My daughter is driving me insane. I am a heart beat away from the nut house.

Daddy, I want horse riding lessons. She gets private lessons.
Daddy, I need boots, gloves, and a helmet. We get the stuff.
Daddy, I want to go trail riding with you. We are going on Father's Day.
Daddy, I want a horse tatoo at the fair. She gets a horse tatoo.
Daddy, I want my face painted like a horse. She gets her face painted.
Daddy, I want a horse doll. She gets a horse doll.

You have probably figured out that my daughter has me wrapped around her finger. So be it.

What is the deal with females and horses? Can anyone explain why every girl I know wants horses?

Lets get back to the horse..I wanta..since I train and show and sell Dressage and Jumpers..and Hunters...let me put it this way. Give your daughter the pony or horse but from a good trainer. It should run you total bout 75,000...that includes all clothes, pony and gear...now the rent a month will go for 300-600 a month depending on what you need. But gals and horses go together and it is a strange marriage of sorts..and yes I do keep a smile on the men I date. I can give you info on good trainers in your area...oh but you an write this off on your taxes...

As a professional horsewoman I can give you my point of view. First of all, how old is your daughter? If she is younger than 15 it's about power, freedom and novelty. The unique power felt when riding such a large animal and putting it through it's paces gives a child, and most commonly a girl, a feeling of control that she gets no where else. This is not due to any lack in parenting, it is simply the only way to achieve such a feeling of power, control, achievement, ability, whatever you want to call it. I know many many many fathers and mothers who have this same question. I have observed with my students that unless the girl is incredibly motivated, not so much talented, this novelty wears off at puberty - unfortunately. That's just one equestrians opinion.

"Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy.."

Well, I walk into the room
Passing out hundred dollar bills
And it kills and it thrills like the horns on my Silverado grill
And I buy the bar a double round of crown
And everybody's getting down
An' this town ain't never gonna be the same.

[Chorus:]
Cause I saddle up my horse
and I ride into the city
I make a lot of noise
Cause the girls
They are so pretty
Riding up and down Broadway
on my old stud Leroy
And the girls say
Save a horse, ride a cowboy.
Everybody says
Save a horse, Ride a cowboy

Just to get the day started....:)

There he is......ever had a Cat ride on your BACK? From the looks of your picture, I bet you have!

No one can explain the connection. I'll just enjoy the fact my daughter loves horses because that is something we can do together.

I did learn there is no way that I will ever purchase a horse. It is renting for me.

The downside of dating a horsewoman is that if she's running a 60 horse farm, any guy is going to be #61- every stud in the place is going to be fed, brushed and bred before she even thinks about getting around to you...:)

Ya know...I know alot of horse women...and you are sooooooooo right! lol

I forgot those costs...I have a friend whose daughter competes...it's expensive and time consuming. Another friend who had 2 daughters that competed said in hindsight he wished he just given his daughters the lessons, no competitions and just gone riding in the mountains with them. A much more enjoyable experience and quality time spent with his daughters. Hindsight is 20/20.

I am already legally changing my daughter's name to Mercedes. In her teenage years I will change it again to Ferrari.
