I woke this morning pretty early...as always, made myself a pot of java, hopped on the computer, read some emails and had a conversation via IM....a pretty "typical" morning as far as I'm concerned...
After my IM conversation, since it's snowing like crazy here, I decided to lay down again and attempt to gain a few more hours of sleep since I've been ill and pretty tired lately....it worked...I woke up around 10:30 a.m.
After waking up this time, I headed straight for the shower, where I noticed as I was washing my face a pain on the top of my forehead....you know....THAT PAIN!!! Just to the touch it felt like a volcano ready to erupt!! Yep...I grabbed my shower mirror and there it was...the largest "Volcano Zit" I've had in years!!!! WTF!!!
Now...this week coming up is a HUGE week for me both professionally and personally !! I have no time to worry about being "Cyclops Man" with this huge enigma on my forehead!! All I can imagine is everyone I see this week running away from me shouting: "Freak!" "Freak!" "Freak!"...(ok, so that really wouldn't be much different than normal....but you get the picture...lol)
Well Gem, "I was on a mission to make somethin' happen, thought I'd go out and look for samson, ...to do a little mattress dancin'..."
but...had a few too many corona's last night, so I stuck my head in the freezer this morning....no facial can give ya that kinda rosy glow...(of course a little mattress dancin might have worked :))!! Now if only I could detatch my tongue that's still frozen to the roof of my mouth...
lol....Crack me up...is that what happened to me? The only difference between us is a freezer.....I much prefer things HOT...You know where your mouth melts...lol....Snicker
I'd like specifics. My skin FELT good afterwards, but it does here at home too. I'm thinking that I need to specify as to what type of facial I'd like. So I'm asking the ladies here ... Do you have a particular TYPE of facial that you enjoy and from which do you receive the best results?
I've never had problems with acne, but I would like to freshen up my skin now that I've hit the middle mark of life.
I'm not sure about chemical peels or anything like that. Any ideas, ladies?
Gem
Gem continue to do what you have been doing as You are Hot. You most certainetly do not need advice from us.
They only thing I do for myself is wash the face with water as I have not worn makeup other then lipstick and mascara in 10 plus years. My favorite body cream is Lubriderm and around the eyes is Estee Lauder...Perfectionist...Fricken brilliant
GeminiDi write: Ok, ladies. I have a question. What's the best kind of facial to get?
I just got my first one ever at a spa about an hour from here (I rarely ever pamper myself!), but it wasn't really any different from my regular at-home routine ... just took a little longer. lol
I was wondering if I should have asked for something in particular???
Gem
Gem there are so many out there and you can't keep up with them. Mainly unless you do it frequently it is just that pampering yourself once in a while. I had one a couple of yrs ago that was awesome. I bet she used many thing that others don't. My skin felt refreshed and exceptionally smooth. It took her 1 1/2 hrs. Of course we were friends and she pampered me but she does this with everyone. Lots of vitamins. So in this maybe some of these ladies can get more specific...
thegoodlife421 write: Yes I will throw good cash away for a one-time zit because cystic acne SCARS!!!!!!!
An office visit for a cortizone shot costs me a $30 co-pay, but laser treatments for acne scarring costs THOUSANDS . . . so, I pick my poison!!!
Well Good life assuming everyone has insurance that will be ok. Still a cortisone shot for one zit is a waste and totally unnessary.
Mandy OMG that was the best recipe of us all. Whoha and i bet works well(snickering loudly)but in any case by your day it should be where it's barely noticable if not gone. If nothing else just our remedies on this da*mn board ought to get rid of it..LOL. Many things really do work. Each person is different tho. Plain ole alcohol use to work for me. Of course i think i only had 12 zits in my life.....
Oh and Mandy cream put some cream on to get rid of the "burned skin"...LOL

NY!!!
I did email you for help! You were the first one I thought of that could help me but I got this Autoreply:
"MM beauty department currently unavailable. Our hours are between 1:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. UTC/GMT +5:30 hours"
Thank you everyone for your wonderful suggestions!! Yeah, even you Bill! Tomorrow is a big day so I had to do something quick...here's what I did.
Step 1: 8 oz. of pickle juice poured onto a wet nap (retrieved at my local Bakers Square) ...and dab lightly for 30 seconds.
Step 2: Using hairdryer, apply hot air to appropriate spot for 37 seconds to allow pickle juice and wet nap to dry...
Step 3: With hairdryer on "low", use 1 teaspoon McCormick's Cyan Pepper Seasoning and apply gently over wound...be careful to not get any in the eye. Hairdryer still being used to make wound as dry as possible.
Step 4: Using 1 Bar of Irish Spring bar soap, take free index finger and make a few passes along the soap. Take soap and rub the wound with the seasoning, dried pickle juice and wet nap deep within the skin....it may tingle a bit with hot air still applied with hairdryer.
Step 5: Sit on couch for 45 min...allow face to feel like 3rd degree burns....it's refreshing actually.
Step 6: Get in shower...turn on hot water until scalding...place face under spigot.
Step 7: Done!!! Pimple isn't gone but you'll forget all about it with the pain you just endured while going through the process of getting rid of it!!
LOL...He won't see the zit or anything else if he's still standing!
I agree with Goodlife...DON'T pop it...you'll have a red sore with a scab onit for a week or more. Apply Calamine lotion onit before bed everynight, and it will dry it up without scarring. I noticed calamine is one of the ingredients of the remedies GoodLife listed. Straight Calamine works.
DON'T use Retina-A because it will overly dry your skin out and you will look like your forehead was afflicted with eczema (sp?).
So...how's it going anyways Mandy...is it gone yet. We need an update! :-)
Also, do what Tallblonde said about putting a damp hot face cloth onit. As hot as you can handle it...good to do this over your entire face...it opens up the pores and draws the impurities like blackheads out too! Then massage the cloth around your face. Feels good too! Guaranteed to leave you with perfect skin over time!
If you just have one zit and don't suffer from acne, the cortisone injection would be a waste of your hard earned money! Damned things are expensive. If it's just a pimple, after all this advice, it should be gone by now!!! LOL
Only one thing "works," Mandalay, and that's a cortizone shot from your dermatologist. One shot and it won't even come to a head: it will be gone in 3 days.
Good prescription meds: Benzaclin, and Retin-A
Good over-the-counter med: Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion. The active ingredients include calamine, camphor, salycilic acid and sulphur (sulphur reduces inflammation). You can get Mario's Drying Lotion online from Sephora.
Over-the-counter cortizone and plain old Advil also help with inflammation.
If you pop it, it will fester and scar. Resist your mad-scientist instincts to mess with it.
Grasshopper I speak from experience; I've suffered (hormone-related) cystic acne for YEARS!!!!!!!
Mandy when i was doing my health biz several yrs ago i went to our yearly get together and people from all over the world were there. We had some very interesting conversations. One was about acne(pimples,Zits)LOL. Silver (liquid) at the health food store. put directly on there will clear it up. Mothers with daughters swear by this stuff. Be a quinea pig Mandy and tell me i it works......
TallBlonde50 write: Actually, a little dab of toothpaste will have the same result!!
I've tried the toothpaste & it works, seems to draw & dry it out, but make sure it's not a "whitening" toothpaste or a gel. Found out the hard way on that one, makes the entire area quite red for a day or two!
