Feng Shui Style
Are you in a dating rut, or just trying to put some spark back into your current relationship? Maybe feng shui can help.
Feng shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy that deals with the relationship between humans and their environment. Referred to as the "art of placement", it is the practice of arranging the things around you to gain positive results.
The idea behind feng shui is to create and maintain a smooth flow of positive energy, known as "chi" . The belief is that when chi gets blocked, energy becomes stagnant and you're likely to feel "blocked" in life. This can affect your love life, as when you feel blocked, your energy and enthusiasm for matters of the heart will be low.
Here are eight simple feng shui tips for improving the energy of your bedroom, therefore improving the energy in your love life:
Clean the love nest: Clutter is a clear sign that chi is stuck. A room that is cluttered and messy will have low energy - and low energy is something you definitely don't want in the bedroom! So the first step to stirring up your love life is to tidy up!
Remove distractions: Get rid of any items in your bedroom that are unrelated to romance as these things will make you stray from your focus in a relationship. This includes work-related items (e.g. computer), dirty laundry and the TV. Oh, and aside from sex, don't use the bedroom as your place for working out. Exercising there brings in the energy of hard work and exertion. Do you want your love life to feel like a strenuous workout?
Cut the ties to the past: Toss anything that reminds you of failed past relationships. This includes photographs, your ex's sweatshirt, and old love letters. The idea here is that you don't want anything in your environment that reminds you of a love that went bad.
Open the door: Check out your bedroom door. Does it stick, squeak, or only open halfway? If so, it could be blocking the flow of romantic energy and opportunity into your life. Test the doorknob now a loose one could mean you're having a difficult time getting a handle on love.
Don't block the chi: Imagine you are a river of chi and walk from your front door to your bedroom. Ideally, you should be able to freely "flow" from one area to the other without having to step around furniture or other belongings. A clear path will allow fresh chi to find its way to your bedroom and nourish your love life.
Center things: If you're looking for equality in your relationship, place your bed so there is the same amount of space on either side. If one side is up against the wall, the person who sleeps on that side may feel confined or disempowered in the relationship. Ideally, your bed will be on the wall opposite the door, but not located directly in line with it.
Remove inappropriate imagery: Don't surround yourself with anything that represents solitude, loneliness, hard work, or conflict. For instance, remove your parents' wedding photo if you view their marriage as an unhappy one. Also, if you're looking for love, make sure to get rid of any art that depicts a single woman, as that will attract single attitudes and energies.
Increase the romantic images: Place romantic imagery (artwork, flowers, or whatever says "romance" to you) both on the wall opposite your bed (where you naturally look when lying down) and in the area of the room you first see when you enter the bedroom. When possible, accessorize using matching pairs ' a couple of candles, two vases, etc. as this symbolizes a relationship. A round mirror is also a good thing for the bedroom as it represents completion and unity. In feng shui, pink is the colour of love. Adding some pink, even if just a splash of it, will help hold love energy for you.
