A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on the highway. Nothing is moving.

 Suddenly, a man knocks on the window. The driver rolls down the window and asks, "What's going on?"

 "Terrorists have kidnapped Congress, and are asking for a $10 million dollar ransom. Otherwise, they are going to douse them all in gasoline and set them on fire. We are going from car to car, taking up a collection."

 "How much is everyone giving, on average?" the driver asks.

 The man replies, "About a gallon."

Only People are People!!!

 The Supreme Court invented free speech rights for corporations and unleashed a torrent of corporate political spending that threatens to rip control of our democracy from “We the people.”

 In just two years since the Court’s outrageous Citizens United ruling, Big Oil, Wall Street banks, other special interests and anonymous fat cats have poured more than $4 billion into congressional campaigns.  And they are spending mountains of cash this year to capture the White House!!!!

In the corporate world, spending billions of dollars to seize control….is known as a hostile takeover!  That is exactly what’s happening to our democracy!  Maybe one day we will be called the ‘United Corporations of America’.

There's a reason they are spending millions, backing Romney for President!  What could it be?????

Overall, I’m sure there are many factors besides mere size that contribute to how well a brain functions, but it's hard to dismiss brain size entirely.  :)

Quoting Diana3316:

In case some are not familiar with Ayn Rand~

She is the Atheist, Russian-American author of the fantasy novels The Fountainhead in 1943 and Atlas Shrugged in 1957, which promoted an ultra-Capitalist free-market philosophy, valuing individualism over collectiveness.  The basic message of all Ayn Rand's writing is that Capitalism is always good and shared sacrifice or community are always bad.  Any form of collectivism, whether it be unions, government programs, or even religion are, according to Rand, dangerous, malevolent, and disastrous to the integrity of the individual. She encouraged people to reject altruism and embrace greed and selfishness.  In her 1964 collection of essays, The Virtue of Selfishness, she argued that a man's "concern with his own interests is the essence of a moral existence”.  She also argued against all forms of taxation and called people who rely on social programs like Medicare or Social Security "parasites", though she herself collected Social Security and Medicare in her later years.

She has been heralded for years as the hero of uber right-wing conservatives!  She wrote that government had no role except the military, police and judiciary.  One of her most prominent and vocal supporters, Republican VP candidate Paul Ryan said in 2005, “The reason I got involved in public service, by and large, if I had to credit one thinker, one person, it would be Ayn Rand.” In 2009 he said, “I grew up reading Ayn Rand and it taught me quite a bit about who I am and what my value systems are, and what my beliefs are.  It inspired me so much that it’s required reading in my office for all my interns and my staff.”   (Hmmmm….indoctrination???)

Paul Ryan credits her with his very motivation to be in politics as well as his own personal value systems, and whose ideas represent his "moral case" for free market politics.  Now, that Paul Ryan has come into the public eye as the GOP VP candidate….and Ayn Rand’s socially liberal ideas have proved to be an embarrassment….Ryan has stated that he rejects Ayn Rand.

Wow!!!  That’s the type of man I would want.  One that instantly abandons me as soon as the going gets rough!

Ryan says it was some kind of youthful mistake and that he didn’t completely understand her atheist philosophy, even though she is quoted as saying, “Man must be exclusively guided by reason.  Reason is the only guide to values”.   Ayn Rand scorned churches and the concept of God, according to an interview with Mike Wallace in 1959.  Rand told Wallace that she considered faith a sign of psychological weakness.  She said it "doesn't take much intelligence...to know there isn't a God."  She valued reason above faith in all circumstances and argued it is "immoral" to place the love of another above love of oneself.  She also said that the family is “optional”, and I quote, “Family is not a necessary unit of society.”

Hmmm…..he didn’t understand that his muse was an Atheist???  Really?

Additionally she was an adamant and incessant proponent of a woman’s freedom of Choice, even before Roe vs Wade.  She detested Ronald Reagan and urged people not to vote for him because he opposed a woman’s right to choose abortion.  She insisted that Reagan did not believe in freedom or respect the rights of the individual!

Ayn Rand was a clearer and more consistent thinker than Paul Ryan could ever dream of being!  Ryan used Ayn Rand in order to sound like an intellectual, when in fact…..he’s really dumb.  You can tell by the size of his forehead!!!  Once she was no longer useful to him…he dumped her!

Just imagine what the GOP slander machine would do if President Obama was a devoted follower of a Russian Atheist who thought the family unit is optional.   OMG!!

Pullleeeeese!!!!

You can tell absolutely NOTHING by the size of any given human being's forehead.

To think you can is total crap.

You've raised some very interesting, and challenging issues.  But, because you believe in "forehead size" as a measure of intelligence, I can't be bothered to respond further.  I'd be wasting my time for sure.

Diana – re, "…..he’s really dumb. You can tell by the size of his forehead!!!"

Do you really believe that intelligence is that closely tied to head size?

It is true that head size is the best physical measure we have of intelligence, but it is a somewhat imperfect one.  Even the researchers who did the studies admit that.  Some very brilliant people can have relatively small heads.  And of course some who have the intelligence of a post have relatively large heads.

Seems what you do with the stuff inside has something to do with it.

By the by – this is not disagreement – I really like your comments.

Quoting Hoping4Love2000:

George Bush, Queen Elizabeth, and Vladimir Putin all die and go to hell. While there, they spy a red phone and ask what the phone is for.

The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth.

Putin asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so Putin writes him a check.

Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes. When she is finished the devil informs her that the cost is 6 million dollars, so she writes him a check.

Finally George Bush gets his turn and talks for 4 hours. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is $5.00.

When Putin hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why Bush got to call the USA so cheaply.

The devil smiles and replies," Since Obama took over , the country has gone to hell, so it's a local call."

BWAHAHAHAHA! Read that today on FB.. Thought several of you would get a chuckle! I know CURIOUS will! ;)

@Hoping4Love2000

All is well with me in my neck of the woods.  But I've recently learned that the Marshall service frown on people using the internet when you're in the witness protection program.  However, I've learned that it's sometimes easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

@Diana3316

Great post, I have to say having read both of her books.  I have never, ever laughed harder and longer as I watched Ryan try to walk back on all of his comments about Rand.   Whatever a persons political views, for anyone to promote Ayn Rand as the reason for getting into politics, are they serious.

Some politicians have made their primary mission to have this President limited to one term. Does this ring of "profiling"...lol

Ryan's has long been making statements of the  "uselessness" of the stimulus package ...and yet got his district 20 million of the same package. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what we will find out about this two faced liar...going to a orchestrated town meeting in Florida's Villages...that democrates are Not allowed to attend. believe none of what you see and less of what you hear

Rachel Maddow ...gotta love her

@DONTFITMOLD

My friend you hit this one out of the park.  You made my day with this one. By the way I haven't forgotten your offer on those flying lessons.  However, given your great sense of humor I think I'd be laughing to hard to even attempt to try and fly anything.  Last but certainly not least thank you for your service.

I would like to say to everyone in the room it's very nice to see ALL my rowdy friends here.  While I am very appreciative and grateful for all your friendships here on this site.  I am mindful and must give credit all the men and women in uniform past and present who fought on behalf of our grateful nation.  Freedom is never free.

Don, I am very curious to see how many hits this one gets, it's one of the funniest I've heard.  Outstanding!!!!
