To all our UK friends.

In what Tony Blair is calling a terror attack on your country, our hearts and prayers go out to you on this horrible day. We stand by you just as you did us in our time of crisis. We wish you the best during this time.

i think we should also keep everyone in the path of the hurricane in our thoughts and prayers. last year was bad, this year is starting. there are a lot of people still recovering from last year and now here we go again.

Following the news all day..the scenes of crime are all the familiar sites which I go to often..stretchers ferrying our bodies swathed in plastic bags and blankets carrying someone's love one..missing ones..the gray day mourns as thousands slowly trudge back to work, coping as best with the inadequate transport system..the Olympic euphoria cruelly erased by this sombre nightmare, TV presenters adorn their dark suits and trying not to flinch from the sight of blood and maimed passengers with faces registering shock, numbness, pain and desolation..tonight the mortuaries of every London hospital will be filled with bodies of every unimaginable horror..psychiatrists reeling out their post-shock symptoms to those affected ..does life really go on ..zombie like , we see people keeping their stoical facade..yet one woman said it all as she crawled out of the hell hole ..she wailed in anguish : 'I just want to go home to be with my family...' that is where everyone in the world want to be in such awful desperate times..to feel safe in the embrace of our love ones and family..how hard is that to understand? Don't these terrorists have families they want to protect too?

Like a Brit said yesterday when interviewed... he had been injured in one of the bombings, he said: "It's always in the back of our minds that such a thing can happen, but it has to stay there, because if it comes in the front of our minds then we'll go out of our minds..." And that's how they live through it in England...

Ditto...

The incredible news coverage of the 9/11 attack on the twin towers truly brought home to everyone in the World who has never experienced terrorism, as close to a first hand experience as one could get without being in the midst of it all. The horror and fear of those people in the towers or on the street running away could be felt.

That memory holds strong, and maybe for the first time has given those of us who have always felt "safe" where we live a truer feeling of what those who have experienced it first hand have felt, possibly on more than one occasion. Such as Bonnie.

Prior, it was like...it could never happen to us. It was something that happened far away. We felt for those people, but not the same as we do now. Now that it's touched us closer to home.

It seems the world has gone insane yet again. It never ceases to amaze me how we can go from a feeling of elation over London being named the Olympic choice for 2012..to a feeling of such utter chaos within the span of mere hours. The world put there arms around the US during 9/11...now once again she puts her arms around yet another land. during the worst attacks they have known in years. I believe terrorism is and always will be a threat in our life time. It is the innocent people that suffer. My heart goes out to the families and victims.

JUst to let u folks know that my family and I are safe. I have 2 American teenaged girls stranded with me .ON the phone all morning with their parents to pacify them.. They were due to leave for Wales today but as the whole city is cordoned off to make way for emergency services , they will be stranded till normal transport services resume . It is just too shocking to think that yesterday here in London there was mass euphoria from the Olympic news and this morning everything changes and it is panic and mayhem everywhere..
We live in such dangerous times..
Let's pray for the safe passage for all who are travelling at this time of the year..

I had started a thread about News around the World and included this latest newsflash in there.
I am still in shock.
Hope all our UK MM-friends here are safe and sound, and their families as well.
