Nah my dog is just like a man, doesnt come when I call, doesnt pick up after herself and expects me to wait on her hand and food. God forbid if I ever asked HER to make dinner one night...

I had to start an alternate topic to 'goodlifes' cat thread. It's not that I have anything against cats, I just don't have any and I find my baby better suited to walking, running and hiking. Besides, how could you resist this face...

My pomeranian, Bella, likes the sofa also. She's a nut, though. She also likes the kitchen floor.

That is a mighty cute picture, travelchic. I like the pillows, also. Is that where your dog sleeps?

She naps there while I watch TV. She loves the top of the sofa.

James how comforting those words are: -

I've traveled the pathways beside you
I've made you the lord of my day
But now that I've gone on before you
It's only to show you the way.

I am convinced there are only two places in this world that you get truly unconditional love--your dog and your mother.
I Really like the picture of the dog and the deer--very touching and I admit brought me to tears.
I have had three dogs. The first was an Old English Sheepdog named Manfred. He was named after Mighty Manfred the WonderDog in the old Tom Terrific cartoon from Captain Kangaroo. You have to be fifty something to remember this and it makes perfect sense--otherwise you would think I was nuts. Now let me tell you--an old english sheepdog in my xke convertible with the top down at the
grocery store parking lot would draw a small crowd! He was a girl/lady magnet.
Wagner was the second and was the third dog of a widow who lived in my condo complex. She was named after a friend whose last name was Wagner and who rescued her from an animal shelter where she had limited time to live. "Wags" was a beautiful blond colored dog as the photos will show and a real sweet dog who everyone loved in my neighborhood.
My current dog is Snoopy and is a black and white springer spaniel mix. She came out of the back of a pickup truck and was given to me free. I tried to find her a home for three days unsuccessfully (thankfully) and after that she was my dog. Eleven years later, she is truly priceless and no amount of money could buy her.
If I meet someone who doen't like animals, I don't consider them to be anyone that I want to know on a long term basis.
My dogs have certainly provided uncondtional love second only to that of my mother, and taught me that I am capable of uncondtional love as well.
I hope to find a lady who understands what this is about and can love me for the kindness and love I have rather than external possessions.
To those who have lost these truly loved ones, I pass along this:
I've traveled the pathways beside you
I've made you the lord of my day
But now that I've gone on before you
It's only to show you the way.
The first picture is of "Mighty Manfred The WonderDog" and me in 1978.

Funnygal---I feel for you, I lost my other bichon frise some time ago, both Texas and I were so ditraught, Texas could not eat for a week.....someone gave me this poem:

God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put his arms around you
And whispered "come to me"
With tearful eyes we watched you
And saw you pass away
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay
A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hand at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best!

Hope it gives you comfort in your loss.

loss of my dog,

i wished sometimes the unconditional love that dogs and other pets give,
humans coulddd.
it is a month, and i still cry,
and remember the good times, but
it is so hard. u look and see a dog
and it is not the face of the one u
lost.......
i know it is difficult, and normal
to go through this, but i miss her so
much
