As 61% are married it makes sense that they would take their partner's advice if they want the benefits of the relationship to continue (i.e., sex). If you've had an effective strategy to get you to where you are, and the person you're in a relationship with is not as successful, why in the world would you take their advice on financial matters (or anything that could affect you financially)? Its a bit like taking stock tips from homeless people.
