I agree with Realtor_mentor's comment waaay back at the beginning of this original post. People come into our lives for a reason and sometimes that reason changes and so do the people. Try not to feel bad for multiple relationships. A good friend once told me to think of it this way: arent you lucky that you found not one but two people in your life who loved you enough to marry you... Some people never even get the chance to be loved like that even once.
In any case, I can only assume that with each relationship you have you learn more and more
about yourself and what you are looking for. Unfortunately, the more relationships you have, the more baggage and cynicism you might hold and thats why the statistics for success decline. Its not impossible to find that true lifelong connection, you just need to let go of the idea that its something you are doing wrong. There is one special person for everyone out there. Maybe special for the time, maybe special forever.

I appreciate your socialogical statistics but I would like to shine a realistic spotlight  to the other side of the coin.  People acuse me of being an optomist!  Statistics show that if one enters into a period of personal growth and  truly seeks to grow and learn from the experience, better can come.  As a person gets to know ones self better, learns to communicate more effectively and more clearly, discovers what truly makes one joyful, we attract a higher level of frequency partner.  Additionally, we choose partners for differing phases in our life.  Just because a partner is a perfect fit for one phase doesnt mean they are able to transition to another. Sometimes we are meant to be in a persons life for a short time or a lifetime.  The one thing I know for sure is that we should treat each other more respectfully, kindly with honesty.

Past statistics have shown that in the U.S. 50% percent of first marriages, 67% of second, and 73% of third marriages end in divorce.  It makes you wonder why it gets worse the more you try.

I read recently that MSG ingredient in foods may be a culprit in our "battle of the bulge". It also has some other name which I do not know at this time. We can look for it in all the packaged foods we buy just to see how rampant it is.

Monosodium glutimate. Did I spell that right Lassy?? Cubster watch out for chinese food. Mostly all chinese restaurants use it.Lot's of it!!! I used to cook with it at home until I heard it causes cancer.

Working won't kill you. I work too, if I did'nt maybe I would go nut's. I have 3 kids and am a single mom too,at the age of 28. I am at the point that i don't care anymore. I do what I want when I want. I can make it forsure without a man, but am lonely without my kids.

Somehow the topic turned into friends, varying away from tutelarkitten67's original post... and yet you are right, all of you, in that you do (as the Bette Midler song goes) "You Have to Have Friends!" (or is it "You Gotta Have Friends?" and why don't they allow us to have little musical note icons here?)

ww... your comment of how MANY friends does one have really challenged me, so I went into my address book and did a quick head count. I have 94 friends whom I know each and every one personally, and email to regularily every week. Then I narrowed it down; I have approximately 54 close friends. To go further, I have possibly 14 who would give the shirt off their back to me, and six very strong extremely close friends, who are my "Steel Magnolia" friends, and two of those are men! Let's face it, I AM blessed!

(I have 11 aunts and uncles and since I am 3rd generation and a grandma, this is the main reason why I have so many friends).

tutelarkitten67 and ww -- I didn't want you to think I was bragging -- I am just blessed with having a lot of supportive family and friends, and yet my personal philosophy has always been, It's not the Quantity of friends you have; it's the Quality.

You are YOUNG. You WILL find Mr. Right! You will find him, or he will find you, I promise! I'm just proud of you for searching for a friend on a safe place such as this.
Good luck with those wee ones, and best wishes always for smooth sailing!

This is to weelassy 1. I LOVE the medical profession. I read all the time, and the medical book is like my best friend. If my friends have a problem, they tell me the illness and I look it up. Or if I have a problem as well. Sometimes I cannot figure out what is wrong though, like when I wasn't eating right, and had to take Vitamin B Complex. I had all these terrible mouth sores...so painful. How do all the Anorexics get away with not having the mouth sores that I had, when they are WORSE than me? I never hear that anorexics have mouth sores because of a deficiency in B Vitamins. They should REALLY be hurting. I had all these canker sores. My diet was lousy, but so are the cocaine addictes, and I never hear anyone complain about mouth sores, I wonder why they don't get what I had.

MSG is present in most prepared meals esp Chinese food and I try to avoid feeding my kids that..u feel it when u take it, my face tingles with a sort of numbing sensation and it leaves u very thirsty after the meal..
The long term effect is dire, it is suppose to cause cancer too..
Processed, mass-produced food this last decade has caused more harm than feed hunger..my kids go to baording schools where they are fed rubbish..food catered by caterers who also supply to 'hospitals and prisons'..so it is true that my kids are fed lousier food than prisoners, since the latter are given food that cost more per head than theirs..

In a free country like US, you still get the big corporations , from tobacco companies, to unhealthy junk food producers like Coke and MacD..determine what goes into your children and your stomach..the war begins in your own turf..if you send some missiles into those companies it would save at least half a million Americans from lung cancer and heart diseases related to smoking..and obesity and high cholestrol and all sorts of malnutrition diseases caused by the mass consumption of their product..and not forgetting the huge health bill you will be saving for the economy...
Yet in the face of such insiduous brainwashing , Americans who are parents are not doing much to campaign against their rights to better quality of mass produced food for their kids..instead you are letting a new breed of professionals develop their marketto capture the aftermath of that destruction.. from drastic liposuction, fat camp, a host of dieting plans and pills to pop and magic formula exercise dvds...when what you really need is educating mums , dads, kids and schools and all other child -related organisation and businesses to rethink their policies and ethos..
wwww. you are right about the fat mall walkers..when I see Asians becoming that shape in Hawaii and CA..I fear the conclusion is they have forsaken their healthy diet for the dire American one..

"We go back to the old survival of the fittest theory..evolution, evolution..change , change..the only constant factor in life..coping with change..ad infinitum"

We have never quit being in that mode, even now. Competition, thus nations at each others throat, tribal warfare in Africa, religious warfare, geoncide, etc. Crazy.

I agree with the obesity problem. Just go to a mall someday, sit, and look at the people passing by. 90 percent are overweight, including many of the very young.

whenever I am in the US I am flabbergasted at the huge portions that restaurants serve and the endless free refills for soda that they give ..you no longer shop at supermarkets but more like warehouse marts where one could only get aspirins in bottles of 1000 and salsa sauce by the gallons..I mean that could last you two lifetimes ..so I think that obesity begins with excessive availability and easy accesibilty of cheap unhealthy junk food. Parental control could only do that much against the constant lure of advertisement of such food..unless there is concerted effort on all sides to curb that excess, the next generation of Americans will be burying their children before their time.
Good habit in eating has to be formed at a very young age, of course the mother is the first person that starts that chain..and with working mums who are too tired to cook healthy good meals and everything comes in ready processed packs, there is little a child could do but eat and be conditioned by what mum cooks. It becomes a vicious cycle that has to be broken..

But if we breed out competition, what would you have? Who would work? Invent? Medicine? Science? Businesses? etc. etc.

www..go to bed and forget about the world problems ..we can't worry about that too much..when you leave them they take care of themselves..a bit like teenagers..they need to find their own way..even if it is the wrong way..

Competition is really the big problem. My ball team will beat yours, my grades are better, I can run faster, think smarter, my religion better, my heaven better, my kids cuter, my country, my tribe,my language, my boy scout troupe, my band, my music, my paintings, my army, etc.etc.

And, all animals compete.

But if we breed out competition, what would you have? Who would work? Invent? Medicine? Science? Businesses? etc. etc.
