And The Award Goes To... Message Board

I started this thread as a spin-off to the "FYI" post in regards to Orion & Gracie.

Time and time again the "regulars" ponder why newbies are leery of posting. The reception Gracie received should remove all doubts in regards to the "why few men or new members participate in the thread".

The award for showing intelligence, compassion, maturity and sensibility goes to -- drum-roll please --

    1st Place: Minerva

    2nd Place: Andy/Edtarboosh

    3rd Place: Lorrie

Of all the responses Minerva used common sense. As she stated the poster offered contact information, posted a photo, respond repeatedly with an explanation as to her motives, her only sin was that she was vague. But you didn't have to be a brain surgeon to put 2 and 2 together.

Andy...you missed your calling. Why aren't you on the Supreme Court? Although you were cautious of Gracie's intentions you summed up the situation accurately and in a sophisticated manner.

Mandaly/Jim: Honorable mentions to you. Yes, you kept a foot on both sides of the fence but you did so in a way that was not as guarded and suspicious as the other posters.

Suzan/Fun: You were off your mark this time. Lorrie was correct, from all indications Orion was indeed "Looking for Ms/Mrs. Goodbar" and on a search.

Moonray/Mary(Butter)& Aloha Tina from Hawaii: Was out in left field and gave the most half-baked point of view I've read in a long time.

Sorry ... it was such a humorous visual ... Andy ... naked ... under one of those robes ... I'm sure he'd make the CNN Headlines for flashing the visiting dignitaries!

    Okay ... I'm finished ... LOL

Oh, by the way, K3T ... thank you again ... I sincerely appreciate what you've accomplished here!

Wow... the first negative post I ever got from someone... wow... I need to see Dr. Sandra because I don't know how to cope... lol... teasing, teasing... ;)

k3t... everyone is entitled to their opinion and that doesn't mean it's going to please everybody that hears it...

Please bear in mind also that you don't know who met Orion and that maybe this member knows a lot more of what is going on but prefers not to post because it is none of her business, and maybe some of the members that posted ARE aware of things that she shared with them. k3t, these are all possibilities that have to be taken into account before judging posts that members write. As everyone knows here, I don't like people criticizing other people and I try to post so that people can see that there are 2 sides to a story. I don't think that my posts are out in left field, but like I said, you're entitled to your opinion. I too know Orion and he was always very sweet with me on the forum. Granted he got into huge discussions with other members, which I totally disliked, and that qualifies him as being a confrontational type of person as other members here are and that is not my type of man, but like I said, there are 2 sides to a story. After all, this IS a private matter that happened between Orion and Gracie, it's something that is even over with, it's past, it's history, and that's exactly my point here... why drag a personal matter that happened between 2 people into public forum when one of these two people isn't even a member anymore. It is suspicious.

Mand, Ed, thank you for injecting some very well thought-out posts.

    'Nuff said...

I completely disagree with you Knock3times that the FYI thread is the type of thread that Newbies or Men read and would prohibit their participation on these forum threads. In fact, it's a thread like this one that you created that is more of a hindrance. You have now judged people solely on words written in a forum thread. Not only that, but words that are based on one person's account of a still alleged situation. You have judged people on maturity level, compassion levels toward others and intelligence without knowing any of the people that made any comments on that thread. You've labeled certain individuals but left others out. If you were going to do a full analysis of the people that posted on that thread, you should have. Here are a couple other issues I have:

    Knock3times Wrote:

She may have posted a picture, but is the picture of her and the man she has mentioned? Can you see why suspicions are still there? Reasonable doubt until we here from the person in question? I think so.

What indications? From Gracie? Many of Orion's posts are now gone, how are you assuming he was doing this? Have you read any of the private emails he may have sent to other women? Even if he did meet someone from here, couldn't they just have been friends? Lorrie and Suzan were both right and both made valid points.

I also agree with WWPT, Tina did a fine job with her post. As a Newbie, she wanted to know as much as she can about this man in the event he came back and looked her up. (at least that's how I took her post)

Tina wrote:"I'm confused, does she want to just "get back at him" or does she really want to help other women stay away from him. It just doesnt seem to clear. If the latter is the situation, just lay it all out. Tell it, tell it all. Name, description and all, if you want to help, really help. You aren't really saying anything to be too helpful. You've taken the first step by coming on the forums. Just go all the way and say what it is you want to say.The cat and mouse, vague game is rather confusing."

I think Tina belatedly summed it up rather nicely. It was an ambiguos post and hard to understand what the motive was. I figured Grace was a very nice (maybe too nice) of a person who felt awkward admitting she'd been "taken in" and a little embarrassed, but was trying in her own way to enlighten people, without sounding bitter.I felt like dealing with a child-Point to the doll and show us where he touched you, OK? I enjoyed Orions intelligence to an extent, but he reached a point where another side showed that made her more beleivable. Confusing to say the least.

Very difficult to make an valid opinion on and not a good one to award people points on either. But thanks for making "us" aware of an issue that does need improving on.
