I had an e-mail today (as I guess many other MM folk did) along the lines of:

"This is from the producer of TV show of Fantasy Island.

    Dear Members,

We are still casting for Fantasy Island Contestants. So far only 100 of our members have applied and 35 have been accepted. ...

    Don't miss the opportunity
to spend a week with 200 super models on an Island Paradise!!!"

    I was doing a little bit of arithmetic: 100 blokes x $25,000 "advertising fee" (i.e. entrance money) = $2.5MM.

According to the "Sexbomb Modelling Agency" website (which the links page in the Fantasy Island site takes you to...!), the going day rate for being a Aussie model 'beer babe' is Au$500 (about $380 US). So... $380 x 200 girlies x 18 days = $1.4MM.

Hmmm - somebody's making some money somewhere...

    Caveat emptor (buyer beware).

Oh, I have a feeling that they are a little...what's the word...desperate? Yeah, that would be it...desperate, because I got an email from them too. Evidently someone doesn't read profiles very well.

I got one too...must have been my big balls that threw them off.

One very tall order to fill. Find 100 men who:

    Are single

Have assets exceeding US$500K and will prove it.

Are of the shape/stature to compete against other men on TV

That can or would compete, especially 45 years old against 25 year olds in what amounts to much about visual appeal for women half their age, and do it publicly.

Are of the state of mind to put themsevles on TV to compete for women at all, as it's really the realm of the under 30 crowd, sort of beyond the maturity of how most older men are willing to behave, at least publicly and on TV, as many of them will more than likely be the subject of ridicule rather than become celebrities.

Are currently not in a relationship that would prevent such participation

Considering travel times, can find a block of 22+ days free

Can commit to an event whose specific dates are yet announced

Can commit to such a block of time whose dates are not flexibile

Have interest in competing for women whose main interest is not a date but likely exposure, since they are too far away to realistically date after the show

That would put down $25,000 even under the guise of purchasing advertisement for the opportunity

Can and are interested in traveling outside the USA to a destination yet to be announced but likely on the order of 20+ hours each way travel

That don't already have gorgeous women seeking them at least via the web or sites like this one.

Especially considering any man with half a brain knows he could set his own schedule and put down $5000 and have 14 private days of fun with 1 or 2 or 3 incredibly gorgeous women whose main interest is sex and whose venue is party or romance at any number of tropical locations such as the Caribbean, Brazil, Columbia, or Thailand and at the end, he can marry them, or walk, no questions asked.

    A tall order indeed.

And what about the part that says it was to be filmed over 13 weeks? Hmmm.

I just read a bit about this and unless I read wrong each of the 100 "winning" bachelors must put up $25,000.00 for the honor of being in this "contest". The 25k will allow you to advertise your business, but C'mon.........pretty scammy.
