Well, it would be extremely rude not to show up after taking it as far as arranging a meeting.

It is even more rude to not explain yourself afterwards.

Hmm.

If he agreed to meet with you and didn't show up there are literally thousands of possible reasons.

I won't pretend to know what happened, but I will tell you what I would be thinking.

I would be extremely nervous to actually meet someone I thought I knew online. I am not someone who believes you can truly know someone by conversing through written correspondence alone.

I think as humans we create an idea of someone; no, not just appearance. The sound of their voice, the smell of their hair, figures of speech, facial expressions, everything.

I would be extremely apprehensive to meet someone and have them not live up to that idea I've built in my head; or to not live up to their idea of me.

Yeah, I guess I am that shy. Perhaps I should seek more adventure and strive to try something different. But I know me, and I know I'd be second guessing the decision all the way to the meeting point .. and I might even succeed at backing out.

My mother wouldn't have removed my internet priviledges, my wife wouldnt have caught me, although I would have been shocked if such a stunning woman had been interested enough to meet me.

Some shyness is understood. Even after meeting dozens and dozens over the years, I still feel some of that anxiety.

The question is how rude would you be about it. Would you simply disappear for ever, or would you call to appologize to the person who's time you have wasted and whose heart strings you have played needlessly???

I don't know how a person could get to know someone on here for the simple fact they can put anything down for you to believe them.. Its in meeting them and talking to them that you will see them for who they really are. I say don't get to carried away until they call or come to see you and then you can take it from there. And still you have to be somewhat observant of a person. That is just my opinion and I'm sticking to it...

ALSO be careful of HOTDOC32!!!! Really nice guy I suppose, moves WAY too quickly with the falling "in love" and marriage ideas! When he got off the plane....NOT the same guy in the photos AT ALL! Atleast 10yrs older and just completely different! My sister and friends ran a background check and he isn't or hasn't EVER been a plastic surgeon as he said nor lived in the places he said, etc etc etc! OVER IT!

I completely agree with you Redhead..it was totally about him, easy to type lies to some unknown individual, certainly another to lie into thier eyes. You would think men our age would have learned by now the affects playing games can have on an open soul.

Lots of good potential answers! Most elude to he was not being totally honest about himself (okay, let's call it what it really is: lying)and in meeting you he would have to deal with that so he chose the easy way out.

You'll never really know why he disappeared. I call them "Magicians". In this situation, it is truly about them, not you. Let it go and move on. If he's got the cahoonies to actually come back (with some lame excuse), shut the door! If he did it once, he'll do it again.

I have never been able to figure out the "drop out" factor... Try not to take it too personally, as it was probably something with them. Perhaps something positive like they met the next woman of their dreams and just disappeared on the other "irons in the fire", or perhaps something negative like their wife caught them, they lost their job, their mother died, or who knows what.

I find times like this,it is best to ponder for a moment about your involvement in the situation, then consider it practice for the next time and simply move on...
