hello everyone, I do hope you girls can help me. Although I have been on the site for a while now have never participated in the forums and blogs although have had many good laughs reading them.
How does one go about checking out the reputation of a member on here, if there is any negative feedback etc.from other members who have dealt with him. I heard there is somewhere to check this kind of thing but cant locate it.
In their defense it's true that in some places they have to use internet cafes. Where my mum lives she has to go to the internet cafe to check her email however almost every Jim, Jack, Stanley and Lolita has a cell phone. That is not to say you aught to send them money. On the contrary....DO NOT send your money whether you inherited it and you don't care or worked hard for it. People will do anything to get what they want.
I have a niece who met someone online and he proposed to her and went to Africa and married her and then went back to the UK. He convinced her that he loved but he could not get her a visa to go with him. He told her he had never been married and had no kids, but see I live here. I am prior Military and I did some investigating and the man is married and has a kid who is 8 yrs old. I have not told my niece because the messages he sends her on face book are so flowery. I asked how well she knew him, and she told him and he got upset and told her to tell me it was not right for me to ask some many questions and my niece will not even talk to me.....CIP? A scammer is a scammer no matter where they are in the world. Now he bugger has two wives and he says he does not make enough so he can only send he $50 and she is 19! Stupid kid, stupid man! What can I say.
So be on your guard for real but also use good judgement. Not every foreigner is a con (I am foreign - well my parents are, I was born here). If you are doubtful don't do it. It's okay to feel sorry but it's your God-given right to say not until I have all the fact.
UK countries have socialized medicine, but it doesn't cover as much as health insurance and people with money in UK countries do carry health insurance. Trust me, when they walk into the doctor's office they will be seen immediately while the general populace will wait. So someone in the UK might need money for something extra or not covered by the social system.
Something I don't get is being contacted on a regular basis and in attempting to respond find the person has withdrawn their membership???
I keep getting contacted by rich males, widowed, with a child. How can you tell if Nigerian? Well, ask about where they state they live. Don't ask about the child. If they send a Web site and it's for something really rich, ask them to verify their income. Chances are they will disappear faster than a wink.

Boys and Girls - you can tell the "Scammers " coming from a mile away, they letters are way to lovey-dovey, this person has seen you and is instantly in love, they pour their heart out to you more and more in each passing email - Its around email 6 or 7 ( the good ones ) when it comes, the request for money, they have some crisis and you are the only person that can help them, the request can be from $300USD to - $3000USD - they need it for some reason and then they will be free to come and be your "one and only " - I have not had anyone scam me on this site but on some other sites I tried, they often list they live in the USA, but dont have a phone, they want to IM, thats one of the tip-offs, then they will send photos, women will send these really sexy shots of themselves, then you find out they live in Ghana, Nigeria, or South Africa, they may be white, black, or something inbetween, but the story is always the same- how much they have fallen for you, then after a certain number of contacts they ask for money, here is a good one, "to pay their lawyer, so they can collect their inheritance from their deceased parents", and then they will be able to be free of the place they are stuck in and come be ith you forever - and bring along all their wealth!!! On the MM site : I did get an email from a woman on this site - today who I have been occasionally emailing with, and she asked for $500USD for her son who is sick, I am the only person that can help her. Sure. I told her go ask your family. She is somewhere in the UK. Why would I send her money? She did email me some pretty sexy emails, but so what. So beware of the scam. It is easy to spot once you have had it happen to you once or twice. But t always starts with the person contacting being so taken by your looks or whatever, they are instantly "in love with you." Web date site users beware of these crazies! Just tell them to get lost and then never answer them again. - HTG1961
Well, I just ran into a major scammer (won't post details), but reading the above advice (and not being new to the Internet), I felt from the first that this guy was pulling something--
If it's a flowery, poetic description of how your smile makes their heart stop, they can't breathe when they see your face (aka pic), then they're probably someone who's been watching too many Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals overseas. And the big word is overseas. As in Nigerian scammers. (And I REALLY thought that scam ended in the 90s.)
The above mentioned flowery words written to me put me on alert. They wanted IMMEDIATE contact. Told them, nope, nope, under deadline, can chat next week. Made one big (but actually good) mistake. Shared my IM I.D. That night (morning) they were Im'ing me. Gave me the soul talk, the fire & ice, when can we meet, check out my Web site, what are you looking for, check out my Web site, what do you need in a man (check out my Web site)--
so I did with Google Chrome which said the site had a bad rep. Went in. Wow. Diamond mine. Every US gal's American dream (but first watch Blood Diamond, second, live in Africa a few years, it will probably put you off wanting to collect diamonds, unless it's that one special ring from that one special somebody).
So I checked out the WOT (Web of Trust). The site came up as being a Nigerian scam site. So I googled. The Web site came up on various UK sites as how the UK needed to clean up their (peoples?) participation in these scams.
Then I googled his name (the one he gave me). Whoa, there are a LOT of sites out their devoted to people venting about scammers they have had run-ins with. My ONE big mistake was telling him to google himself (darn it), meaning . . .
So the Web site will change (but not the content, except for the name of the company and the name of the Chairman of the Board) and he'll be back at it with someone else.
I guess I was a bit dumbfounded. This is 2010. The Internet has been around a while. How do these scammers continue to get away with it?
Bottom line--if you have a friend (like I do), who's a bit older, a bit technologically-challenged, but raring to check out these dating sites (no one said the libido stops at 70), do them a favor. Show them the scammer forums. Tell them what to watch out for. All that Webdate 2004 said. But most important, tell them to watch their heart. Because that is what the scammer ultimately steals. Money can be replaced. Trust, a broken heart, that's a bit harder. And for someone who's as old as my friend, they don't have the time.
Most of the people who have sent me mails through this page, they say they have not registered as members and intend to get info outside. But that is not possible. Because If I paid to be here is because I want to be serious about it. If they are really interested in you they will go through it. So thanks for your tips.
yes, there are many frogs and a prince is hard to find.
Thank you webdate2004 for your good advice!
Since October I started here and I had contact to five fakes I found out. And with one, who wasn't really honest and didn't really communicate. At least I received weather reports of him. Oh my god! Probably he just was bored and wanted to write a little bit. And that's a preferred member here on this match! What a waste of time and money!
The best fake was a guy who wrote me with two nicks. That happend last month. Pretended I received mails of two different guys. Unfortunately this "two different" guys have sent me the same emails and I was taken aback. I reported it to the support of MillionaireMatch. He got fired.
So, be careful, this kind of people got great phantasy. I guess, they are only sick playing with people in this way. Poor creatures!
My advice: Don't tell to much privat or nothing about "feelings" in the first mails!! And if you got a suspicion, don't be shy and report it to MillionaireMatch. This is the only way to stop this people!
- I would say offhand not to make it an issue as depending on the country of origin a person can get sued for "liable" or "slander" when dealing with "dafamatory" comments that might have impact on a persons career, public image, etc.
- Also expect to see simlar profiles at multiple sites as people are trying different services due to fake profiles.
and in that I bring you my analysis of:
"Signs of a fake profile"
1. potential match requests you send to a external email address
2. potential match indicates that there profile will be expiring soon
3. profile says local but when you send an email they inform you they
live outside US
4. potential match says they were born in US but live with relative outside US
5. potential match says they are visiting family overseas and will return to US in different spot
6. potential match profile is overfilled with love and emotion
7. potential match profile is overfilled with religious references
8. potential match says they use an internet cafe and wait for my response daily
9. Match picture is found on multiple profiles
Feel free to substitute US with your country of origin
Could you please give me a name that wwe are supposed to be checking on for I am curious as I think I might have run across your profile before on another site and well will explain later in more detail if this is the case.
