All you need is find that haystack with all the needles..there are such haystacks around and I found a site that had lots of needles all in one haystack recently and that is why I am not in this site so often...:)

Intellectual stimulation is something highly individual, or all the intellectuals would agree with each other. Intellectual stimulation to one person can be a turn-off for another, no?

Yes, I would guess that many intellectual subjects and conversations might turn a person off. Especially if you are that type of person that has a closed mind or if you encounter someone who knows it all and don't want to hear or need your input.

HI FOLKS,
Happy New Year..it is really heartwarming to know that I have been missed.. Thanks Sharon for informing me..
It has been a long time since I last read anything here..and have been too caught up with my own life to feel I have much to contribute..
My personal thoughts for the year is:
To learn to communicate better with our loved ones.. we take them for granted and assumed that they understand us intrinsically.. and often we are too presumptuous about their feelings and even our own feelings and needs.
I may be a good thought processor with theoretical issues but when it is one- to- one communication, I realise I could not pace myself to understand nor empathise with others..listening is a skill I have to learn all over again..
INtellectual stimulation requires good listening skills and internalising others' feelings is a much more intimate skill requiring great intuition and instinct that far exceeds that of a distant remote intellectual spectator. Practising what we preach and accepting criticism of our own failings is a painful learning process but nonetheless an important aspect of self-improvement and development. All a humbling process in the route to an enlightened individual.

Thanks Carol. Its actually Robert Redfords picture. lol

No, I do not consider myself a intellect. I am too practical to fill my head with useless knowledge. I do love to learn, however, -- but I am very selective because I have limited storage upstairs. lol.

From that scholar i.e. intellectual in Iowa that you know. By the way...good looking photo! Carol

"I'm blessed just to know him."

I have a few I am blessed to know also. I am glad that you recognized the value of your friendship. Many people don't.

I find myself intellectually stimulated when someone challenges my thinking, when I learn something new about myself through others and when I'm enlightened on a subject I knew nothing about. Also when someone can totally understand my thoughts by interpreting what I said exactly how I meant it, but didn't convey it as such.

I have a friend who does exactly this and I found myself drawn to this guy immensely. I fell in love with him and was in love with him for a loooooonnnnng time - we're talking about years! He was going through a break-up and I thought now is my chance to make my move. But I respect this guy so much I couldn't take advantage of his vulnerability, especially since his heart was with his family. We are still good friends and although I don't get to speak to him as much, I'm blessed just to know him.

I certainly agree with that. I would also add friendship.

Sorry...saw stimulation and got lost in thought...

Need to have someone who can be able to talk as well debate an issue...but beyond just regular topics, and be deeper about their responses...wait need to find a different way to say that....; )
