Hey Bonnie: I would say we definitely choose our spouses/girlfriends based on some mental similarities but I don't know about the physical side of it. I don't think I would want to date a woman that looked remotely close to me ;-) Ok, maybe the same color eyes but that's where I draw the line.

Oh yeah, I don't think I could picture you walking a St. Bernard down the street. That would be quite the scene!

CP, YOu might be pleasantly surprised that a female version of yourself could be even more attractive!
Not long ago,I took over the leash of a friend's Labrador and within seconds it spotted a bi*tch and gave chase, I fell straight forward and scraped my knee badly and injured my wrist. Moral of the story , never walk a dog twice your size! I think I should just stick to chihuahuas...

    HI CP,
Love your dog..do u think dogs look like their owners? I have a dog park right in front of my house and have been observing for a long time dogs and their owners..I am half convinced that most of the dogs look like their owners..or at least have characteristics like their owners..

Mmmmmm........How much I would like to look like my dog?..... One is sleek fit and very handsome, or there is scruff bag spangle short stocky and again very fit, or my old lady tall, sleek proud air, which she totally lets herself down by catching mice!

I lost my last dog after many blissfull 12 years with her last summer. She passed away under my dining room table as I was cooking and expecting many family members over for a brill dinner.....You can understand that dinner did not happen as I sobbed my heart out. Saying goodbye to her was hard as she layed there for 2 hours before she was carried out on a stretcher from the SPCA... she was a big dog I gave her last hugs and kisses in the SPCA VAN THAT ARRIVED TO take her away....opps sorry for the caps

SHE WAS A DINGO/Australian sheppard....very protective and could be nasty if she felt a threat however extremely devoted to all members in my family...still miss her

Wee, she must have been a beautiful dog, I love Australian sheppards. BTW - that's a great pic of you, Wee... in a NLW of course... lol

BTW, Wee, did you see the thread of the MM gathering in Toronto in the MEssage Board?? It would be great if you could make it... that is if there IS a gathering!! ;)

Dogs are wonderful. I lost my 14 year old Sheltie on Feb. 24 of this year to a stroke.
I was very sad for a while but now I am thinking about adopting a new little girle or boy dog from a humane rescue. I feel that I can now give my love to aonther dog again. Ihave been on petfinder .com quite a bit to check the wonderful dogs available. It will probably be another month or so I really seriously pursue adopting

    Cp,
My other theory is if we choose our dogs who look like us, do we choose our spouses to look like us or have characteristics that mirror us?

I know many couples who look like brother and sister teams and seem to mirror each other alot..

LOL....Scooby Doo is not a pitbull nor is that great picture champagnepowder posted of his best friend.....not sure how you confused that pic of a beautiful animal with a pitbull....

    CP,
I could see certainly in the last pic that there is a similar expression between u and your dog..lol

I had two dogs as a child and one followed me to school like Mary's little lamb..would love to have a dog preferably a St. Bernard..except it would be the dog taking me on a walk rather than the other way around..

Well at least you had warning!! Chance just lay there while we all ran away!!!

The Maltese Terrier(Toy) was top dog (probably cos we got him 2 weeks prior to Chance). When we lived in S Africa we would often walk into the garden and see Chance doing a couple of lengths in the pool lol
