whom in forums and that along with the insults makes the water pretty icy. Honestly, it is not very inviting.

Once one starts, it is addictive and fun, so it's up to each of us to keep interesting topics going and personal grievances private.
