Go North to Alaska for the best Salmon fishing. Kenai River! guided tours run all summer or fish from the shore, mostly men I might add.

Alluring - books and covers are so far apart it is a treasure of life. There is NOTHING so wonderful (for me, at least) than finding that my impression of someone is so very far from reality. Unfortunately, that does not happen anywhere near enough. Have you been to the grand canyon? It's one of the few natural wonders that actually leaves preconceptions in the dust.

Anywho, it seems everyone on this site (probably elsewhere as well) has just spewed forth with their individual imp[ression of how you have captured their mind and soul, so there probably is no need for more of that for you. But I am happy for both the stunning photographs you posted (several should be turned into paintings; I'd be eager to scarf them up), but also the ideas you have shared. THOSE have been fun and provoking. Geesh, now I feel the need to apologize lest you not misinterpret if there is a person out there who is not a fan of your beauty. Yes, I am, but actually I also have also enjoyed what you have written (for the most part).

Thanks - my 'on-line' experience has not been all that much something I would write home about, but you have helped.

I'm interested in doing a bit of salmon fishing this coming year. Can anyone tell me where and when is the best time to go?

Head to the Miramichi River or I think it is the Restigouche River in Northern New.Brunswick. they have lodges up there where the Politicians and Big Whig go for there summer Salmon fishing, I also heard Germans go there...you get the Atlantic Salmon which are good fighters...you will love it..

As alluringat44 shared with you Campbell River has a good spot but I would go to Port McNeil or Port Hardy, there seems to be better fishing in this area and I don't know why...maybe it is because it is the Island entry to the North between main land and Vancouver Island but the fishing is better up in this area. I am a former Vancouver Island resident so I know the Island pretty good and went Salmon fishing also.

thanks BQ. There are so many types of salmon, but maybe as you suggested the Atlantic might be a bit more fun and challenging to catch. This past summer I went fishing for strippper Bass in the Hudson with my brother in law. When I looked a#t his net, I laughed and asked him, "what are we catching baby whale?" I wasn't laughing anymore when I started hooking them...great fun!!

Good for you, fishing is a very wholesome sport, I've done a lot of fishing in the past..when you fish for the Atlantic they come in range of 10lbs to 30 lbs around here, am not sure the average as it has gotten better in the last 6 to 10 years as they have been releasing a lot of them from hatcheries to fill these rivers again. You can check on the internet for Salmon fishing and you should get some places from N.B.

    Enjoy...BQ

I can't help on where to fish but I love salmon in this order, Eggs, Skin, fillet, if the fillet is cooked in 1/4 stick of butter with one tablespoon of lemon juice and water, and a tight lid over pan or skillet.
