 Hello Everyone :)

Do you have plans for New Year's Eve?  I don't, I may change my mind and do something low key but frankly,  I hate New Year's Eve celebrations.

The whole thing, from feeling like you really have to dress up, overpaying for some event and getting lousy service than normal, dealing with drunk people and the absolute worst, feeling like u have to kiss someone at Midnight.  No thank-you!!

I guess I have experienced both the disasters and the great evenings.  Depends a lot on the place and the person you are with.

A mountain cabin, a fireplace, a little snow, no place else you need to go.  A two person New Year's party can be wonderful.

Quoting Dolcedileche:

Good evening!

This is a hoot!  I do agree on one account - overpriced food.  You wanna make me mad, serve me bad food.  You wanna fight, serve me bad food and overcharge me for it.  Back in the day..Mr. Dolce would spend an arm and a leg just to eat out on NYE.  The food was crap.  So much so that he had to wrestle me out of the place when the bill came.  No...I don't play around with nibbles..smile

Nowadays its a great meal with drinks at my (Chef)  friend place followed by West African traditional music and dancing or whatever you want to make up.

If by chance I decide to blow that party, there's my thing 1 monogramed onesie, medium rare filet mignon and a bottle of Verve calling my name.  I've done everything from being groped on the Champ Ellysee, being rained on at Piazza di Spagna, freezing my buns off at Trafalgar square to jumping the Eurail trying a new place for NYE.

Excuse me...but at my age pajamas on NYE would be great.

Whatever you do...do you.  Its the only you...you got.

Remain blessed and kick butt in 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dolce

Hello Dolce , how do u pronounce that?

I really like the idea of wearing a "Thing 1" Onesie (sooner or later in the evening) and just enjoying the company of good friends at someone's home.  At least you HAD some different experiences for NYE and can appreciate something a little more simple.  Right?

I'm not familiar with Verve other than one of my favorite songs, "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve. Fantastic and a realistic song for me.  I am familiar with Moscato de Asti, Stella Rosa has a good one, I'm a cheap date what can I say :)

Thanks and Happy 2017 to you!!!

Here's the video link of Bittersweet Symphony:

I quit going out on New Years eve. I don't want to go out to a restaurant and have to winde and dine in 90 minutes then get kicked out to make room for the next custormer. Then you have to battle the roads hoping you don't get hit my a drunk driver.

So my solution is to invite friends for an overnight. We cook a prime rib roast. Pair it with great wine  followed by port and cigars. We can enjoy each other's company without time contraints ad worry about driving home after embibing great wine. Makes for a better way to usher in the new year with the company of friends and not worrry about drunks on the road or a crowded noisy restaurant.

It all sounds nice till you get to light up the cigars then I'd have to exit but since I'm not invited anyway it doesn't matter. Ha!  I was thinking that part of the smell of old books must be from smoke and wine. I like your photos of your books :)

Drunks driving any vehicles are way worse than dealing with them in other ways.  They actually can be quite entertaining on the dancefloor, lol.

Enjoy your sleepover party!!

Hello Fun Times,

Thanks for the compliment and invite to Toronto, it seems my plane is in need of service so I'm homebound :) Irvine is too long of a drive by myself to hang out there for one night anyway. I'm staying in the area of Temecula, about an hour or less north of San Diego.  Sorry for your friend that she lost her father.

For the record, I'm from Detroit, Michigan. I wanted to visit relatives in Michigan for the holidays but wouldn't u know they are vacationing in Florida.  After living for too many years in California I am actually considering moving back to Michigan.  The people in Michigan are so much more normal and nicer there.

Happy New Year!! Enjoy Toronto :)

Hi JEN !

I like your picture ..Well , I don't hate the New Year but sometimes Im not in the mood to join the celebration and the

whole crowd .. Just like last year , me and a friend of mine

decided to stay at home and celebrate the occasion " in Pajama " and watched the happenings in the TV ..comfortably ..

This year I don't have a plan too..my friends are living in the

outskirt although they are inviting me but I will leave it open..
