There is a state emergency for state of florida. "Ernesto" core is directed at Cape Canaveral and NASA space shuttle is on alert for possible scrub of lift off. Atlantis delayed lift off due to need to evaluate the lightening strike it took on Friday. Nonmoveable Residents of the Keys are also being moved to Miami. Do you know anyone in those areas? Nail up windows? Class I or II hurricane probable. I am a bit surprised we get a state alert - when Florida is accustom to hurricanes....The Katrina timing issues is being used to cause sensitivity or start educating to the power of hurricanes but hopefully TV will not take advantage in order to promote the fear (button) to develop higher ratings...that is the way marketing works, to work peoples emotions. Any one else agree?disagree? Seems speak only when serious about the issue at hand. Perhaps the info will get people to start realizing they need to leave the area when told, but what about the typhoons John and super typhoon IOKE? right behind Ernesto. This would be a great time for new knowledge and awareness from the media...instead of just went wrong with Katrina, the positive directions are great, but can desensitize people as well...may be running a fine line there..????

In the event of class 3 or 4 hurricanes, which Ernesto was a class 1-2 (minimal damage expectancy, winds 74-110mph)that died out, typhoon John was a class 4 (severe damage expected)...If you have no where to go, wouldnt you save your life and go to a hotel, another town, a campground, a public service for the homeless, the red cross, something somewhere? My concern is the people that stay despite the real warnings to leave... they fear, and so become paralyzed in action and thought, normal fight or flight seems to be scewed in logical thinking for safety...I guess they dont understand the levels and level of damage expectancy. They hear the windfactor, rain factor ,and that is minimized in what is risk factor actually is... how else can there be provisions for all in those conditions? There are shelters right? I see too much to offer and so to just be stubborn or not following the guidelines given to each residence about hurricanes, emergency trainings, doesnt make sense, they are informed people ...to not go for their safety???...Run silly run!!!xoxox seems it is from not understanding or you can lead a horse to water but...... maybe I need to ask here, how many people know the classification levels of hurricanes and what the damage factor expectancy is on them? Whether you live in an area of hurricane or not...
