For me, I love animals, and being on a horse with nature is an awesome feeling and being on a HOG I love the freedom and the closeness when your on the back of the bike wrapped around someone.
Though I do like animals, I have never ridden a horse. Sure do love those bikes though!!
Hello to everyone! I see many unfamiliar faces. Hi Auburn Hair, at least I 'know' you. :) I've just begun jumping into this forum thing. Feel as if I know all the bloggers..... Though I seem to find some in the forum, it seems to me that these are predominately treated as totally separate entities and people frequent one or another...Yes??? At any rate...nice to 'meet' all you new faces!!!

Horse riding is an emotional bond you work with the horse to gain what you want, you work together to get fit enough to cover the 60km ride and reach the goal you dont just sit on a horse and it goes it takes time and bonding but when you finish that race nothing tops the rush win or lose. A motorcycle is power at your finger tips control mostly no bonding needed but a rush never the less
I'm a woman and am not intrested in horses and do like motorbikes. I have a honda shadow. just learning for now but see why men like riding motorbikes.
Hey! I LOVE both horses and Harleys and ride both! But, alpensnow... I have a BIG Question! When you wrote "whereas most blokes like things that go "Vroom!" Er, Ah, did you mean Blondes instead of blokes? Just curious!

Maybe in the United Kingdom Alpen but this girly likes the motorcycle & cars better. Although I do like animals if you give me the choice i like the thrill of the fast machine....been to much of a responsible person as of late for that fun stuff so I would go for the safety of a horse. Although my girly leathers aren't packed to far away in the closet - lol
FYI- The term "Iron Horse" is used and generalized to reference a Harley-Davidson. Also the term HOG is another term used for Harley Owners Group. I ride both animal and machine, lol. Both have their own special features. So I am off to ride into the sunset, but on which one, lol?
And Sharp1, Ya I have seen a Harley get sweat, lol. A long ride, shorts, and a leather seat in the summer time, along the beach on Pacific Coast Highway in Souther California. Oooohhhh but what a fun time and feel. Besides you can put a Harley away wet after a long and hard ride, don't do that with a horse or ya know what can happen, LMAO. JK Sharp!
Ranger1, a good friend of mine (male, platonic) has ridden a harley for 30+ yrs and still loves to get out and ride on a horse. It's not the same. I mean have you ever seen a harley get all sweated up? lol
A strong bike is the modern equivalent to the horse. When I ride, it reminds me of the days I spent on the reservation with my grandmother, a Cherokee Indian, who taught me to ride a horse. The motorcycle is now my horse.
I wanted to add, when you are galloping across a beach, field or arena it is exiliarating to feel the power of the horse beneath you. It can be frightening to a novice rider.
AlpenSnow write: At the risk of being 'shot down in flames' for generalising, a lot of girlies I know like horses whereas most blokes like things that go "Vroom!" (Cars or motorbikes).
Why this should be I don't know, but I thought it would be an interesting thread to start.
It's true, most girls like horses, but I also think it depends where you live. Calgary is noted for being a 'cowtown'! We host the Calgary Stampeded annually for over 50 years. As well as the renowned Spruce Meadows for international equestrian events. There are alot of males living around here into Western and English riding.
I love riding horses, but I also love riding motorcycles. It's not always one or the other.
