Heaven or Hell is not a geographical place or one out there in the universe or beyond or down in the earth somewhere. Heaven or Hell is a state of mind and a way of life here on earth while you are alive.

In Luke 17:21 Jesus said "-- the kingdom of God is within you."

I would not believe everything you read, especially vague and confusing statements like the location of a "kingdom" is inside you. If it's there, how will I get there, I can't exactly fly, walk, drive, jump, swim, or collapse to it.

I'm still working on who "I" am. Until I figure that out, "I" can't be aware that I am anywhere specific or direct myself to go anywhere specific.

Even if Heaven, assuming it exists, is within, I can only GO to places, however obscure, as in within, that's kind of the definition of going, it implies leaving point a to BE elsewhere. Unless it's the "state of mind" definition, then I can BE in that state as soon as I figure out WHO it is and how do I ascertain my current state and maneuver it to some other state.

But, the whole concept of Heaven, Hell, state of mind, etc., I'm just not buying that concept, the logic just isn't there. In fact, I still don't have a logic and evidence beyond belief supported definition for who WE are, and until I get there, there will be no "state" or "location".

The word I got was, Life is a gift, we are here to enjoy it, NOBODY gets out without sin. So have fun. However you find to do that. And you will be held accountable. It made sense when I was a child, it makes sense as an adult. Even without God and Religion.

So, for fun: I have to tell you, a darn lot of my idea of fun is considered sin by a lot of people. To quote a popular one, let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Look at me. Know what I'm thinking? Do I look like I'm the sinner kind? I do? Then if I'm so BAD, why are you smiling about it?

Christianity a crutch. An opiate of the masses Causes wars even. Apologetics 101. But Marx was a little upset by the feudal system at the time and being a good German as Luther was, he stirred it up a bit. The Church does not always have a good PR system in place. However opiates are like religion and they cause wars. Depending on the opiate. you have your saviour depending on which opiate you choose, most are minor deities compared to Heroin. So then you have the rituals that surround the drug, finding it, funding it, shooting it, willing to go to jail for the cause, some make pilgrimages to the land of poppies. There are even Drug wars.

I would politely offer a different view of what the world has latched onto.

Judge not lest ye be judged.

It means if you judge someone or something, you will be judged by the same standard.

The bible doesnt tell people not to judge. It in fact tells them to judge between right and wrong, good and bad, righteous and unrighteous. Not for the purpose of condemning anyone, but so that we may rightly divide truth from falsehood. Part of our journey as believers is to learn to judge with the same love, compassion, wisdom, and equality that God would.

Just wanted to make mention of the judging thing that everyone likes to throw around.

Well this isn't one of the best forums to debate religion. I couldn't debate a thing until I read Aquinas, Augustine and Calvin. I was reading post-modernist theology and I liked this thought that before Reformation there was one way to go to hell, and after the Reformation there were hundreds.

PORSCHE951,

You must have studued some physics in college but I don't think they taught you any of that.

I don't believe in the Bible or any other religious book, but if you do then read John 10:17-18. Jesus said that no man could take his life. "Therefore doth my father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father." So, if you believe the Bible nobody killed Jesus. If anybody did, he did it himself.

But he didn't die on the cross. He was seen walking around after his so-called crucifixion. At one point he is supposed to have appeared amongst his disciples who thought he was a spirit. He said he was no spirit, that spirits didn't have flesh and blood as he did. He asked them for something to eat and then he walked away eating it.

He told the people that if he didn't show them signs and wonders they wouldn't believe him.

He was an amateur magician. His bringing of Lazarus back to life was a trick, the bringing of the widow's son back to life was a trick, even the disciples "brought people back to life".

The bringing of the dead back to life in those days was a trick. Preachers don't do it today because most people wouldn't believe them or at least I don't think they would.

The crucifixion and resurrection was Jesus's last trick then he just faded out.
The so-called crucifixion and resurrection was his last sign and wonder

Nobody knows what Jesus looked like. He may not have looked like anything. He might just be a figment of the imagination of Paul.

If they ever invent a time machine that goes both ways in time and I get a ticket to ride on it, one of the first things I am going to do is to go back and check on the Jesus myth.

If God is either male or female then he or she has s*ex organs. Why? What does the God do with them? If he or she looks like a person then they have arms and legs. Why? Where do they walk and what do they lift? Do they have eyes? What do they see? Do they have digestive organs? What do they eat? Where do they go to the bathroom?

If angels have wings what are they powered with and why? Is there air in Heaven?

It is all nonsense. There is no God or anything else supernatural.

There's some guy who advertises in the Houston Chronicle that the world is going to end in 2017.

I wonder what he is going to say when he wakes up January 1, 2018 and everything is still around?

I consider myself to be quite moral in every way and I think everyone who knows me thinks the same about me but I am not at all religious.

'As soon as we lose the moral basis , we cease to be religious. There is no such thing as religion over-riding morality . Man , for instance cannot be untruthful, cruel or incontinent and claim to have God on his side .'
-Gandhi

'Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. WE know more about war than we know more about peace, more about killing than we know about living. We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount.'-anon

Two very poignant quotes to think about.

Only the dead know for sure Cajun, and they aren't talking!
My beliefs about life after death, are just that, beliefs.
My beliefs are premised on my faith.
If a person has faith in something, then they can have hope too.
I live today with the hope of a better tomorrow, and have the faith to believe that there is life after death.
It is a very personal decision, and I respect all cultures, theologies and ideologies regarding the same.
Just because I believe it to be true, does not warrant a mandate to anyone.

It's interesting to note that the modern theological interpretation of "hell" was and is defined by Dante's interpretation of the same in his classical work "Inferno", part of the classical "The Divine Comedy", written some 700 years ago.
My own personal belief is that whatever there is after death, is the same for everyone. Whatever it is, it is a much better place than we can even begin to imagine as mortals.
For those that haven't gotten it "right" yet, you will be destined to be reborn here again, given another opportunity to get it right.
Anyone ever hear the sentiment, "if ever there was a hell, it's right here on earth!"?
