August Newbies... Newcomer Introduction

  • View author's info Author posted on Aug 05, 2005 16:53

    Hello, Fellow Forum Posters.

    I, too, just decided to take the plunge and joined this service.

    I have no earth-shattering topic to introduce, only wanted to start a new thread with this month's newer members.

    Taking a chance, like the rest of you... wish us all luck in finding some kind of connection!

    Any other August newbies out there?

    I am not new to MM, but new to the forums. When blogging turned to flogging, I thought this might be a better place to enjoy an exchange of ideas. Looks like you have your trouble makers here too. As Lincoln once said, "People are as happy as they make up their minds to be."

    I have joined the "ranks". It seems difficult to get people to respond on this site, anyone have suggestions? Good luck to all, blue skies!

    As a single parent myself, the best advise I can give, is to pray, read a lot, and invest as much time as you can with your children while they (and you) are still young.
    I try to think about the things that meant a lot to me while I was growing up, and discovered that I remembered/cherished the simple things, like fishing with my father, walking on the beach in the early mornings discussing life, and spending time in pray as a family.
    I would recommend Stormie Omartian's bestselling book for parents; she shares wisdom for the journey of parenthood. Stormie looks back at the trials and joys of parenting and the power found in praying for her kids, and shares how parents can pray for their children?s

    * adolescence
    * peer pressure
    * school experiences
    * friends
    * relationship with God

    Hope this helps :-)

    Sometimes people get testy in MM & post things like "the regulars are tyrants who think they own the forums & won't let anyone else join in." No. That's not true.

    We recognise sometimes there's animosity among members who may say things like, "You're totally wrong & don't know what you're talking about."
    Most of the time we read that & think, "Oh no. Whose-Its and Whats-Its are at it again!" & then we visit often to see how it turns out. We do not butt in & gang up on people just for disagreeing with us & others.

    But, let's say someone posts their opinion & somebody else writes, "You're full of crap & a mutt-faced idiot too!" THEN we'll pay closer attention & some of us "regulars" might step in & say, "Hey! Low blow!"

    And therein lies the problem where we get blamed for bullying other members. It's the bullies who start hurling dirt who hate to be told to stop it. We "stick up" for all who are being treated like crap. We dislike name-callers. It's disrespectful & screws up the ambiance of the forums.

    There's a member right now who's gone psycho & is calling women "lesbos" & "morons" just for disagreeing with him! Imagine how the poor women feel! He's whining now about "MM bullies" like me. I'm no bully, I just hate rude pigs. And I told him off. He's still here, so I'm not so scary as a "pompous regular." Name-callers are so jeuvenile.

    But we need more civilized, funny input, especially from men! Please, join the party.

    So blondie, how long have you been on here to be a 'regular?"

    Hi--I'm brand new to the site. Two seconds after signing in I received my first IM. Are there any male vultures on here of whom I should be aware? Thanks.

    Same thing I've heard from a number of girls on this site. We guys get a few dingers but you guys must get buried. is it true the ratio is 12:1 guys to girls here?

    Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself.

    I am interested in checking out the activities at this site. I enjoy meeting new people.

    My home is the Kansas City area. I love learning new interests, and I am at home in the country and the city.

    Drop me a hello and tell me about yourself.

    Hello all new MM members! I'm just popping to tell you to feel free to post in any thread in the forum cuz we subscribe to the theory "the more, the merrier!" Not that we aren't merry enough! (and don't let the catfight thread scare yuh. It was started by SweetAimee who was making fun of two fake members who were hurling dirt right & left & she wanted to lighten the tension a bit.) But we collect senses of humour & we assume, uh, you have some! LOL So please, bring it!
