Ok folks...we talked in another blog about our "day jobs. Now... in your dream of dreams what would you LOVE to do if not doing what you are doing now? These are mine: To open an internet cafe/coffee shop. Not a novel idea, but there are currently NONE in my town and one is needed. Interior re-design. (I'm already doing it for all my friends for free, I need to get paid for this!) I want to open a late teen/young adult/ nightclub. I've even picked out the building. How about you? What do you dream of doing if you weren't working your "day job."

Great blog. I, like some others here, already have my dream job. I put in 18-20 hour days doing what I love. I get very tired and overwhelmed but simply because I'm so busy. I have been self employed for 7 years now and not only does it compensate me well I love what I do. Would I do it even if I didn't get paid? Yes, if I could (key word: could). Although when I 'retire' I would love to own a small elite boutique and offer fine, high end unique items in a comfortable rustic setting. I may sell gorgeous flowers, offer nice wines and delicious coffees. That type of thing.

I haven't determined what my dream job is yet. I know it would have to be people oriented. I have recently thought about teaching English as a Second Language. I don't enjoy interior decorating pertaining to all the small stuff, like this candlebra and lamp goes here...I enjoy drafting the spacial plans, and I'm good at it. Like you Scorpio, I tend to do it for friends, for free. Friends of mine had an architect working on their houseplans for an 8500 sqft Executive home. No matter how often and detailed they conveyed what they wanted to him, it fell on deaf ears and he wasn't giving them what they wanted. The day of 9/11 I spent 12 hrs drafting houseplans for them. Two storey/walkout basement. They liked them. Gave them to their architect...who finished them off with the roof line, did them up in good copy...then put his name on them, and charged them. Oh well! I don't really want a career in that area, because it doesn't give me enough people interaction, which I enjoy and want. Also, I have to be in the mood. I like to draw and paint, but I have to be in the mood for it. I'm like a kid who hasn't figured out what she wants to be when she grows up. I've done alot of different things in my life. I work really well under pressure. Maybe if I had to work, I'd figure out fast what I wanted to do. I have figured out what I don't want to do...be retired. I've also thought about going to places like Mexico, Equador, etc. to help build homes for the poor. That is not something I can do at the moment, but maybe next year when my daughter has moved out of home. Time will tell.

When I grow up..... My dream job would be painting works of art then selling them at ridiculous prices so that I can take most of the year off traveling. Failing that, I want to rule the world. Cheers!

Wow! What a great blog idea. Thanks for starting it, or restarting it. LOL Hmmm..unlike most people's answers on here, I dont have me dream job. ...not even close. If I could have my dream job I would be a designer, interior or fashion...I love to see things come to together from nothing to a finished product. I've also thought it would be great fun to do PR work in the entertainment industry. And, as cliche & overdone as it is, I've always wanted to be an actress... but, I think I can let go of that one. After all, I'm pretty sure Hollywood isn't looking for an average 31 yr old girl. LOL Here's wishing that perhaps everyone can still attain those dream jobs in some way.

I have it. I just don't have anyone to share it with. Hey, Star Voyager, if you really live in Tonga I'll see you Wednesday, 6 pm at Fafa, for a beer.

Great responses, all! Tooth, Lady and Beauty..all such selfish endeavors, admirable aspirations..impressed here. Still want to see the Italian provincial furniture, ITALIANBEAUTY. Do you have a website or something? MARIANA, what have you written? Is it related to the frelance interpreting you do now or something else?

In a sense I already do it... However, on a part-time, seasonal basis. I am a volunteer ski patroller in the winters. I call it the 'HARDEST FUN YOU WILL EVER HAVE' and all the skiing I want! I would love to be a travelling patroller, here during what we know as winter and South America for what they know as winter (opposite as here).

Courtney :)

I want to be a rock star. An author. A fireman. A CIA operative. A mother. All of these things. In the real world, I would love to open an inn or start a business focusing on customer service/sales outsourcing and training. I can't choose yet, I'll let you know when I decide...
