At the risk of being 'shot down in flames' for generalising, a lot of girlies I know like horses whereas most blokes like things that go "Vroom!" (Cars or motorbikes).
Why this should be I don't know, but I thought it would be an interesting thread to start.
I ride both, but I prefer my bike. Less maintenance, more riding. You can't rah-rah on a horse. It takes a lot longer to go 1500 miles on a horse. Horses are fun for a year, bikes are fun for life.
Not sure whaere you get your info., but I have been riding since I was 12 can can outride a lot of men. I also raised horses when my girls were young, so I throughly enjoy both.
As an equestrian myself, I think you (Queenofyourdreams) have explained this very eloquently! For me also, it is being one and totally in sync with a live thinking creature. It is an amazing intellectual and emotional bond at any speed or any circumstance that may arise during the ride. I however, cannot speak for men and their machines! The great state of Florida has more motorcyles than any other state! With the rising cost of gasoline, I am wondering now, is it cheaper to feed a horse than to buy gas? LOL!
As a generality, that makes sense. Both are strong and powerful. Both are beautiful to the beholder. I never thought of it until you mentioned it. Hmmm.

love my bike and going fast. It certainly is my sanity, beautiful sunny day, open back road, no helmut, ahhhhh yes and let the road take me away to places unknown!!! Life is good!
Interesting generalization but this girly prefers bikes - dirtbikes, streetbikes and I don't ride on back.
Taking a corner at double the posted speed is exhilerating, hitting a good jump is amazing and nothing can beat sitting at the starting line of a motocross race with butterflies in your stomach, engine revved, just waiting to see that gate drop.
I sold my horse years ago, too much maintenance. The bikes take a lot of maintenance too but if I don't feel like working on it, it can wait till I do.
Most American men have never had a riding experience with a horse....I prefer horses but have not ridden for a few months. I have my tack but not the horse.
Jeez, must of had a really privileged life. Had and rode horses and rode motorcycles through trails.
The horses were big....I rode 50cc and 70cc Honda motorcycles, and so did the girls in my neighborhood.¿the days of riley when you are a teenager.
The Horses - more "human connection" with horses. Pet your horse, brush the¿mane, feed horse apples and carrots for treats, tack them up, talk to them, brush them down..
I find that guys have a problem riding something with their own mind. Most men dont have that same connection with animals. They want to be in total control. That is my experience and what I have noticed.
Since I am a professional in the horse industry I may be able to give a little further insight into the magic that happens with a horse and any rider, man or women. Most riders happen to be women. Contrary to unpopular belief there is nothing sexual that happens to a women on a horse. It is not physically possible. Both women and men may have the fantasy of knights or whatever, but that is usually only when the person who is on the horse feels they have control of their own body and of the horses movement and speed. The difference between a motorbike and a horse is that the horse thinks and reacts to what ever the rider is doing, or feeling, and any outside influences. A motorbike will go where you point it while a horse may decide it does not want to go there.
I have seen horses change women's lives of all ages. Horses teach them how to make choices and decisions that they would not take in their normal daily life. Some women are never sure how to set boundaries, say "no" or take control of what is happening to them. Some women have never felt the pride of knowing what they are capable of doing. This changes quickly when they enter into the world of the horse. When they are able to influence a horses behavior and movement peoples lives take on a new meaning. Horses also require the rider to have control of their physical and emotional reactions. Some people have never had to deal with personal issues such as fear, making mistakes, not being good enough, not being strong enough, not knowing enough, until they get on a horse and the horse teaches them how to learn more about who they are. And when the rider connects with the spirit and the soul of the horse...there is a magic that only those who have experienced it can really understand. Interspecies communication begins and the horse and rider began thinking and moving together, as one.
Almost sounds like what people say happens on a motorbike. Becoming one...except with a machine instead of a living being
