Quoting sweetlyamazing:

Dressing for a venue is in fact dressing for others. Basically, dressing for the appropriate activity shows that it engrained to wear clothing based on your social enviorment

I call BS on that opinion.

One example is that certain venues have a dress code and you need to obey or be denied entry. So are the "others" management? If so, then there may be a hint of truth to "dressing for others".

Another example; Let's say I know I'm going horseback riding, will I choose to wear a ballgown? No, I will dress based on my comfort level but not on my social enviroment. I could care less what others think of my choice. My choice is based on common sense.

I have a lot of self confidence so I dress to impress myself. But in society theirs always loud competition sporting egotistical personalities and or a narcissistic personality disorder.

Are women competitive?

I think that depends on the woman, some are more than others and some are not at all.

I truly don’t think so, in my opinion we learned very early that we should dress up in order to keep our feminine side,

However I think almost all women tend to look at others but its not behind a competition just to see if we are well dress or we could had done better J

Are women conpetitive ... Yes.

Do women dress to impress men and women ... Yes.

Society teaches us since we are born that feminity is very much part of how we present ourselves to the world around us. We are judged first by how we look then by how we behave.

When we want respect from men and women we dress in a manner that exudes that

I would say for me that it is neither, I dress for myself. The biggest thing that influences me for what I may wear is the venue and what I may be doing.

IF I had to choose one or the other, dressing to impress men or dressing for women, I would choose women, but not to be competitive, it would be more of a comradery factor than anything else.
