Speaking of differences between news overseas and news here, did you see the story about NewsWeek's last issue? Apparently, on the several International versions of the magazine they had a picture of a Muslim fighter with a weapon, but on the US version they did a coverstory on a celebrity photographer. Are they dumbing down the news for us?
I am, admittedly, a Fox News junkie (anybody know of a support group or pill?), but I really enjoy a magazine I've picked up a few times called something like the "World News Report" that merely reproduces articles from around the world and identifies their source by what type of perspective they have (i.e.-"libertarian paper", "conservative press", "liberal periodical", etc...). I think everyone has an agenda in the newstelling business [including, I'm sure, editing and choosing which articles to put even in this magazine], but, I haven't found a better source for a collection of different worldwide views on the same subject.
If you want to really know whats happening around the world, without any bias, there is only one source and the sane and sensible around the world have all agreed. The BBC World service is head and shoulders above all comers, no contest. No sensationalism, no political bias , just facts as they are,
