I was impressed with the wide array of activities everyone takes part in. My creative juices are channeled into writing. I've written for several daily papers and am attempting to transition into freelance magazine work. I finally secured my first book credit this year as a contributor for one of the Chicken Soup for the Soul anthologies. I often think that if I hadn't chosen law, I would've went into journalism.
Well I'm terrible at art, but appreciate it....can't play an a note but enjoy most types of music and listening to it...have an eclectic mix of CD's and attend alot of concerts.......read a ton, from the paper to biographies, interesting what we can learn from others lives.....self improvement and expanding thought books.....have taken up gardening.....not always successfully but enjoy getting my hands dirty and the effort......playing with the computer and trying to figure it out without formal training, great challenge......... got a puppy this year, my first dog, always had cats but this has been fun and a loving experience and interesting on how to train her........enjoy my job and working with the elderly...emotionally rewarding and a challenge some days......home renovations......somethings I'm great at.....others.....well going to have to hire a professional to fix! :D Travel and seeing and exploring new (to me)places.
I guess that's about it.....enjoying new and different things, my children and grandchildren when I get to see them, live about 500 miles away!
Just enjoying the ride and the scenery of life I think is what I'm saying.
Well I am one of those right-sided brains artists too...am an Art Director during the day...and on the side I illustrate childrens books, paint furniture, scenery for my kids' productions in theatre and school, etc...I have new book I just illustrated call "I Love You Bigger Than the Moon" if you are interested in having a copy email me and I will give you the info...it is catered to ages 2-8 year olds...
I heard about that book, The 5 Languages of Love. Isn't it about the ways in which people ecpress and show their love, ie. tactile...showing their love through touch? Maybe I have the wrong book. If it is good let me know I will pick it up as it may enhance my love life...ya right.
My hobby is scrapbooking. I have always kept a scrapbook for each of my kids but when I went to a scrapbooking party a five years ago, I found out how much fun it can be to make a beautiful and colorful scrapbbok for each child. The pages take forever and you can get ideas through books but everything is acid free whcih means each child can keep their scrapbbok for generations and the color will remain..not fade. I am now on my second book for each kid. You do the pages by themes and it is a lot of work but very stress relieving. My kids think their books are the coolest things and even show them off to their friends. They are at the age in which Mom is not so cool anymore to have around their friends so I am surprised they are still proud of thier books. Anyone else do scrapbooking?
Interesting stream, thought I would contribute! My hobbies are Ebay (love to make money on there), I love to read (currently reading the 5 Love Languages), I love to garden (especially flowers) and shopping! The last one kind of goes with the first one, since I sell stuff on Ebay...
It's interesting to see so many artists on here....I can't do any type of art, not even to save my life! I can, however, play the Clarinet! I used to be quite good, but little time to practice now. :-(
My profession is a freelance artist for my business "Creative Expression". My hobby is also in the arts, music. I play electric guitar, and I love it!! I play a "Jeff Beck signature Stratocaster by Fender. I own both models in which Jeff designed with the guys at Fender. Jeff Beck is my favorate artist, and he is why I play guitar, I've been fortunate to get to know him .I enjoy music, comedy, swimming,
cars shows, creating anything.
I love to read - mysteries are a favorite. I like Sue Grafton mysteries ("H is for Homicide") etc. Also Steve Martini, Patricia Cornwell, and JA Jance mysteries. I enjoy a lot of types of books - fiction, history, biographies, autobiographies, political, current events, inspirational, self-help books. I also enjoy traveling and weekend trips. There are places I haven't been that I would like to visit. I like Disneyland. I have enjoyed exploring an old mining ghost town in Nevada. I enjoy the beach. Swimming. Aerobic exercise gives me a great feeling. Watching movie comedies. Re-watching movie comedy favorites, like "What's Up Doc", "The Princess Bride", and "Clue".
Hobbies I"m an artist who hasn't found her medium so I try and use everything clay, paints, woods metal,I'm a graphic artist self taught.I also perform withan 1800's renactment group and have been in several movies.
My hobbies usually revolve around traveling to different places in the world. I love to travel and have done so extensively. I usually combine that with photography and/or scuba diving. I'm looking forward to getting an underwater camera soon so that I can shoot when I dive. Next trip! I especially enjoy wildlife and landscape photography. My walls are covered with it. It's nice to walk around my home and relive my various trips!
Everything revolves around my spiritual path. Currently reading Joel Osteen's "Your best life now". I'm into brain-mind deprogramming. So I regularly do sessions. Forgiveness is amazing once it' s spiritualized. It's not an intellectual process. And meditation is key. Another amazing book (my bible actually) is Sondra Ray's "Loving Relationships". It's out of print but on ebay for mere cents! Not to be confused with "LR: book II"
