i don't get i half your mariages today end up in divorce because of a spouse messing around so to speak and how ever all it does is makeing divorce lawyers rich, so what i say is just date. be friends save the hassle, because divorce you have to split every thing up you bought while you were married i think.

For those of you on this site looking to marry: I'd think twice about that if I were you.

Did you know that the more educated and affluent a woman becomes, the more likely she is to remain single?

Do you know that the higher a woman's IQ, the more likely she is to be single?

One could argue that men prefer less intelligent women. I, on the other hand, am more inclined to think perhaps these smartypants ladies are on to something!

I found this on a blog on the internet, so it must be true! :o)

Women, IQ and Marriage
In one study, four British universities measured the IQ of 900 11-year-olds and revisited them 40 years later to see how their lives had moved on.

They found that the brighter girls were less likely to find a man who wants to marry them, with their chances diminishing dramatically in direct proportion to their level of intelligence.

For each 16-point rise in their IQ, their marriage prospects fell by 40 per cent.

In contrast, boys' chances increased by 35 per cent with each 16-point rise. (Qtd. here).

One theory is that men want to marry women who are not as smart as they are. I thus explained to my wife (who has a PhD in microbiology) how lucky she was to find a really smart man. Her response was unprintable in a family blog. Let's just say that she had an alternative theory of why smart women don't get married, something about a fish and a bicycle.

*******************

Actually, I found it on ABC News too! But I couldn't resist the fish and bicycle line. LOL Since I am just a man, can one of you brainy ladies explain me on that one???

Ha!
I agree with you there!
When I hear about women who have been planning their weddingday all their lives, exactly knowing what kind of dress they want, dreaming of that 'one big day' ever since they were little girls... I so can not relate to that.
Have never had any fantasies about marriage and will prolly never get them.

I think it's sad DIVORCE..I felt better about myself when I wasn't married .
I felt a sense of control over life being single..
I mean Men will say "YOUR my WIFE as in Ownership...
But Your my wife, "You need to discuss this with me etc etc..
Ugh But I love being in a committed relationship and if I married again it would be for "SEX' and lots of it ..Oh I am only teasing wink.
I am a free spirit and like my independence though I have gave it up for men jobs moved and it didn't pan out for me Never again.
I feel divorce is awful and leaves scars that sometimes never heal..only make us wiser hopefully but the heart always hurt when love leaves and Goodlife is a very intelligent female..I would hate to play chess against her or scrabble which I am pretty good at.I think she doesn't want to every marry and go for the golden ring again it's lost the luster and has tarnished for her..
I think she says no to marriage and would say Yes to the right man after he swam in shark infested waters, river rafted the most dangerous waters, wrestled a grizzly, climbed MT Everest , does and ironman at least five times, Sky dives off the Empire state Bldg..just to consider marriage Lol

This guy would get a great woman and would have to pursue her and prove himself ..

I on the otherhand do feel intelligent beautiful women like her intimidate men and men some not all like to be made to feel like they are Gods gift to women sorry I mean Ego's I just want a man who can cry, show his feelings open up be tough when needed and always soft , and truthful no cheaters..unfaithfulness is unforgiveable period..is all I want I want and need to be in love..sorry..Ok I can be codependent..

I do want a marriage..though I want to grow old together I want what Dana Reeves and Superman Christopher reeves had..
I want Romeo and Juliet , I want the man that inspired Elizabeth Barret Browning , Emily Dickinson...
the fire passion of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton and the jewels he gave her..wink teasing..

Well Jay, I hope you are open with all ladies when you first start dating them so they can make an educated decision and the right choice not to date you!
Usually such violent tendencies stem from childhood. Maybe you need to talk to someone.

Very true. Alot of people remain in bad marriages, because they have children and can not afford to spit up maintaining two households. It's hard for most people financially to split up, even prior to divorce lawyers getting their large pay cheque.
