I was wondering what ya'll thoughts are on religion and theology? What you personally beiieve in not what the xian churches tell you to believe.

Religion and theology are particular interests of mine and I can hold my own in my personal theories.

I want to know whom and what you are and what you believe in. Are you part of the xian born again Church, are you agnostic, are you a satanist even? Tell all.

Convince me why I should believe your theory.

Remember I am curious and curiosity killed the cat. Please stick to information that pertains to this topic. Do not bore me with the "mundane"

Angyson write:
"To be born again" is an Aramaic idiomatic expression that means one must change one's thoughts and feelings.
The born again movement is making billions of dollars on this misunderstanding. Shame.

Every now and again, you do have an intriguing thought! The "concept of born again" was mis-understood not long after the words came from the mouth of Jesus...

Goo_gle "Re: dialects(idioms) of the various Disciples/Apostles barry dixon" for my source...

"The Galileans differed from the Jews of Jerusalem in the dialect of Aramaic which they spoke, and in many of their secular and religious customs. Since Jesus spoke in the Northern dialect of Aramaic, Nicodemus did not understand the idioms Jesus used. To be "born again" in Northern Galilean Aramaic means "to change one's thoughts and habits." Nicodemus spoke Southern Palestinian Aramaic (Chaldean) and therefore he did not understand Jesus. In other words the expression means to become simple like a child and start over to learn anew. Nicodemus took Jesus literally. He did not comprehend Jesus' spiritual meaning of accepting his teaching over dogmatic traditions of the Elders... "

Sometimes words are a very communication tool. Speaking in parables "assumes" that the listener has the same understanding as the speaker. When this assumption is incorrect, then the message is often times lost.

Elle40, I'm Jewish Messianic, I could talk about my daughters for the next 1000 hours and no one could know them like I do, because I experienced them.

Here is how you can experience the real truth,... be alone and say: ......G_D I don't believe in you, I can't believe like those Christians , they turn me off,if your real , prove it, show me in a way that will absolutely prove to me that your real,I give you my permission to show me proof of you. Then wait and see what happens.

Mine is, cover all your bases best you can, be good, have fun. Then I attach a risk/reward assessment to the fun part and any bases that are a pain in the buht (can you believe the correct spelling is not allowed here?) to cover and act accordingly.

I know there is a God, and I do get help and miracles do occur and my prayers do get answered and it was proven to me in an experience. But the religion part, I'm still kind of shaking my head at the irrationality of it all and go with my gut feeling. I heard God was good. He wouldn't send a good guy like me to BURN IN HELL just for having a good time now, would he? I hope not. Back to risk/reward assessment. Damn, they had to throw that old "eternity" thing in there. That's not fun. MERCY!!! MERCY!!! hehe. I have an out. Lord, please forgive me. There. I'm covered.

I was raised LDS (Mormon). Not so much anymore.

I think one of the best unique ideas is that we aren't sitting around doing nothing but singing praises to God. Don't get me wrong. That's fine by me. But my voice is going to be pretty sore after a few thousand years. I love golf. But if I were to play 24-7 for 15,000 years it would get old. After death there will be plenty to do.
