Ben, thats what 419 scambaiter does. they waste the time of the scammer, in order to keep them from actually pulling a scam on someone. They say the scammers, once they realize they are being baited, get highly violent and threatening. they will put curses on you and threaten you life for wasting thier time. these baiters get a kick out of getting these scammers to spend so much time on them, in order to save an innocent. even if only for a short period of time. there are tips on the site and forums. they say this is not a job for the weak. sounds like fun, if you have the time to commit to each scammer.

Oh, yeah, you are so right - curses have been thrown at me from several religions (as far as I can tell). I am still waiting to feel the pinpricks of somebody sticking needless into a doll that looks like me.

They do get all huffy and talk about the Lord and all that. I have an expression I use for that - when people go from all sweetie and love to wrath and it is "going stripper on you". A variation on "going postal" (with all the due apologies to any postal workers on here...)

Ok y'all, it's Saturday morning and on MSNBC they were saying , Beware of using your debit cards. Banks all over the US are getting reports of money wiped out of customer accounts. It seem's lot's of money is making it's way to Moscow and several other countries. Citibank has traced money to three different countries. They say dozens of banks in the US are investigating this situation.

Its sooo cool. Ive been chatting with the real man behind the pics. Hes totally different than the financial consultant. Its kinda wierd seeing the same face and knowing im talking to someone else. In a strange way, I feel like I know him because Im used to the face. But I have to remember that I've actually just met him. Its hard to remember this has just begun. I think he likes the advantage that I already had a physical attraction to him, so he doesnt have to work on that aspect.
It must be a strange feeling knowing that someone has already had fantasies about you, before you ever knew they existed. In a non stalker way of course. Is this a strange twist of fate?
WeeLassy told me my fortune and said that my soul mate was not here when we were talking. She said "Unfortunately you will be disappointed....in love...at least at this time. But...You are though going to bring on a new foot, or a new partner...lol." Sorry Lassy for talking in third person here, but I dont know if you are reading this thread or not. If so, could this be what you were talking about? I hope you dont mind me quoting that part of our conversation. I really should email you.
I have so much to ponder over this whole ordeal, it has been an emotional roller coaster. So many things seem to be falling into place, in a confusing sort of way. This wasnt just a simple scam of someone saying they love you in the first email, or first chat. This is a long, involved build up to the scam and nothing was ever asked of me. He was romancing me. Not a simple nigerian scam letter. there was alot of time and sharing of emotion involved. sadly i must admit that it was only on my part. sorry ya'll, Im thinking this through outloud with all of you. Some sort of rehab, I guess. Thanx for putting up with me! *kisses*

I was talking this morning to the dumbest one ever. I almost feel I should send "her" some money just for the entertainment value of it...

And then I feel a bit bad about stringing them along. And then I get over it - these people want to scam me and others and if I make their life a bit difficult, it's almost like public service.

If they send you a picture embedded in an email, many times they will not even go to the trouble of downloading it and making a copy of it. I had one send me pictures and the properties linked the picture back to a modeling site in Hawaii!!! Simply open the email, right click on the picture and select properties...

Thanks Rob, I have noticed and also sometimes they don't even bother changing the file names so one from the Philippines sent me something today with two different female names among the 3 pics enclosedd...

Some of these people are so bad at what they do, it must be a terrible business.

bust them ben, tell them how stupid they are. personally i love what you have posted, does anyone have any long term contacts with any of these ppl? or am i the only stupid gullable person in here? i have been chatting tonite with the girl that led to my scammers pics. shes a lovely person that has been burned herself. and my contacts with him have been great. talking to the real person is elating.
has anyone else not had a long term online friendship/romance with a scammer? i feel so stupid, and gullable. i always have been perceived by others as skeptical and a good judge of character. it sets me aback that i fell so easily and for so long, to a big fat lie. although, to keep everyone up to date, he is still an FBI agent that went bad. this has become a strange unwanted relationship that amuses me. would i be so desperate to allow a person that has admitted to me that he is a thief, into my real life or my home, and let him have access to my family and things that are important to me? certainly not. but i am starting a romance novel that i cant keep out of my head. my imagination is rolling like you wouldnt believe. I think I have found my muse.

WOW! FANTASTIC UPDATE!! I found the man the pics belong to. He lives in Louisiana and his name is Dan. That did not take long at all, but Im sure most people may never find the truth about thier scammer's photos. I was just lucky that a girl that slept with him before, saw his photo and told me how to find him. I have been in contact with him and he gave me some very good advice to protect myself since I stupidly gave that scammer my real name. Ive shared emails with him and he thinks Im cute and offered a nice man to communicate with. Although he is a little leary of putting me on his IM in case Im part of the scam. LOL. GO FIGURE! Ive gone from scamee to scammer. Finding some kind of truth is a sense of satisfaction in itself. He wasnt real thrilled with me that I directed the scammer to his site, to show him that I know where he stole his photos from. But the good news is that I havent heard from the scammer since I showed him that I found all the truth I could dig up. Wow! Its been a long few days. AAAhhh! Now maybe I can get some sleep. Good Nite All!

what's really funny is it's probably a guy trying to make a buck. The most common attempted scam on my site goes like this... the Nigerian shows up (saying he is from Texas or where ever) and says I will buy that item you are selling for $5,000 (doesn't even try to haggle)...but my friend owes me $10,000 in New Jersey. My friend will courier a check to you for $10,000 and you ship the item to me, keep your $5,000 and send me my $5,000 balance. They send the check which bounces. Every day they are trying to pull this one off. We worked with the police to try and help recover one of our users funds and they traced the money being deposited into a bank in London, and then it got wired somewhere else, and somewhere else...lost pathway. But the scammer was from Nigeria. CNN did an expose on it. $5,000 in Nigeria is like a millionaire here. Too bad, because they have a good number of highly educated people who turn to crime because of a lack of government and police.

When they tell me they are from africa, I tell them I am not interested in discussing it further, and use the stealth settings to put them on permanently offline.
