Every good atheist ought to read the Bible so that he will know what he is talking about.

If you live 10 years that is 3650 days
    10 X 365 = 3650

If you live to be 100 that is 36,500 days.
    100 X 365 = 36,500

Most of us don't live that long. I am 75 so I guess at best I have lived about 3/4 of that.

Not a long time. Make the best of it.

    A poser to everyone:
If there was a God , and at birth he stamps your expiry date on your bottom, would you live your life differently if you knew when you are going to expire?
What if God decides to mix up your expiry dates with someone elses?

I think everyone knows the times..But, I think everyone should live one day at a time, and enjoy the blessings, and health that they have!

    A day?
    A year?
    A hundred years?
    A thousand years??
As much as we'd like to believe otherwise, Mother Nature (see? we even give nature a nurturing name) is anything but benevolent.
In fact, "nature" could care less about the human species in general. We are but a microcosmic speck in the overall picture of the universe.
Whether it be by a shift in the poles (it has happened before btw, and is overdue to happen again), or a meteor impact, a solar flare, a super volcano, or disease, it WILL happen.
I don't fear it, and I don't live in despair. It saddens me to ponder it, but it is GOD's way. Therefore I don't question it. Rather I choose to live my life today as a blessing. Thankful for the beautiful blue skies, the singing birds, and even women
Sorry I couldn't resist that Ladies.
Did someone in another post say, live laugh, and love?

I offer to bet anyone and everyone on this site the sum of $10 Million that the world will not end in the next ten years.

(If I'm wrong, I won't be around to pay up.)

    The End of Time?

No Way ! Biblical scholars have concluded that there will be clear signs of the end of the world, signs we all can read. Specifically, the most important sign is that the headline on the front page of the New York Post, will state in huge block letters:

In small letters underneath, it will say "Due to Armageddon"

I just wrote a book on the coming Wrath of God its called 'When Shiloh Comes'. As a scientist interested in solar physics and stellar dynamics I'm convinced that we're in for it with the next decade or perhaps less. The next solar maximum could trigger all the events of the Wrath that was prophesied by Jesus and various prophets. First the impact of a Coronal Mass Ejection together with an energetic solar flare or two in quick succession could stimulate the Earth's EMT (electromagnetotoroid) into mode change from the Del X E vector field mode to the Del X H vector field mode going from a magnetic dipole structure to an electric dipole state. Then all hell will begin to break loose and 4 of 6 billion people will be destroyed.

Alberto, that is one of my most favorite books! And of course, that beginning was pure genius, and could never be bettered by anyone.
The movie versions I've seen have been excellent, too.

Every body take notice of the miracles happening in your life on a daily basis and THINK real hard about it.

You didn't create me and you didn't create yourself so surrender to the fact that something else, namely GOD, did.

If anyone has a problem with God then they have a real problem man!

People like Kenneth Lay and Charles Keating were religoius men. God wanted them to loot Enron and the Savings and Loan industry of billions of dollars. The child abusing preachers and priests felt the same way.

People who are pious are every bit as likly to do wrong as athiests. Its just that they feel less doubt about if they are doing and feel better about themselves when they do things.

    I'm an educated scientist.

Faith has no place in my mind, because who are you gonna believe? You can't trust anybody except yoy, there is only one truth and it's the one that's always been inside you, and you KNOW it.

Science feeds us nearly as much shit as relgion does. Question everything.

One night while partying it up I recived a 2am call from outside the country by a woman I had never met.

On speaker phone my buddy and I listened for 2 hours as she ran through my life story and significant events in my life. Things NOBODY could know or knows.

Alternating between crying a kind of rejoice, gibberish (tongues I'm now told), and English she told me I had been chosen at birth, what for I shall not elaborate, but being an atheist, I was told I had still been serving and had served God well, amongst thieves and various criminal types that I hung with rather regularly down on a Cairbbean island.

I was praised for discerning the deserved (supposedly the poor people I had helped - chosen by me as to who was and wasn't a conivnig shiester) and apparently "helping hs people".

I was also told the story of Jesus, who had been a regular bad boy as well, and the crowd of criminals he ran with. Was told he gets his "generals" from the "intelligent soldiers" who have walked that path, trials and tribulations to prepare me. I was also told not to worry about the worship, church, and relgions, which I had basically shunned, how they would get whats due and that a special time was to occur, within 2 years (that was 1 year ago) that would mean lots of bad stuff happening but after that, good times.

My point is, my information says just love everyone and it's not the end, it's the beginning that's coming.

Freak and a phone or something divine, I can't be sure, but it's what I always thought anyway as far as how to live. It is what make sense. Don't you just FEEL it anyway? Every one of us will always act and do what seems right for us in our cirumstance at any given time, that's just how we are wired. So don't sweat. Do as you feel is right and you are IN.

Got it second hand from ... whoever the caller was talking to. And we are not here except to enjoy the gift, LIFE. Enjoy the journey, live and let live.

Who are you gonna believe, ME? Nope. Believe in yourself. It's the only source you can be sure of and you have always known right from wrong.

    That's my experience.

you've made you point on your faith and what you believe however not true for all people. If that's what you believe great, and I'm happy you find contentment in that faith.

But I still believe there is more then one path to the same place......and so do those who are Jewish, Budhist, Moslim, Catholic or whatever.
They are not wrong, just different. After all isn't peace, tolerance and harmony amongst all people part and parcel of the whole thing?
When we allow others to have their own belief system, we are being tolerant and loving towards them.....isn't that part of being a Christian?

Man, didn't we just open up a can of worms. For all those atheist out there, I would advise you, though it should be a given, to look at it from an objective stand point. What are the positives and negatives if there isn't a God?...What are the plus and minuses if there is one and you don't believe?... Sorry, but that burning in hell eternally is a bigger negative than believing in something that a mojority of this world beleives in regardless of perspectives or religions. It being the end of days?...It is something that is inevitable, atheist or not. There seems to be too many arguments as for the
Bible or Evolution. So, I think it is a combination of two. How exactly, haven't quite got the specifics down but give me a sec... One would have to blind to think that this beautiful universe that we live in was created out of chaos. Have you not seen some of the pictures sent back by the Hubble? Have you not looked into a baby's eyes? Those things of such beauty, eloquence, purity and innocence could only by created by some benevolent being. Please note, that only a blind man sees with his eyes. They have decripted out of the Bible that the world is suppose to end by the result of a meteor hitting us in 2012. There is also a decription saying that will "broken apart..." by Him. Point being, this world is what we make of it. If you have been fortunate enough to acquire or earn a certain income, help those that don't have as much time as the rest of us. Ultimately, time waits for no one and you can only buy so much...

First ,I believe that the Tsumani, hurricanes happening more, landslides etc. are majorly to due with global warming, and shifting geographical plates on the earth, not some rath of God.

Second, if we don't accept Christ as our saviour , does that mean the most devoted Jewish, Mulsim, Buddist person is not just as "Christian" as in Christ like, in their ways? And then they will go to hell because they didn't believe in the same way as you?

Sorry I don't buy that there is only one way to believe in God. He may come by different names to the religion, place of origin you or your family is from but I think there are many paths to the same place.

He may be Buddha, Allah, or Jesus, depending where you are and what you believe however you can't tell me that there is only , one right way to Heaven.

Goodness, honesty, lack of sin comes from within and your own spirituality with whomever you call Him/Her, your God.

Putting down others because they don't believe, or believe in the same way as you isn't Christ like behaviour either, remember patience and tolerance?

So my God I refer to as my Higher Power, is loving patient , understanding, forgiving and kind, not a thunder bolt and lightning out to get you guy/gal!

There are some real problems with taking the bible and scripture too seriously. First, you are reading in in english and not the orignal language. Second, these writings were heavily edited by the Catholic church for about 1000 years. Third, the the context of these writings is 2000 years old. We have no idea what they really meant.
